Anwar: Deepavali sebagai ingatan terus lawan kejahatan
http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/318808

8 Nov 2015, 12:17 petang      8 Nov 2015, 12:54 petang

Will Jamil Khir ban the Valentine's Yemeni cookies?

From Yemen with love!

Yes, everyone fell in love with the yummy cookies that my Yemeni colleague made!

One Malay 'tudung' girl took a bite and blurted, 'Qasem, oh my god, marry me!'

BUY THIS FOR YOUR MUM FOR VALENTINE'S DAY

Location: Secret Market @ Bungalow 153, Jalan Ampang

Date: Saturday, 11/02/2012

A seller of preloved stuff to a kid:
Buy this for your mum for Valentine's Day.

Kid:
No way, she's going to kill me with it!

What was it? Simply a doggie pie server. 8D

This seller was a Muslim and mother of two kids. She was wearing a tudung ikat belakang.

She was just trying to suggest to the kid who was her relative to buy the pie server for his mom as a Valentine's Day gift.

Though Valentine's Day was originally meant for couples, it has, over the years, evolved to become a Day dedicated to demonstrating love!

So, I just don't understand why there are people who are demonstrating against demonstrating love!

This is my first blog post for Chinese New Year (CNY) this year after the celebration is over.

This video was taken on the first day of CNY - Monday, January 23, 2012.

The fireworks had 18 shots and lasted for approximately 1 minute.

FOUR SEAS Bangsar: Nice eating exotic escargot!

First Chinese New Year (CNY) reunion dinner @ FOUR SEAS Bangsar located at Jalan Bangkung.

 Food was good.

A quiet place to enjoy your dinner if you want to get away from the noise pollution in typical Chinese restaurants during the CNY festive season.

Hmm...I don't remember eating escargot before.
I asked what escargot was and 'snail' was the answer.

Haha! I'm about to take the first bite of escargot here.
How did it taste? Rubbery clam.

Happy Mother's Day: Mothers Nurture the Destiny of Their Children! Power!

2:1

The Birth of the Deliverer

1
A man from the household 2  of Levi married 3  a woman who was a descendant of Levi. 4  2:2 The woman became pregnant 5  and gave birth to a son. When 6  she saw that 7  he was a healthy 8  child, she hid him for three months. 2:3 But when she was no longer able to hide him, she took a papyrus basket 9  for him and sealed it with bitumen and pitch. She put the child in it and set it among the reeds along the edge of the Nile. 10  2:4 His sister stationed herself 11  at a distance to find out 12  what would 13  happen to him.

2:5 Then the daughter of Pharaoh 14  came down to wash herself 15  by the Nile, while her attendants were walking alongside the river, 16  and she saw the basket among the reeds. She sent one of her attendants, 17  took it, 18  2:6 opened it, 19  and saw the child 20 a boy, 21  crying! 22  – and she felt compassion 23  for him and said, “This is one of the Hebrews’ children.”
2:7 Then his sister said to Pharaoh’s daughter, “Shall I go and get 24  a nursing woman 25  for you from the Hebrews, so that she may nurse 26  the child for you? 2:8 Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Yes, do so.” 27  So the young girl 28  went and got 29  the child’s mother. 30  2:9 Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this child 31  and nurse him for me, and I will pay your 32  wages.” So the woman took the child and nursed him.
2:10 When the child grew older 33  she brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. 34  She named him Moses, saying, “Because I drew him from the water.” 35

There is no doubt that Jochebed, Moses' mother, played a significant role in shaping Moses' destiny as the Deliverer.

Look! Are they not Muslim children joining the celebration of Valentine love?

Monday February 14, 2011

A love that never grows old

KUALA TERENGGANU: An elderly couple from Kampung Bukit Bucu in Batu Rakit, here, celebrated Valentine’s Day early – and for the first time in their life.

The candlelight dinner for octogenarian Chin Yi Ai, 88, and his wife Tay Sek Hue, 79, was organised by six of their children, three of whom are now Muslims.

Chin and Tay married five decades ago but never celebrated Valentine’s Day due to family commitments.

“This is what Valentine’s Day is all about. During our younger days, we never had the chance to celebrate this event.
“I wish I was younger so I could express my undivided love to my wife during this auspicious day,” a frail Chin murmured when met on Saturday night.
The couple’s children and grandchildren were present to add to the merriment.
Chin’s only daughter, Faridah Chin Abdullah, 40, said her siblings decided to hold a Valentine’s Day dinner for their aging parents this year as they never had one before.
Faridah said she spoke to her Muslim brothers Abdul Manan Abdullah, 50, and Anuar Abdullah, 42, and they agreed.
“Islam promotes love and affection between people. We felt there was nothing wrong organising this dinner for our parents as our gift to them,” she said.
“I do agree from the Islamic viewpoint that unmarried couples should not celebrate as it could lead to immoral activities,” she said.

