http://www.stomp.com.sg/stompcast/index.html# Check this out. It's about Hossan Leong making a point on the importance and the meaning of speaking Good English movement. It's really hilarious how he tries to show that speaking good english doesnt mean that we have to speak with an accent. Imagine speaking singlish in an american accent. I find it hilarious while it does make a point.

Sometimes i wonder, within a month, there can be Speak Good English and Mandarin campaign running concurrently. How can our younger students be expected to master both languages properly at the same times. Imagine the confusion. I am trying to get Claudia to speak English properly without the lah, meh and loh. (it's hard! school really bring good and bad influences. now nathan is picking up singlish too! double bad) At least im not worried about Chloe, although she doesnt speak clearly, but i know she's speaking good english. She even picked up an accent, from all the Dora, Strawberry Shortcake and Carebear shows that she's been watching.

Maybe due to both campaigns running simultaneously, children picks up singlish. I really wonder whether this point is a factor affecting people to speak singlish.

elaine's dad in law passed away this morning. as such i will be staying at their place these few days. it was very sudden as all these while he's been alright aside from his kidney condition. I guess the dialysis did little to help him with the conditions all this while. it's so sad and shocking. everything was too fast and too sudden. He died upon reaching the hospital. In the ambulance his heart stopped beating.

haiz. at least now he's gone back to the LOrd's and will be enjoying himself in His comfort. a place with no more sadness and suffering. life is so unpredictable. one moment we can still laugh and have fun with our loved ones, the next we may just lose one another. no one knows what happens next. treasure ur loved ones, and never take it for granted.

im back

yay! back from HK trip... so sad u know... it just seems like yesterday that i left Singapore and now im back again le. now that im back, it's good but also weird. i have a my best fren's companion with me for the past 5 days every night, and now im back at my own place on my own. it's a bit weird.

Hong Kong was fun! Hot! and tiring. EVRYDAY, we WALKED from morning till night. By the time the sun sets, we were dragging ourselves back to the hotel. putting all our stuff in and then going down again to go get dinner or supper. walking around the hotel to find a place that sells authetic food. we had wonton mee. real wonton me... not like the stingy singapore where the wonton is tiny. oh i loved this road-stall snack, octopus leg but in HK they called it squids legs but it's really octopus legs.. meiyi got disgusted at it but i love it! really chewy! very nice... =) and the other thing we love to eat was the mango dessert in HongKong. The ice cream is solid mango! everything about it is so nice that before we left sg, we had one last cup before we flew off.

Shopping wise, i didnt really shop for anything. Couldnt even find anything to buy for my family. the Hongkongers also have this thing with layered clothings. they just keep on adding on layers and layers of clothes despite the hot weather!. It's summer for goodness sake not winter. I wonder how will their winter be. Im lucky for i maybe able to experience winter there next year.

i have uploaded the pictures into my photo album, Msn Space. just click the link

no more late nights. WC fever is over..

a disappointing end as Italy won the WC. disappointing as the Les Bleus missed 1 goal.

okay time to continue with my lazing days and come to think of it, its 1 more week to my trip. YAY! but it means after the trip i have about 2 weeks left to enjoy what's left of my holidays! ARGHHHH..

i dont want to go back to schOOl! it means i must study hard this sem!! 7 modules!! im hoping that it will be a 4-day week thing for me. GOD HELP ME SURVIVE the rest of my years!

Oh something interesting and something that the paper has been emphasising recently. www.ihateronaldo.com check it out! today in the papers, it was even written how the English policemen are worried about the safety of the Portugal player should he make it back to the country. Christiano Ronaldo is defintely the hated figure of the year! Did anyone manage to see all that dives he made during the 3rd placing game? It was clear enough to show Meiyi the meaning of diving.

last saturday went for a shopping session with Meiyi. After reading up about this factory outlet in Holland village selling american brand clothings, we decided to give it a shot. In the beginning Meiyi was like grabbing a bunch of clothes to try while I had only 1 to try, but gradually i grab more things while she was discarding the pieces that she tried on. In the end, i was the that shopped the most, with me shopping for 5-6 items while she, 3 i tems. =_=!!! and after the shopping, we realised that we didnt even had lunch. we shopped to the point that we were feeling full from all that shopping. After shopping till i burnt a hole in my wallet, we went to Coffee Bean to lim kopi ( drink coffee; mei always laugh when i say this term) with Jamie. Since Jamie had to go visit her grandpa, both of us went home. I made dinner and after that we both just lazed around! I had actually planned to sleep before going out to Clarke Quay to watch the match, but yeah looking at how tired that meiyi is and yet she still doesnt mind to accompany me to watch WC, i gave her one treat; a good back massage! after that we were off to watch the match.

