a modern vintage tea party birthday

It was a tea party as sophisticated as a tea party for toddlers can be.

She is three. Already. What happened? Where did my baby girl go?

We decided to forgo a birthday cake in lieu of petit fours.

And lots of other goodies.

Of course.

The guests were as sweet as the cake.

Each little girl received an apron made from a hankie with treats in the pocket.

Daddy lit the candle.

Frankie "helped" blow it out.

Yummy gooey cakes!

Happy Birthday to my sweet girl.

she's two

Two years ago today I stood next to Amelie's birthmother as she labored to bring her into the world.

I was emotionally raw. But when you are raw like that you are also open. And the spirit of God was able to seep into every fiber of my being.

Each of my children's births are special in some way. But this event was something else. It was transcendent.

And now she is two.

And I haven't forgotten, not for one day, not for one minute, the incredible gift that she is to us.

I love you baby. Happy Birthday.

two things

Two things:

A) Spark registration opened Friday.
B) I had the best birthday to date. Ugly thirty-seven. Who would have thunk it?
