Card Patterns #98 - Birthday and Christmas

Thanks card patterns for the great sketch. I needed a couple masculine b-day cards (a guy at work and my dad) so I used the sketch. I also had all these cool small bingo cards cut out for x-mas (from the cutting cafe) so I made a Christmas card too!

X-Mas Cards (2 Sketches 4 You) + Give Thanks!

Yesterday, I finally sat down and figured out how many cards I need that are extra special for close family and friends(haven't done those yet) and how many I need for those that aren't as close. I'm making several of these for friends and people at work! I used the Cutting Cafe (see link to the right of the blog) Bingo Cards. I used paper that I got last year and ribbon that I had gotten on sale at Michael's or had in my stash. I embellished with penguins or the metal holiday wishes. Both were in my stash. The penguins I got in the summer at Michael's for 49 cents on clearance! Glad I'm using them and didn't just lose them in my stuff! Thanks Laura for a great sketch!

I'm also including a Thanksgiving door hanger I made for a friend of mine to give to her daughter who teaches school! I used a card patterns sketch but it is way past the week when it was posted! I used both quickutz and the cricut on this one!

Have a great turkey day!

2 Sketches 4 You and Pink Elephant

I turned Kazan's sketch #48 to make some Christmas cards! I know it is early but my new year's resolution was not to be stressed out about x-mas cards in December! The paper is all a me and my big ideas x-mas paper pack. Die cuts are all cricut!

I used the 2 Sketches 4 You bonus sketch this week to create a spring door hanger (spring was the Pink Elephant Challenge this week). I had so much fun with it. I got the new spring glitter stack from DCWV and used coordinating paper from it. The bird house and the S are cut using the cricut songbird cartridge (lovin' it!). pring! are from Don Juan. I made the flowers using a technique I discovered in the recent issue of creating keepsakes. It was very fun. The butterfly is from the floral department at Michael's (a clearance item).
Thanks for taking a peak!

Christmas and St. Patrick's Day!

I know! Christmas and St. Patrick's day - what do they have in common! Nothing except I finished 2 things yesterday! One was my goal to do 10-15 Christmas cards each month so when I get to December I'm not stressed out!

I used Card Patterns #55, Bo Bunny paper (the santa), and Basic Grey Fruit Cake paper along with some buttons and ribbon I've had in my stash for quite some time to make some cards. These cards satisfied my committment to myself for February (I didn't do any in February) and little for March!

My next project is one I've worked on for a couple weeks now. I had had St. Pat day pictures taken (or I took them) every year for quite some time to make cards. I found this really cool board book and paper kit from Little Yellow Bicycle and decided to go through all those pictures and create sort of keepsake of st. pat pictures. I made 3 of these books ~ one for me, one for my daughter, and one for my son!

The little kit of paper is so cool because it is cut to the shape of the board book (each page is a little different shape). There are also extra pieces of paper so you can back your pictures and some little stickers to embellish with (like the Lucky Me on the cover). I added a few other things and it was done! I had most of it done a couple weeks ago but I needed some pictures from this year to complete it.

I'm looking forward to seeing if Little Yellow Bicycle will come out with some other really fun books like this!

I love these pics on the back cover ~ Shaina is so serious and Carl is clowing around!

Christmas Door Hangers!

Just in the Nick of time! I made a couple Christmas door hangers ~ one for work and one for our front door! All the letters are from the cricut! "have a" and the "J" in Jolly are Gypsy font. The M in Merry is from Hannah Montana (it is a really cool font and you don't have to like the show to like the cartridge!), H is from story book and the rest of the letters in jolly, merry, happy are from Base Camp. Holiday is from Alphalicious.

I used a potpourri of paper that I had lying around ~ I got out a bunch of Christmas paper when I made cards (which I think totalled somewhere just under 100!). I'm going to start early next year (I've got 4 left over from this year so that is a good start)!

Merry Christmas!!

2S4Y - Laura Sketch 41 - Another Christmas Card

I'm still working on Christmas stuff!!! I feel so unorganized this year!

Here is my take on Laura's Sketch 41. I made 12 of these and have more stuff cut out to make some more! I really like the pink for Christmas!

