Suunto at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market 2012

Summer is officially underway and we’re spending every waking moment we can find hiking, running, biking, climbing, fishing, running and enjoying every ray of sunshine Mother Nature has to offer. Despite our attempts to spend all of our time exploring the outdoors, we've also been working hard in prep for our biggest summer trade show, Outdoor Retailer Summer Market 2012.

Outdoor Retailer is a trade show in Salt Lake City sponsored by the Outdoor Industry Association. We prepare all year for summer and winter OR so we can show up among hundreds of other exhibitors throughout the country, put our best foot forward and stand out among the masses.

This year at Suunto’s OR booth we’re celebrating our new booth location and hosting a party on the first night--“The Trail Hour” with special guest Aron Ralston. We’ll be giving away tons of swag and Keller Williams Tickets!

Come check us out at OR for your chance to win! Please post any comments or questions you have below and be sure to share this invite with your friends.

Suunto Supports Active, Healthy Kids Through Kidz Passport Program

We are ready for another amazing week at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market 2011, and we're all looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new faces as we showcase the latest in cutting-edge Suunto products.

In addition to all of the booths, events and special guests, OR hosts dozens of family friendly activities throughout the week, making it easy to bring the kids along with you. We're all for supporting these activities, which is why Suunto is taking part in theGeoPalz Kidz Passport Program.

GeoPalz specializes in colorful, uniquely shaped pedometers designed specifically for kids. In continuation of its ongoing effort to get kids up and active, GeoPalz designed the Kidz Passport Program for kids who will be visiting OR with their families.

Here's how it works: First, families stop by the GeoPalz booth in the New Exhibitor Pavilion (PV#103) and sign their children up for the program. Kids then recieve their own GeoPalz, which allows them to measure the steps they take from booth to booth. They fill out a special "passport" as they go, and when they return the completed passport back to the GeoPalz booth they become eligible for dozens of different prizes -- including some from us at Suunto!

We believe it's important to spark your child's sense of adventure and encourage the exploration of the world around them -- and Outdoor Retailer Summer Market 2011 is a great place to start.

Suunto Shout Out From Utah Outside

Suunto had an amazing weekend at Outdoor Retailer Winter Market! We were excited to unveil some sweet products including our new 75th Anniversary Special Edition Core Watch, a redesigned foot pod and Movestick. We got a great shout review of these products from Utah Outside who visited us at our booth. Read the article by Jared Hargrave of Utah Outside:

Suunto is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, and in honor of the milestone, the company has built a special edition watch. In addition, they’ve redesigned the Foot POD and Movestick so that they are both much smaller and easier to use. All of this was on display at Suunto’s booth at the Outdoor Retailer 2011 Winter Market in downtown Salt Lake City.

The Suunto Core Anniversary Edition honors Suunto’s long history in the outdoor adventure and sports precision watch market. The Core is an all-in-one watch that is packed with features like an altimeter, barometer, and compass, as well as functions such as a depth meter, sunrise and sunset times, storm alarm, and a menu in four different languages. Of course it tells the time pretty good as well. The Anniversary Edition has a 75th anniversary edition engraving on the back.

The Suunto Foot POD has gotten a lot smaller this year, which means you’ll be less likely to even know it’s there when you attach it to your shoe for a run. The Foot POD clips right on the shoelace and automatically goes on and off when you start moving. It wirelessly transmits your running information to your Suunto watch so you can keep an accurate track of mileage etc.

The Suunto Movestick has also lost a lot of weight this year. In fact, it’s tiny. The Movestick allows you to transmit all your training information stored on your watch to your computer. It attaches to your computer’s USB port and allows you to keep tabs on daily training management with Suunto’s sports community website, Movescount.com.

Thanks for this great write up Utah Outside! These new items will be available this spring. For more Utah Outside click here. The foot pod is featured on a Salomon trail running shoe, for more like it click here. For more Suunto products click here.

Apa Sherpa Challenge at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market

To summit Mount Everest is no small feat. Those who do accomplish this deserve respect and adoration from their peers. However, when you summit Mount Everest a record 20 times, you deserve something a little more. That’s why in honor of legendary mountaineer and Suunto Ambassador Aba Serpa’s world record 20th climb of Mount Everest, we are launching the Limited Edition Suunto Core Extreme Edition Everest watch.

“We’re happy to honor Apa with this limited edition Core,” says Suunto Vice President and Business Director Nora Stowell. “Apa Sherpa embodies the spirit of Suunto and we’re happy to commemorate his historic world record with this amazing watch.”

In conjunction to the launch of the Core Extreme Edition Everst at OR there will be two events held at the Suunto booth #20015.

The Apa Sherpa Challenge: Aug. 3,4, and 5 at 4 pm. And Aug 6 at 1 pm.
