Happy Spoon People.

Sometimes you see an object and you know instantly what you want to do with it...which was the case when I saw these sweet little wooden spoons at Utility in Brighton.
I saw them and instantly imagined a happy face on them...so I did a bit of internet searching and came across a tool called a 'pyrography pen'.
The rest, as they say, is history...
A stubbly one.
A beardy one.
A 1920's moustached one.
A wavy haired one.
One with funny shaped 'blushes' on her face.
One with filled in hair.
I've hand painted the ends of them so they look a more finished.
The state of the work table whilst they are in production.
Each one is double sided, so you get a lady and a man on each spoon.
What do you think?...I'm worried its another case of me wondering off into my head and making something which no one else will ever get or understand? Do you prefer them with the filled in hair? or a mixture of both?
Thanks for your help!

Pictorial Review...

The chat still isn't flowing, so here's some more pictures of the last week or so.
We went to Bristol and I brought this fella, he's made by the lady behind mmm biscuits and I have called him Basil...because I am an almost 26 year old who still has to give everything a name.
This part of the studio wall is dedicated to my new collection...which is titles 'metal things to hang on the wall next to my light switch'
A close up of Basil's face...which i think is quite lovely.
Newly thrifted vintage fabric...i'm thinking i'll make a limited run of plush from it...especially the horse....but not the clown...he's creepy.
my computer desk chair...which used to be in a hairdressers...until they threw it out and I picked it up off the street.
I brought some new sandals and i like them a lot. Today I wore them with socks...which I have heard is a big no no...nevertheless I did it.
An 8.30 shot of the sewing desk...I was busy sewing up a full series of Weirdy Beardy's...which i delivered today.
Here are said Weirdy Beardy's...with their brains hanging out because I hadn't sewn them up when I took the picture.
I have decided to cover the two tone floor boards in the studio with lots of different rugs, so i was quite pleased to score this animal hyde rug (i think it was some sort of long haired creature...perhaps a goat) in the charity shop. Normally fur is a big no no to me (i once handed back a lady her fur coat when i worked in a cloak room because I couldn't bare to touch it) but I'm fairly sure this is a by-product, meaning the animal wasn't killed purely for its fur. My apologies if me purchasing the rug offends anyone.
Our ever increasing collection of pictures above our bed. The far right and far left pictures were given to us by a dear friend and I love them. He recently went to the hadron collider for an interesting project.
StuffedNonsense will be making baby mobile's soon, here's the first mock up..I like it a lot.
Work in progress shot.
That's all for this week, if you haven't done allready...take a look at our facebook page...we pop by there quite alot these days.

New In The Shop...

Sooo we've listed rather a lot of new stuff on the etsy shop, and we thought maybe you guys might like to know about it...
A few new Human Beans including this rather cute little lady.
Some brand new Fuzzy Felt coin purses...my favourite one is this one with the bright red tractor on it.
The grumpy tired Long Johns are back.
Some Round Mice...I love this ones bicycle print belly.
These Sweet Cheeks are regular stock at craft fairs but for some reason this is the first time they've made it into the etsy shop...either way, I think they are rather cute.
They also come in this pinky/blue fabric (which is so incredibly soft)
Some brown tartan Frowny Puss'.
And the normal blue coloured ones...
These guys are super duper shiny new...they are called Weirdy Beardys. We're going to run them in issues so the first 10 designs of Issue 1 are being rolled out now...each one comes with a different 'Weirdy Beardy Likes' on the back...head over to our shop for more pictures and info on them.

There are loads more items over in our shop...this is just a small taster (believe it or not!) To celebrate our full stock shelves you can get 15% off your order with the coupon code fullstockshelves1.
Cheerio for now!

Embroidery Hoop Give Away.

I finally finished the new embroidery designs I showed you all in this post.
I think we're going to sell them individually but keep the colours the same throughout (I've gone for the rather popular at the minute pastels in this set, so that customers can build up a collection in the same theme...if that makes sense.
What do you think of them?
apologies for the shoddy photo, these were taken hastily with the phone camera.
This one has a lovely texture when you run your fingers over the French knots.
I think this one is my favourite but I'm a little bit in love with anything that has a chevron on it at the moment,
And this one finished up the set, kind of Navajo inspired I think.
We going to trim around the fabric and seal off the back with some card.
Do you like them? Would you like them on your walls?
We thought we might offer up this set as a give away...if anyone's interested...(not sure if they will sell to well...i kind of doodled and stitched them up on a whim).
Anyway,to enter the give away all you have to do is leave a comment on this post by next Sunday (18th of March), telling us what other colour combos you think these would work in. We'll draw the winner in the morning on Monday the 19th. Sound fair?
Ready...Set...Go!