I did manage to finally get my packages mailed today so I just need to get some more cards mailed and ready to take to work!

Take care and have a great weekend!

Card Patterns #44 and Count Down to Christmas Calendars

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I worked on Disney scrapbooks and Christmas cards and cleaned house!!! I'm sure you can guess what was my least favorite thing!

Here is my card for Card Patterns Sketch 44. I used Basic Gray fruitcake paper for the background and the "Christmas Stamp" paper is Graphic 45 (I'm so loving Graphic 45 right now and the nostalgic look). The snow flake was cut out of sparkly paper with the cricut solutions cartridge, When it is Cold Outside (I just got it in the mail yesterday!). I added a green button with red skinny ribbon and a making memories stick pin. The top ribbon I just got at Michaels (1/2 price with 15% off tonight!!).

I finished these 2 Countdown to Christmas calendars today also. Michaels had a demo of countdown calendars but they did not have any of the round favor containers or the smaller wooden wreath so I had to improvise with hearts and a bigger wreath.

The first one is for my daughter so I used pastel reindeer paper and used all pastels. I cut the numbers with cricut Don Juan.

For my son's, I used more traditional colors.

They both have yummy candy in them: cookies and creme, peppermint patties, rolos, and reeses peanut butter bells.

Hopefully they won't get into them before the 12 days of Christmas!!!

Hope everyone has a great week!

2S4Y - Christmas "card" Booklet for Family!

This week I used Laura's sketch 40 combined with a little idea from JoAnn.com to come up with my x-mas cards for my close family. I only plan to make 20 of these because they are a little bit of work!

The "wishlist" tag is something that I had in my stash. The patterned paper is all from Basic Grey Fruitcake (I've been hoarding it for awhile!) and the little santa is from Graphic 45. I used a border punch, regular ric rac, and a cool brad from K and Company that I picked up packages on clearance after Christmas last year at Michaels.

The first picture is the cover.

Here it is with all 4 panels. The booklet pages are 4 X 4 so I printed the pictures as "index prints."

The 2009 is from the cricut Graphically Speaking cartridge.

This last picture shows how the ribbon can be tied around the booklet to keep it together.
It was a very fun project (hope it is as fun for the next 19).
I'm looking forward to the next sketch because I have lots more cards to design and make!!! Nothing like waiting till the last minute!

Card Patterns #43 - Another Try!

I was not happy with the original card I made for Card Patterns #43 so here is another try!
I'm going to need a lot more Christmas cards this year than in the past because of the job I have this year.
I used patterned paper from the Basic Grey fruitcake collection (I've been holding on to it for awhile!) and the little santa image is from Graphic 45. There are little stickle dots around the santa image if you look close. The fancy brad is a K and Company brad that I got a bunch of after Christmas last year (now I wish I had more!).
I think this card turned out way better than the other one I did! I think I will make several patterns of Christmas cards and give them to different groups of people!

Kazan's Sketch #40 (2S4Y), Card Patterns 42 and 43

I'm very last minute, but here is my take on Kazan's Sketch #40 over at 2 Sketches 4 You. I used scraps to do this so it was very fun! The Thanks is from Cricut Beyond Birthdays and So Much is from Cricut Don Juan. The parens are from Cricut George. The little medallion is a Wilton Favor I found in the wedding aisle at Michaels!

I'm always in need of Thank You's so I also made a thank you for Card Patterns Sketch #43 (I'm ahead on this one!). I also used scraps. It feels so good to use some up!

And last but not least is a card that I started for Card Patterns #42 before the deadline but didn't finish until after. I thought it turned out cute so I still wanted to post it!

I hope everyone had a happy turkey day! I've got turkey enchiladas in the oven as I write this!

Take care and have a nice rest of the weekend!

