New York City Subway R32 Cars Retired

Hi all!

From 1964 to 1965 the Budd Company build 600 stainless steel subway cars for the New York City Subway.

These cars were known as the R32 and R32A type.

They were also known as “Brightliners”.

The R32 cars were numbered 3350 to 3649 and the R32A cars were numbered 3650 to 3949.

As of the night of 1/11/2020 New York time the remaining R32’s were retired from regular passenger service.

Some may be seen out on movie trains.

I dare say some will be kept for heritage trains.

I have heard some have been stored so that if they really really need them they can use them however that’s doubtful as more of the new R179 fleet enter service.

The photo provided shows a trains made of R32 type cars on a C line train at Fulton Street station on 28/5/2019.

We will be getting 17 new sets which will be numbered B25 through to B41.

These photo’s mainly show B25 however in one photo we see another set in the background which at a guess is B26.

Here are some interior photo’s.

Sydney Trains Vlogs: Waratah A42 Returns to Servie

Hi all.
Waratah set A42 which was damaged as a result of hitting the buffers at Richmond station Platform 2 in January 2018 has returned to service.
It returned to service in late March 2019.

D6342 being the carriage that hit the buffers is still at Cardiff.
PPTV carriage D6379 is replacing D6342 for the time being.

This set has all new gangways as most of the old ones were damaged in the accident.

In the photo above we see A42 at Central as it leaves Platform 17 for a City Circle service with D6379 being the closest car to the camera.

Below is a couple of showing A42 at Richmond on the day of the accident.

XRN Classes Have A New Livery

Hi all!
I just want to talk about something that had changed a few months ago that i was a bit slow at capturing.
The XRN Class C44aci fleet that were with Xstrata Rail National (XRN) and Glencore have been bought by Genesee & Wyoming (G&W) along with the company.
The XRN fleet are in progress of receiving the G&W Livery.

The photo below shows locomotive XRN013 with the G&W livery.

This is actually my first photo of an XRN Class in this livery as i haven’t really had the time to make my way up to the Hunter etc until the day the photo was taken (4/1/2018).

New Trains For Sydney Coming 2018

Hi all.
Exciting news for train buffs in Sydney.
We are getting new trains!
They will be similar in appearance to our Waratah A Sets.
The new trains will be known as B Sets and there will be 24 of them.
Numbered B1 - B24.
They will be 8 car sets just like the Waratahs.
The first one is due to arrive in approx March 2018.

Sadly as the new trains arrive our S Set fleet will be progressively scrapped.
I will put 2 photo’s below.
The photo’s show stickers that are placed in every S Set carriage.

So by next summer the all trains on the Sydney Trains network will have air conditioning.

That is all for this blog.
Thank you for reading and i’ll catch you all next time.

Locomotive NR8 Fire!

Typed on: Monday 4th April 2016:

Hi all and welcome to another STV Blog.

Major delays and the partial closure of the Central Coast and Newcastle line between Hamilton and Fassifern were experienced today due to a fire that broke out on Pacific National Locomotive NR8 travelling from Whyalla (South Australia) to Newcastle (New South Wales).
The fire broke out somewhere between Fassifern and Hamilton.

The damage was extensive and there is no word on whether NR8 will be scrapped or not.

The fire was caused by an engine failure.

Thats all the information i have at the moment.
If any more information comes to hand ill type an update Blog.

Sydney Metro Northwest Getting a Move On

Friday 12th February 2016

Hi all and welcome to another STV Blog.

Today i want to talk about Sydney Metro Northwest's Skytrain bridge.
On the way to Epping every morning i pass through the Sunnyholt Rd/Memorial Avenue & Windsor Rd intersection in Kellyville and the launching crane that lifts the Skytrain segments into place had been sitting in the same spot for months.
Ive been waiting for the moment when the launching crane crosses Memorial Ave and finally that time has come!!

Photo below taken on Wednesday 10th February 2016.
The photo shows the launching crane sitting over Memorial Avenue.
When the segments start getting lifted there will be road closures and detours.

The photo below was taken the following day, Thursday 11th February 2016.
This photo shows the first few bridge segments being lifted into place.
Roads have not yet been closed.

Thank you all for reading this Blog.
More updates will be posted as more photo ops arise.

New Tangara Light Weight Plug Doors

Sunday 7th February 2016

New Tangara Light Weight Plug Doors.

Back in 2014 there were a couple of trial Tangara's that recieved the new light weight plug doors which strongly resemble M Set doors but i assure you they are not M Set doors, apart from the window shape they are completely different.
The very first Tangara to get the new doors was T96 followed by T33 & T64.

In 2015 the trial was a sucess.
In the second half of 2015 the rest of the Tangara fleet started receiving the new light weight plug doors.
As of February 2016 almost half the Tangara fleet have the new doors.

These new doors do not have panels below the windows so undesirable idiots can't kick the panels out.

The photo below show's 2 Tangara sets coupled.
One with the new doors and one with the original doors.

What is your opinion on the new doors?
I quite like them.

Thank you all for reading another Sydney Trains Blog.
