Kinabalu park-Day 3

Morning at the hotel.

After a simple breakfast on the chalet patio and a short walk around the hotel before leaving, we headed down/up (the road is windy, so sometimes you go downhill only to go back up again) to Kinabalu Park.
some scenes along the way.
Finally, we're inside the park/reserve area.

We were able to see Mt. Kinabalu up close/clearly and see trekkers ready to make the hike up to the peak of Mt. Kinabalu at Point Timpohon, which is one of the two spots where mount climbers start the summit trail.

And that's the end of our mountain trip. :) Below are some pictures of lunch and beach visit back in Kota Kinabalu.

Mt. Kinabalu trip-Day 2

On the second day of the trip, we woke up early at 5.30am to catch the sunrise. The weather reminded me of a particular morning on a choir spring tour in New England. It was such a pleasant feeling waking up to the cool temperature and being on a mountain.

After walking around the Friday tamu (kind of like farmer's market), we went to the Kundasang War Memorial, which commemorates soldiers who fought in the Second World War.

flowers and butterfly at the garden.

After that, we visited J. S. Nursery and saw pretty flowers, cacti, and plants.
Then, we drove further up the mountains to places like Kampung Mesilou (village), the Desa Cow Farm, and Mesilou Park. The temperature there is much cooler so it felt like spring/fall.
Some scenery along the way. We stopped by a small waterfall for our lunch stop.

Desa farm & dinner (Malay noodles).

I have many more pictures from the day but here are just some taken with my handy point and shoot to make it more manageable. :)

Up into the mountains day 1

I just got home from a mini getaway trip to Mount Kinabalu with my parents and two guests. The mountains were beautiful and the weather was amazing. I am so thankful for the trip. Here are some photos. After picking up our guests from the airport, we went to Tg. Aru for some food before the drive up to the mountains.
milk tea, chow mien, and "ABC" aka shaved ice with goodies on top.

On the way, we stopped by some places: the upside down house, gas station, and random roadsides to take pictures of Mt. Kinabalu that was getting "bigger" the higher up we drove.

Another stop was at the Nabalu market. They sell local rice, chips, baskets, and other crafts.

We finally reached Kundasang.

hotel room view.

After a simple dinner, we went and walked around the resort.
There's a hanging bridge there and a beautiful view of Mt. Kinabalu.
End of day 1.

Malacca day trip (Pt 2)

After a morning of historical tour, we proceeded to the famous Jonker walk. It is basically a street with lots of stores and stalls selling all kinds of snacks, souvenirs and knickknacks. If you like interesting and artsy things, you will love this street.
