Our Little Princess is Turning One - Part 1 - The Invitations

I can't believe how quickly the past 12 months has flown by! Our little princess, Claire, is turning 1 in 10 days. This of course means that I am in the thick of the party planning. The theme for her special day is pink, of course, with lots of tulle and all things pretty.

Her invitations have been designed and made by the lovely and talented Claire from Scissors Paper Rock Designs. Claire made Lachlan's Lego Invitations and menu labels.

The brief I gave her was pink, princess and tulle. Here is the result.

We were so pleased with the finished invitations. They were exactly what we had imagined, the guests have all commented how wonderful they are.

I spent today fluffing tulle pom poms, which I purchased from Sharnel Dollar Designs. These too are even prettier in real life. I can't wait to put all the details together on the day.

Sneek Peek: Lachlan's 7th Birthday Lego Themed Party.

Now that we are into August I have started to prepare things for Lachlan's party in a couple of weeks. I have a lot of other cake orders this month, so need to get organised early for the party.

I have been gathering the lollies for the candy buffet for a few weeks and today I started to wrap and cover the chocolate bars for the table. As it is a lego themed party I decided to use rectangle shaped bars covered in the theme colours with a lego brick picture on the front. This is what I started with.

The bars have 7 squares of chocolate in them, so the chocolate bars for the table will have 4 squares and the party box chocolate bars will have 3 square in them.

 { 4 square chocolate bar }

And here are the smaller ones for the take home party boxes.

One task can now be crossed off the "to do" list. There are many more to go, but there is still plenty of time!

Enjoy the coming week.

Sneek Peek : Claire's 1st Birthday

It is still a couple of months away, but things are coming along nicely for Claire's 1st birthday celebration. As mentioned in this post, it will be a pink, white and mauve affair, with lots of ruffles! I have chosen her cake:

{Image from here}

How could I go past the famous Martha Stewart Ruffle Tower Cake! I just hope I can do it justice. Once the cake was decided on the next thing was what to put on the top? I thought about making something out of modelling paste, but it just didn't seem right, so I checked out Etsy and Madeit to see what I could find. A clothespin doll topper was my choice.

I was lucky enough to come across a talented lady on Madeit, Sarah of Enchanted Belles, who managed to create exactly what I visioned. As I have purchased Claire's birthday outfit, Sarah made the dollie topper an outfit to match.

What do you think? Isn't she gorgeous! I think she will be the perfect finishing touch to the cake. Be sure to check out Sarah's blog, Enchanted Belles, and see the gorgeous wedding cake toppers, dollies and personalised door plaques.

Thankyou Sarah for creating this for Claire :)

Oh and another thing, I have reached 20 followers, HOORAY, thankyou all for supporting my little blog, I really appreciate it.

Enjoy your weekend.

Party Planning has begun!

I am in party planning mode at the moment, I have Lachlan's 7th birthday coming up at the end of August and Claire's 1st birthday at the start of October. The birthday celebrations are always at the back of my mind, so if I see something that may fit the theme I purchase it and tuck it away, just in case I can't find it closer to the party.

The internet and blogging world provides new ideas and inspiration each day, so lots of ideas are put in the party planning folder as I come across them. I am loving the use of giant balloons as a feature on a candy table.

The colour scheme for Lachlan's party will be yellow, green and red with a touch of black. The cake will be a Super Mario Bros theme, I am thinking a castle with the characters climbing the walls at the moment, but how it all comes together may change as I start to make it! So this has now changed since posting this afternoon, Lachlan has decided he wants a Lego themed party, so the colours will stay the same, the cake will now resemble lego in some form. Much easier than making Mario related figurines!! It will make the party favours fun now, I will be off to search for little boxes of lego. This is now locked in and there will be no changing of anyones mind, I have this in writing now, LOL!!! I have purchased some green and yellow M&M's and mentos (thankyou to the socceroo campaign at the supermarkets during the World Cup!!!) for the candy jars. Some jaffa's will also be on the list.

I have a gorgeous black cake stand coming for the cake to be displayed on from Sharnel Dollar Designs. So am now on the hunt for some black serving plates and bowls.

It will be a pink, white and mauve birthday princess theme for Claire's birthday in October. I have purchased Claire's outfit and lot's of other supplies for the candy / dessert table.

These gorgeous items arrived in the post yesterday.

Ruffles will play a big role in the decorations and the cake. Thinking about it I have lots to do!!

Off to search for more inspiration. Enjoy your weekend.

P.S. My life is crazy busy at the moment, so I have been neglecting all the fabulous blogs, but hopefully will get back to them all by the weekend.

Emily's 8th Birthday Sleepover Party - THE PARTY!

The party day has finally arrived. I was up early this morning finishing off the cupcakes and baking gingerbread cookies to complete the candy / dessert table for my niece Emily's 8th Birthday Party. I had emailed the birthday girl some pictures of the cake and cookies, and she was most excited!

With the car all packed, I headed off to my sister's to set it all up. I was very pleased with the final result and hopefully the girls will enjoy the candy/dessert table as much as I enjoyed putting it all together.

The cake took centre stage on the table and set the colour tone for the rest of the table. There were mini marshmallow, musk sticks, sherbet sticks, sherbet lollipop's, fruity mentos, fruit tingles and musk lifesavers for the candy. The desserts, all made by me, were vanilla and chocolate cupcakes, vanilla sugar cookies, gingerbread butterfly cookies and the birthday cake was chocolate cake. Party cups and plates by Sambellina.

The cake was a bed filled with little girls, all personalised with hair colour and style, to represent the sleepover. It was chocolate cake with butter cream and fondant icing. The decorations on the cake were made from modelling paste.

The cupcakes were my favourite recipe which is chocolate and vanilla sponge cake with butter cream swirls and fondant disc's. Pictured here with the vanilla sugar cookies.

I made gingerbread for the first time today using my friend's recipe from over at the Clayton's Blog.

It is an easy recipe to make and tasted delicious.

The finishing touch was the cookies to go in the party bags. These were personalised for each guest.

It was a pleasure to create this for my niece, Happy Birthday Emily Rose xx

Sneak Peek : Emily's 8th Birthday Sleepover Party - Part 3.

The party is one day away and I have almost finished all the baking that I am doing for my niece. This morning I completed the cookies for the candy/dessert table and also the cookie bags for the girls to take home with them. Keeping with the Sleepover Theme, I searched Flickr and found some fabulous ideas which inspired these.

They are little girls in sleeping bags on a vanilla sugar cookie. Each is personalised with their name and hair colour/style.

The cookies for the candy/dessert table are also vanilla sugar cookies with fondant icing. As you can see I have been getting a lot of use out of my new Message in a Cookie set!

The cake and cupcakes are waiting to be decorated. Please stop by tomorrow to see the completed party setup.

Sneak Peek : Emily's 8th Birthday Sleepover Party - Part 1.

Here is a sneak peek at what I am busy doing this week. My niece is turning 8 at the weekend and is having her very first sleepover birthday party. I have started getting organised today, as I am making the cake, cupcakes and cookies. I am also helping my sister create a mini candy and dessert table for the party.

I have made the cupcake toppers, in the theme colours of pink and mauve. I found the sherbert straws when I was at the local petrol station this morning, and thought these would look great on the candy table!

Next on the list is the decorations for the birthday cake, which I will keep as a surprise.....
