Being national...

The National will be at KB-Hallen (Copenhagen) on November 11. I’m still trying to figure out why everyone seems to be so high on this band, but I’ve bought a ticket nonetheless. And if Frank is right (he usually is) we should be in for something awesome.

The 2010 FIFA World Cup begins today (surprise, surprise) and as always I dream of the Danes conquering the world. But if I just this one try to be realistic and take off those red and white colored glasses, it should be rather obvious that Denmark’s chances of making an impact are close to zero. But didn’t we think exactly the same in 1992 and 1998?

New album Into The Great Wide Yonder by Trentemøller was released last week (in Denmark) to rave reviews. Here’s one more artist, whose popularity I don’t quite get. This remix of Sycamore Feeling is brilliant, but the rest…???

Efterklang and Turboweekend have decided to swap remixes.

Here’s a track I probably would have posted no matter how bad it was, as Illinois quartet Elsinore share its name with the English name of my hometown. As it turned out the song is a pretty decent pop rock piece, which to be honest is quite a relief!

Various...

Quite unusual this, but I've spent this morning listening to the radio. And DR Barometer is, hands down, by far the best radio station in Denmark. Go check the playlist if you don't believe what I'm telling you! Kent, Michael Møller, Bright Eyes, Morrissey, you name it. They've got it all covered! And while typing this beauty is on...

Speaking of radio. Heard Bad Romance by Lady Gaga on DR P3 while having breakfast this morning and my ridiculously small brain simply refuse to understand how and why a song this awful is getting any airplay!

Been waiting for this and finally there is some news from Matinée Recordings! Tracks from the new releases can be streamed at Myspace. Time to start preordering!

Great music just can't be stopped! mp3hugger features Death Valley Sleepers.

I’ve tried getting into Efterklang a number of times, but so far without any luck. However new track Modern Drift, taken from the forthcoming album Magic Chairs, is pretty good, so perhaps this will be time? But apparently fans of the band think that the song is too mainstream, which probably explains why I like it? Blast! Life is complicated!

New album Bear Life by NY indie pop band The Ballet is out now!

A whole lot of This and That's...

I don't do reviews, so I won't try to write one of the Kent concert Saturday evening. But consensus among reviewers seems to be 4 out of 6 stars and in general I fully agree. Unfortunately some glaring omissions from the setlist makes it impossible to rate it much higher that. My personal highlight of the evening was that I finally got to meet Peter (Coast is Clear), who had driven to Copenhagen with a few friends to see the concert! (thanks to Peter for letting me use the photo!).

Jonas has posted his favorite 10 albums of 2007. No. 3 on his list is Release The Stars by Rufus Wainwright, which I bought a long time ago, but have never listened to. Tonight's the night!

Parades by Efterklang is the best Danish album of 2007 according to Gaffa. This weekend I finally bought the album and after one listen I'm not afraid to admit that I just don't get it. Perhaps a few more spins will make me see the light, but at this state I'm bewildered more than anything.

Something weird is happening; In Rainbows suddenly is beginning to make sense. Not that it will make my top 10 of the year, but I'm no longer one big question mark when listening to it!

Brazilians The Name have recorded a cover version of Eleanor Rigby. Now, what do we think of that one?

Speaking of cover versions. Oliver North Boy Choir covers 80's classic Bette Davis Eyes (stream only).
