Two Peas - Year in Cards and ACF Challenge

Over at 2 Peas Kristina Werner is hosting monthly card challenges. This month's challenge is Mother Day cards or Spring Cards. She provided a grid card as one of her samples. Here is my take on her grid card...

These beautiful patterned papers were all shared with me from my friend Jacqueline. http://myscrapbasket.blogspot.com/ Jacqueline also makes beautiful grid cards and is a great inspiration for this.

My squares are all 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" and I used Hero Arts stamps to stamp on top of the PP.

I also played along with the Art Creations Challenge here: http://artcreationsfriday.blogspot.com/ They provided the lovely vintage lady as the challenge piece.

I had the most fun draping diamonds on the lovely lady. The background is watercolors and then I bleach stamped and added the layers of stamping ontop.

Art Creations Friday Challenge # 9

ACF Challenge # 8 is this pretty little girl: http://artcreationsfriday.blogspot.com/2009/01/9th-challenge.html
I framed her out with a page from an old book which I masked and sponged with a pink color. I then mounted it on a tan cardstock with a light tan inked damask stamp.

I added some antique lace and velvet ribbon and paper flowers.

Art Creations Challenge Friday #8

The Art Creations Challenges always provide beautiful backgrounds and stretch my creativity. Challenge # 8 is http://artcreationsfriday.blogspot.com/2009/01/8th-challenge.html to use this painted background:

There is so much wonderful color and depth in this background I wasn't sure if I could add to it.
Here is my end result. Unfortunately with the snow we are having.... I can't get an outside picture and I scanned it which means you can't see the glaze on here which pulls the colors and gives it another layer of texture.

Art Creations Friday Challenge # 6

Art Creations Friday Challenge http://artcreationsfriday.blogspot.com/ # 6 was to use the following background:

I struggled with this and ended up with 3 different cards:

Card # 1 has butterflies and squares made from the original background which I then resist stamped flowers and words and sponged with Ranger Distress Inks (Broken China and Shabby Shutters)

The second card I used the same resist background and stamped over it and embossed with gold embossing powder. I then punched the background into thes flowers and made a simple inchie card.

Card # 3 has a resist background sponged with Ranger Distress Ink Dusty Concord. The bottom of the card is made from vellum and stamped with clear embossing powder and then stamped over with Ranger Distress Ink Dusty Concord. The image came from one of two sources: http://stampingrika.blogspot.com/ Rein provides free vintage images on Mondays on her blog or Cora also shares images on her blog: http://www.clearlyvintage.blogspot.com/ . Updated to link the correct blog I pulled the image from: http://nancydooren.blogspot.com/search/label/Vintage%20plaatjes.. Nancy has free images and they are beautiful. Thanks, Nancy...

Art Creations Friday Challenge #5

This weeks Art Creations Friday Challenge: http://artcreationsfriday.blogspot.com/ was an image provided by Hermine. It was of this couple:

Here is my card:

I want to mention I had to scan this card so I apologize for the lack of color/detail.

I did a lot of layers on this. The background is embossed with 2 different colors of embossing powder and stamped with multiple roses and streaked with versamark. Sponge a tan ink on the background to provide the distressed color.

Attach the image to the distressed background. The sentiments are stamped on an alcohol ink background consisting of caramel, lettuce and currant.

Stamp on the acetate the border and the tag stamp using StazOn Ink.

I wanted to specifically mention my crochet flower that was a wonderful gift from Jacqueline. She sent me some crocheted flowers and butterflies which I have been hoarding. (they are so beautiful I have not wanted to use them)

Products:
  • Ranger Distress Embossing Powder - Mustard
  • Light Pink Embossing Powder
  • StazOn Ink - Timber Brown, Olive Green
  • Versamark Watermark Ink Pad
  • Ranger Alcohol Inks - Lettuce, Butterscotch, Caramel, Currant
  • Ranger Alcohol Blending Solution
  • Brads, Ribbon - Unknown
  • Kaisers - Pearls
  • Crochet Flower - (Sent from Jacqueline)
  • Cornish Heritage Farms - Time Sentiments
  • Hero Arts - Collage Take Time
  • Inque Boutique - French Quarter (Border Stamp)

Thanks for stopping by.. I am excited the holidays are here and I am taking a couple of weeks off from work which means more family time and hopefully inking time.

Art Creations Friday Challenge...

The Art Creations Friday Challenge: http://artcreationsfriday.blogspot.com/ posted this beautiful lady as the challenge photo.

I left her pretty much the same but added a resist image ontop of her and sponged a light pink and brown around the edges.
I did mask her face because my first attempt I didn't and I didn't like the effect. I also tried using a chalking technique where you chalk first and then emboss with clear embossing powder. The effect didn't show enough color on the resist. I bunched the lace along the bottom with glue dots. I added flowers, hat pin and embossed a silver charm with bronze embossing powder to coordinate with the photo corners.

Products:
  • Image - Art Creations Friday
  • Flowers - Prima
  • Lace - JoAnn's
  • Hero Arts DesignBlock - Poinsettias and Birds
  • Versacolor - Opera Pink
  • Memento - Rich Cocoa
  • Pearls - Unknown