The Move Is Complete!

It's finally happened everyone!
After weeks and weeks and weeks of Bex rabbiting on about moving her work room upstairs the move is finally complete.
No pictures yet but we'll sort some out soon!
Needless to say I'm loving having a door and massive windows (the work room before was just attached to the living room and boxed in by shelves), the StuffedNonsense work train is finally getting going again! Which is good because we have a fair few fairs coming up!...a specific post on them due soon too!
For now we will leave you with some pictures of a possible new product for the StuffedNonsense shelves...

What do you think?
There's a few more designs floating around the sketch book too (if you look closely you can see them in the first picture.)
Right...more sewing is required...
See you soon!

An Update...

So as we suspected would happen, the Etsy and Folksy updates on the 29th are looking unlikely...we just have a bit too much to fit in...but don't fear there will be one soon!
I'll leave you with some pictures...nothing special just some bits and pieces from around the house (which is such a cold house i have resorted to taking hand sewing upstairs...because its warmer)
Some new Human Beans for M.A.D.E (the eagle eyed amongst you may notice that some of them have  the new tie addition)
New designs...involving more beards....watch this space
A newly acquired succulent for the bed side table (following the demise of a much loved one)
And a pretty glass bottle with some Wax Flowers in.

Right...I'm off to see if I can get some feeling back into my cold fingers!

Grizzly Geoffs

So we're only a little bit late introducing you guys to these but....lets face it...if we were on time it would be weird.
This, ladies & gentlemen, is a Grizzly Geoff.
They're super dooper new to the StuffedNonsense studio and came about thanks to a rather quiet shift at the day job.
They have a 'loose' back story which we're currently fine tuning but the base of is...
'This is a Grizzly Geoff. He lives behinds your bins and only comes out when it's late; when he thinks the coast is clear he rustles around the bins looking for tasty scraps. He know's that eating from bins isn't the healthiest or most socially acceptable of habits but nonetheless he continues to do so.'
That's right...he's in his pants...Y Front pants to be precise.
He sports a rather handsome beard... similar to that of his name sake 'Geoff from Byker Grove' (I've just spent the last 15 minutes trying to find a suitable link so you can all wonder in the delight of Geoff's beard but can't find a suitable one...so you will just have to take my word for it.)
He has a hand embroidered belly button and some hand embroidered chest hair.
And the beards come in a variety of shades...but for some reason my favourite is the one in the first 3 photos.

So...what do you think? we're quite taken with them, but then we both like beards.
Fingers crossed they will be up on the etsy and folksy shop by the 21st...but there is a Tax Return to try and squeeze in around that time too so we won't make any promises.
Your comments are, as always, appreciated!

Still Here...

...Just about.
Sorry for the lapse in StuffedNonsense news.
Lots and lots have been happening.
Since our last post we have kissed goodbye to our bricks and mortar shop...which is a bit sad but a bit exciting at the same time; it now means we can concentrate on taking StuffedNonsense onto the next level (sorting out the business plan, sorting out the website, sorting out some savings, sorting out some new stockists...and lots of other grown up things like that)
In the midst of the shop removal we have been trying to frantically prepare for a craft fair in London...which is this Sunday ( and yes we are freaking out about the lack of stock...but we wouldn't be StuffedNonsense if weren't chronically unprepared for anything)
We also found out an extra super special shop called The Maisonette would like to stock are creations! Its crazy good news, as they were one of the first shops we approached since the shop closing; so its given us lots of confidence in our products and also in our approach to possible stockists. The shop looks soo wonderful, im gutted that StuffedNonsense is in Cheltenham and many many miles away from Glasgow. The Maisonette has also just opened an internet shop which is rather dandy too...why not head over and have a gander (im 100% certain you wont be dissapointed)
Right...soo heres a sprinkling of pictures....
This cute little desk used to be in the corner of the shop but now its my work in progress desk (full of: four Hup 2,3's waiting for labels, ten Little Aprils waiting for their cardboard tags and twenty one dustbunnies waiting for eyes...i mentioned it has to be done by Sunday didn't i?)
These guys are new and in the same 'range' as the Long Johns...they are called Slim Jims (we're still ironing out the creases in their background story)
Again, in the same range as the Long Johns...this one is called a Frowny Puss'...
And this one is called a Sweet Cheeks....i LOVE the fabric its body is made out of...i want to make PJ's out of it.

What do you thing to the new guys?? Will they fit in under the StuffedNonsense roof?
These ones are still on paper but will be given a lease of life soon...in between this craft fair (on Sunday don'tcha know) and the next one (a two week gap in case your wondering...we must be mad)
Hopefully we will be back soon
(please feel free to send soothing and calming thoughts/comments our way)