It was really lively! How 90% of the people supported the Germans. We all jumped for joy when the German scored their first! If watching with other avid fans are this lively, i dont want to miss watching the soccer live!! I hope I can go and watch the next WC in Cape Town, South Africa. That would be real interesting.

current ambition: become an aspiring chef!

without realising, i'm currently left with 1 month of holiday till the start of school! So terrifying! I hate school now.. i hate what im studying! arghh.. 2 more years till the torture ends. I dont want to get back to school. i wanna finish studying soon!

i dont know how am i supposed to survive working in engineering line.

these few weeks due to the low carbs diet, i have been cooking a lot of meat and cheese. So far i have succeeded in making burgers patties (taste damn good!), baked salmon with cheese and spinach, beef tomato stew and my fave mushroom and cheese bruschetta. i love the bruschetta so much that i have been making them almost everyday. i love cheese, cheese and more cheese. I have come to realise how easy western cooking is compared to Asian cooking. Even comparing time taken to prepare as well as the fussiness of making the spices, western food is so much easier and faster to prepare.

next time when i have my own place, i will definitely buy an oven!!

frustrated......

the Italians scored 2 GOALS in the LAST MINUTE of second extra time!!!! in the 29th and 30th minute!!!!

and all the time they were diving here and there trying to get free kicks. my heart goes out to the Germans, they played so well! just lacking of luck!!! i was expecting the two teams to go into penalty shoot-out!!!! BUT WHO EXPECTED THAT ITALY TO SCORE 2 GOALS IN!!!!!!

ARGHHH darn!!!!

a lot of people must be losing money over this game!!!!

France u better get into the final and beat Italy, i tell u! I'm pinning all my hope on you now....

Crime doesnt regard time and places.

Today went to indo service since I couldnt wake up to go to the morning english service. After the service i met up with Ami, as well as my students. Then Ami wanted to pay for the cards that she bought when she realised that someone had stolen her handbag in church! It was so shocking that someone would actually steal handbags in church! It was so outrageous that the person would actually steal it under everyone's nose!!!

After reporting it to the elders in church, they (me and a group of her friends called her phone and apparently we heard bus noises so we figured that the person already left church) gathered all of us together and said a prayer together as a church. Hopefully that person will return her, her belongings.

England went home...

2 weeks ago when SUperman returns advanced ticket booking was open, I immediately place a booking cos i know meiyi wants to watch it. We changed the ticket timing 3 times as it coincides with a lot of important stuff that we have to attend to. Finally we changed the ticket timing to yesterday 1030pm show as i had my uncle's housewarming party tht i need to attend. And the worst thing is that i changed it without realising that at that same timing, England was going to face Portugal in the Quarterfinal!!!! It was only yestrday that i realised it and i was really hoping that Superman will not be a really long show, so that i can catch a glimpse of the game. But who knows Superman was a 2.5 hours show!!! When it ended, i was so sad cos i thot i had missed the game but i was still hoping that they'll extend into extra time, which it did.

We saw a crowd watching the WC at Ben and Jerry's. So the accomodating mei (she doesnt really watch soccer) accompanied me to watch the extra half time and to witness the penalty shot out. When Portugal went first, I (as well as other England fans) was grimacing in pain to watch them score the first penalty! It was even heartbreaking knowing Lampard (he has no luck in scoring goals these few matches in WC) missed the goal! But a flicker of hope alighted in me when Portugal missed their goal! And I was even happier when England scored a goal!!! there's a chance!!!! I was mad when Gerrard couldnt even score!!!!! and When Portugal scored another 2 more goals, my heart cried in anguish!!!!! England went home in the QF of WC!!!

After that we went on to McDonalds in PS hoping that they'll be showing the later match, Brazil vs France. Meiyi was so nice to offer to watch with me (rarely! hahahaha), and so we almost bought a full meal since we were feeling guilty to just buy a packet of apple dippers just to watch a soccer match. Half hour before the game, meiyi suspected that the PS outlet were not going to show the soccer match, and her suspicion was confirmed by the waiter in McD by giving us a list of the McDonalds stores that are showing the game and PS was not in the list. SuCks! So we ended the night just like that... sent meiyi home and then by the time i reach home, i thank god that i have a partner to watch the game with me. And im so proud of France!!! especially Zidane! He's real good! Look at him handling the balls and playing soccer, it's truly just like another Adidas advertisements. I hope France goes all the way to the Finals.
