ANOTHER ART JOURNAL TRIP

Good morning and happy Sunday,
The weather here on my little island is lovely - all the trees are opening their buds and the birds are tweetling :-) When I was walking the dog on Friday, the birds were so lovely that I was inspired to do another Art Journal page to celebrate them :-)
I saw a great video a couple of weeks ago, where you lay colour down, draw your design and then overpaint the rest of the page. Well - I tried that and I must admit I was not successful. It looked like shiiiite but I persevered with it and finally ended up with this...................

I couldn't find that video again, so was bumbling in the dark but it's sort of a cool page :-)
I used inks for the background.  I stamped the birds, flowers and hearts on it and then I used a text stamp whilst masking out my birds. I used Gesso to overpaint it - maybe it should have been white paint ?.
The poem extracts were printed on paper and glued on and I highlighted some bits with a white nail art pen.

I used:
My old diary from 2015 sticking 3 pages together :-)
Aspects of Design #3  - Botanical rubber stamp set by The Stamp Man (No longer available)
" Birds of Spring"  extracts  of the poem by Watie W Swanzy
Font: Scrap Circles
I quite enjoyed this and it sorta came out like I wanted :-)

Thank you for popping in xxx

MORE STAMPING + SOMETHING NEW

I am on a roll this afternoon and feeling very creative. I have seen some great techniques and ideas the last couple of days that I am just busting to try....... so many things - so little time!!!! :-)

I saw this afternoon, a great technique of using Masking Tape in different ways over on CLUB SCRAP and I decided to have a play with that and my new clear stamp set " LOVE BIRDS " from Woodware Clear Magic sets.

I tore up the masking tape and stuck it down and then used ink pads in different shades of yellow to smear over the top. Then I used the flower from the stamp set on top of that. The little bird was stamped onto card and coloured with Promarkers and then cut out and mounted on foamies for a bit of pop.

Looking back at the examples now - I think in my rush and excitement to try this, I made a couple of errors - I should have had the masking tape running across as well as up and down, and I should have stamped the flower after I took the tapes off.
I quite like the effect I got though :-)

KITTY KARD

Good morning,
I have popped in with a recent commission card on which I have used one of my new cat stamps. I treated myself to some in the sales just after Christmas, so I am hoping to use them all to show you over the next week or so :-)

This one uses some kitty papers - I bought them from someone selling their stash but I don't actually know who makes them.
I cut an oval and used a text paper from the same set underneath.
I stamped the kitties on to cream card and coloured them with Prismacolour pencils. I used am embossing folder for the sentiment band.
These are JGS386 Mr & Mrs Cat from WoodWare - clear magic singles collection, and I used one of the sentiments that came with the set, stamped onto a filigree heart from the Wooly Bears - Isobel set I bought from Kanban

I used the little bears for the first time on this card that I made for my friend's Birthday..

I stamped the bears onto some textured card for effect and coloured them with Prismacolour pencils. Then I stamped their clothes and bows onto some snippets of card from my stash box and stuck them flat onto the bears. I used another snippet and a decorative punch for the border for them to sit on. :-)

My kitty card is my display piece for my new Show Us Your Pussies - Cats Challenges with starts today over HERE. This month it's all about Kitty Love especially for Valentine's Day.
The new Challenge is also up over at IKEsWORLD CHALLENGES - which is also Valentine's themed. Click HERE to go see that one.
There are new FREEBIES on both those Challenges for you. :-D

Thank you for popping in.