Holiday Cards

I finally finished my Christmas Cards! I still have to snap a picture of the kids and put it inside but the fronts are done and the envelopes are addressed! I picked out the paper in July and thought I would be farther ahead but I'm still doing better than last year! I had the paper in my stash and I was trying to do them all like the one on the left (all the paper on that one is from the DCWV 2007 Christmas Glitter stack but had to use some other paper because I didn't have enough - part of the paper for the one on the right came from the DCWV 2006 Christmas Glitter Stack. All of them turned out pretty well. I had lots more "holidays" cut out so am trying to use them for other cards (guess I miscounted!). Anyway, the card on the bottom is one for my boss that we will all sign and give him a gift card to Borders as he loves to read.
"happy" is quickutz revolution from "happy birthday"
Holidays is cut with sizzlet "slim jim" font
the ornament is from the quickutz revolution 2008 holiday gift set.

A beautiful girl in Orchestra! And 2 Sketches 4 You (Kazan Sketch 15 and Heidi Bonus Sketch - Week of Dec 8, 2008)

This has been a very busy week! My daughter Shaina had her Orchestra Concert on Tuesday night. They played 3 songs and she got to introduce one! She is 10 and in 5th grade but I think she looks so grown up when she is all dressed up! She did awesome! My parents came back through here to see the concert (they had been in California seeing my sister and her kids). Then on Wednesday, Shaina was part of her school choir that performed at the state capitol. Our state capitol is always decorated beautifully for the holidays and it was nice that my parents got to see that concert too. I also got to show them around the capitol and the decorations! They left today because the weather is looking like it is going to get cold and snow. Shaina had her regular choir concert tonight and did awesome! Next week it is a band concert for my son!

I really liked the sketches this week at 2 Sketches 4 You! I thought they had very clean lines. For the bonus sketch (Heidi's), I used Cosmo Cricket paper that I got as a gift for being one of the first 50 shoppers the day after Thanksgiving at Scrapbook Fever (Salem, OR). The Merry Christmas and holly leaves are from the quickutz revolution 2008 holiday gift set. I used a fiskars border punch and embosser for the redish paper (it was really sticking so this was a lot of work today!).

Kazan's Sketch also had really clean lines. I used this paper from the 2007 DCWV Christmas Glitter Stack, the snowflake is made from DCWV glitter paper and the Don Juan cartridge for the cricut. The lace was used to tie up the cosmo cricket free package that I got the day after Thanksgiving!
I still don't have my christmas cards done! I have more letters to cut out and I need to take a picture of my kids! I can't believe I actually started part of them in July and still don't have them done! But this weekend I will have some time because my daughter is going to Sunriver with her friend's family and my son is inviting another boy over to hang out. We also might have snow this weekend! I like it a lot better when it snows on the weekend on not weekdays!!!
Thanks for stopping by!

2 Sketches 4 You Kazan's Sketch Week of Nov 10, 2008 and the Card-A-Licious Challenge of the week

The Card-A-Licious Challenge this week was to make a card out of a file folder. I used a regular file folder and cut it down to the size of a 6 X 6 card and then covered it with paper. The paper is Basic Grey "Boxer." For some reason when I thought of the file folder, I thought of work and then bosses day (it is in October so we just had it). My boss is a man and I usually have problems thinking up masculine card ideas so thought this challenge would be the perfect opportunity!!! Just think, this may be the card I give him next year and it is already made. Maybe I will think of something better during the year but if I don't, I'm saving myself time in Oct 09.

Here is my take on 2 Sketches 4 You, Kazan's Sketch 13. It was really a fun card to put together! The patterned paper is all from the Me and My Big Ideas Christmas Stack that I just got at Michael's (with a 50% coupon!), Joy is from one of the original sizzix alphabets. The earth is a quickutz, the round circle is cut from a revolution cookie cutter and stamped with a Daisy Bucket Stamp. The bird is cut from a sizzlet (the paper is sparkly), the corners are quickutz, and the flourish is a revolution die. The blue felt ribbon is creative imaginations.

Thanks for taking a look at all these!

2 Sketches 4 You ~ Laura's Sketch ~ Week of Nov 3, 2008

I had an idea for the sketch ~ sugarplums dancing ~ but it just didn't work out very well so I did the fall card. I like it alot better. I also like using some of the non-traditional colors for fall, like purple!
Thanks for taking a look!
