Dating demons...

Since this track by Alaska In Winter was uploaded to SoundCloud just yesterday I thought it was a new one. However I’ve just found out that it was included on an EP that was released as far back as in June (I received thousands of emails, but why didn’t any inform me about this release?). Also learned that Brandon Bethancourt has been battling all kinds of personal problems, probably explaining the EP title? Demons sounds pretty good mixing electronic sounds with Balkan vocals (or at least so I hear it)…

Check out this new track by the great (but horribly named) The Sexual Outlaws.

Seems like Danes On No Ono have decided to split up. Whether or not this decision was ignited by the studio run by two band members was robbed last month, I obviously cannot tell, but still sad no matter the reason(s)…

Anyone heard any track(s) from the forthcoming Vince Clarke/Martin Gore (VCMG) release EP1/Spock? I’m expecting the worst and fearing (if possible) even worse. Hopefully I’m going to be proven wrong here!

December is coming and the Xmas tracks have started to arrive in the mail. Guess I’ll make a kind of Xmas compilation again this year including the best of previous years plus a few of this year’s new arrivals.

Chorus Grant (which I mentioned in a brief post on Friday) has posted a new track for streaming at SoundCloud.

Weekend...

It’s weekend and I’m so much looking forward to one of those rare ones with no drinking and no hangovers to survive. What I’m not looking forward to at all, is that the wife and the commander in chief (my oldest daughter in case you were wondering) most likely will insist on watching the finals of the awful TV-show Talent 2008. So I might just end up drinking after all…you just never know!

Judging from the two promo tracks available, the sophomore album Holiday by Alaska In Winter will be quite a different story compared to the debut. Berlin is an uptempo electronic piece, which I’ve grown more and more into liking, and Knorrepromenade (what a title, though a google search reveals that it could be the name of a Berlin street/road?) is quite electronic as well, though it does indicate that all Balkan influences haven’t been abandoned completely.

Danish singer-/songwriter Jacob Faurholt has finished recording his new album Are You In The Mood For Love? which is set to be released sometime early next year. It will include 10 tracks that are described as 9 dark ballads plus a rancid one with a hint of country. Cannot say that I’m familiar at all with the previous work of Mr. Faurholt, but this definitely calls for further scrutiny.

Typewriting...

I’ve always wondered why I find it so difficult to resume blogging, whenever I’ve been away from the blog for more than 48 hours. Wouldn’t it instead be more logic if one were highly motivated and jammed with ideas just waiting to be put on paper? Cannot say which scenario makes the most sense, but yesterday I found myself staring haplessly at the keyboard unable to type anything even remotely worth posting in the blog. Instead I wrote a short post for Bandbase (previously known as Mymusic.dk), but I’m not sure when/if it will be published (update: it's been published). Not exactly Pulitzer Prize material. Finally, just to build the illusion that this is a kind of thematic post, I thought posting a track containing the word typewriter would be appropriate.

And then – in a (long) blink of an eye, this post will turn into another one of those shorties ones!

Ivan of Oliver North Boy Choir writes that the band will travel to Malmø today to record their next single with Bakers at Dawn. I know I'm a blue-eyed optimist, but I do expect it to be nothing short of fantastic. Meanwhile enjoy this cover of the older Oliver North Boy Choir track Something New by none other than said Bakers at Dawn.

Sophomore album Holiday by Alaska In Winter will be out November 18 and first promo track Berlin suggests quite a musical turnaround. Those Balkan influences can still be heard, but the track is heavily inspired by its title (at least so we're told), so it's far more electronic than anything found on the debut. Good or bad?

Sweden's Those Dancing Days shares their live cover of Britney Spears' Toxic. It is far more enjoyable than the original (which was about as terrible as music can possibly get).

Was just browsing the Labrador webpage when I came across this piece of bad news: "The Radio Dept. album is not finished. Well, this isn't really news, but we get a lot of questions. So... we really don't have a release date for The Radio Dept. album. Sorry! We will however set a release date as soon as they've finished the recordings. And don't worry friends, it's well worth the wait!". Hope so!

Speaking of Labrador. The new single Seconds Away by The Legends is now free to download (via).

I've just pre-ordered the forthcoming Crystal Heights album by Celestial. Have you? October will be busy as hell!