What a lovely sight!

Parents, children and grandchildren celebrating Valentine together!

The children (or grandchildren!) will surely grow up to be loving adults who will not fall into sexual sins!

They will only make love after their holy matrimony!

Valentine's Day is a very important day for us to impart good values to our children and grandchildren!

How many did 'get permits for fireworks'? Not many, I believe. Who cares? - Video of fireworks taken using xperia x10 mini pro

‘Get permits for fireworks’

TANGKAK: Residents celebrating Chinese New Year in Ledang are urged to apply for police permits if they want to let off firecrackers and fireworks.
Speaking to some 20 Chinese community leaders in the district, Ledang police chief Supt Harun Idris said the “pop-pop” firecrackers which do not contain explosive materials do not need permits.
“However, those who want to celebrate the festive season with firecrackers and fireworks can apply for the permits,” he said at the Ledang police operations room on Friday.
Funny. I wonder why this short news report and why only the residents celebrating Chinese New Year (CNY) in Ledang were urged to 'get permit for fireworks'. No wonder I seemed to see and hear more firecrackers and fireworks being let off this year than last year.
Here's a video of fireworks somewhere in Puchong.

Father's Day, founded by a woman, is 100 years old! ;)

Historically, Father's Day was first celebrated one year after Mother's Day was first celebrated in 1909. For more information, go to Spokane: Birthplace of Father's Day 2010 Centennial Celebration.

Why 'Mother's Day' and not 'Mothers Day'? HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Historically (and traditionally), Mother's Day is celebrated annually on "second Sunday in May".

Why?

According to Mother's Day - Wikipedia, In 1912, Anna Jarvis trademarked the phrases "second Sunday in May" and "Mother's Day", and created the Mother's Day International Association. So, why 'Mother's Day' and not 'Mothers Day'? Wikipedia gives us the answer: "She (Anna Jarvis) was specific about the location of the apostrophe; it was to be a singular possessive, for each family to honour their mother, not a plural possessive commemorating all mothers in the world."

Indeed Mother's Day is a personal celebration! No one can replace one's mother biologically. Nevertheless, there are instances when one can 'mother' someone as in the case of an adoption or perhaps on a mentoring basis. In Romans 16:13, the Apostle Paul said:

"Salute Rufus chosen in the Lord, and his mother and mine."

We know Paul was not referring to his own biological mother but rather, Rufus' mother who had become Paul's own mother. Rufus' mother is believed to be instrumental in mentoring Paul in his early Christian life. In short, she was Paul's spiritual parent. (read 'The Mother of the Apostle Paul').

Betty's Midwest Kitchen - America on a plate @ Aman Suria Damansara

Had a so-called CNY reunion dinner at Betty's Midwest Kitchen last Thursday.
A 5-month-plus old restaurant, Betty's Midwest Kitchen is located at an obscure place -almost at the 'tail end' of Aman Suria.

Here are some videos.
(No pictures of the food)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, STEPHIE!

360° (almost lah!) of the interior of Betty's Midwest Kitchen

Janson having fun - squat, shake butt, 'ma bu'!

I'm not a foodie. So, I can't really review the food.
All I can say is that the burger (it was called 'pull pork' something) I ordered and ate was nice.

I also ended up eating the big sausage (it was for my son's kid's meal). It was...
Shall I say I was not used to the taste of it?
Thus, I had to dip it in the sauce for every bite I took.

Ok...if you want food reviews just google 'betty's' for pages from Malaysia and you will find them.

'Pantyless Valentine's' raises ire of Muslim NGOs

Muslim NGOs are seeing red over a Valentine's Day campaign. And it has nothing to do with the colour of love. Gone are the days when one showed his or her love with gifts of chocolates and flowers, romantic poems and candlelight dinners as the trend now is to go 'pantyless' on Valentine's Day, at least according to a campaign making its rounds among university students in Shah Alam.

Islamic group Jemaah Islah Malaysia (JIM) women's wing chief Dr Ruziaton Hasim said that Valentine's Day (said to originate from the celebration of St Valentine) was itself unIslamic. Thus, it should not be celebrated by Muslims. When contacted by
Malaysiakini, Ruziaton said, “Now they're going even further and encouraging girls not to wear panties on this day.”

The article by Malaysiakini ended with the statement 'It is not known, however, how they will determine who is - or isn't - wearing panties this Valentine's Day'. HAHA. Exactly as what I thought. These people would really need to scan for the panty lines...what a stimulating job! ;)
