Stamp Set: Lexicon of Love

Ink: Old Olive, Close to cocoa, Encore Gold, Creamy Caramel

Paper, Creamy Caramel, Pumpkin Pie, Close to cocoa, white

Accessories: Punches, nestabilities, ribbon, brads

Technique: I used the technique called marbled something...It consists of taping a piece of cardstock to the top of a SU box (plastic) adding two or three small drops of reinkers including a gold or silver to the inside of the box, add three marbles to the ink side, close, shake, flip and wah lah...marbled paper, I then mist it with rubbing alcohol to soften the effect.

Way's to use it-challenge for 1/29/09

The challenge for today was alcohol. Yes we use it to make cards as well as an occasional "Nip"..OK may just some of us for sure.

In both of the following cards I created the background paper with a technique called POLISHED STONE
I tried to make the colors very subtle.

Tuesday 1/27..color challenge

COLOR CHALLENGE

A dear friend of mine just became a TAC demo and I got this Hibiscus stamp from her today.

I used copics to color the flower using a pale green (yg11-Mignonette) and a light blue (B00-Frost Blue) to create Baja Breeze. I added just a bit of pacific point and blended it with a colorless blender.

I outline the entire image with a cool gray (C-1).

I used a jumbo wheel (It's beautiful) for the background flowers

Paper: Pacific Point, Baja Breeze, white

Accessories: Paper piercer, Ribbon

Here is another one that I made using the challenge colors:

Week Summary

This week has been quite busy. It is still getting very cold at night, but the days had been so clear and beautiful. Rick and I went to a movie on Monday. Clint Eastwood is a grand actor and the newest called GRAN TORINO was wonderful. I was fortunate enough to get my new Stampin Up! catalogs on Tuesday...now all I have to do is figure out how to order EVERYTHING !!!

I love what they had done with the new sets !!!!!

The rest of the week has just been the general run of the mill week. My friend and great customer came out Thursday for a catty and I am busy trying to locate more people to get the catty in their hands.

I spoke with my son in Australia and it was 98 degrees in Perth. He was cooking for sure. I will take our 32 with freezing fog anyday.

Have a great week

Sunday Featured Stamper

The Featured Stamper for Sunday January 11, 2009 was JayDeKay. Here is the link to the challenge site as well as to her wonderful work.

I chose to use Inspired By Nature from Stampin' Up! as the set for the challenge. The first one is made by sponging in layers to create the background. First I sponged So Saffron onto white cardstock, punched out a 1 1/4 inch circle from a post-it note and attached it to the paper. I took Bravo Burgundy ink and starting from the outer edges (where I wanted it darker) worked toward the center to create the look I wanted. The images were stamped over the background after removing the post-it note circle. I added a row of brads for accent.
This was created like the top one, except that I used bashful blue for the sky and old olive for the grassy area. The embossing is a cuttlebug border folder and the honeycomb on the bottom is a cuttlebug die cut.

ANNIVERSARY--January 7, 2009

  • Today marks the 25th Anniversary of a day that changed my life forever.
  • It was 6:05 PM January 7, 1984 that our family was hit by a DRUNK DRIVER. We received numerous injuries and even though it has been 25 years we deal with the aftermath every day.
  • My oldest son, Doug was paralyzed from the waist down that night and I broke every bone from my waist down..we both had a long recovery period after the wreck and still have issues and hospitalizations periodically. My son had to have one leg amputated and I have had 3 hip replacements.
  • The gal who hit us (Wendy Katchell) was found guilty of criminal negligent homicide due to the fact that she killed her own daughter that night. There were many other assault charges and she did serve prison time. In the time since the wreck, about 5 years afterwards she died from cancer at a relative young age (35ish)
  • As the Founder of the Clackamas County Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving I beg you
  • Don't do this to another family...
  • BE RESPONSIBLE-----DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE
