Kitty in the City

So exciting to see a book I illustrated released!! Bennie Bear's Dream is now available to buy on Amazon. The illustrations were done in watercolor and inks and everyone seems to love the book!

Bennie Bear has a simple dream…all he wants is a child to love him. Even though other bears think it may never happen, Bennie never gives up. This lovable bear is full of happiness and positive energy, and readers will instantly bond with him, cheer him on and understand the importance of perseverance and love.

Well as you know I have a cat called Mouse. Who is my muse and even has her own Instagram. Look no fashionable kitty these days is without her own personal instagram. Mouse is an influencer, a mover and a shaker. She is also quite unique. Even though she is quite curious, she has never caught an animal. Yes I have seen her chasing bunnies in the yard. I have seen her chasing squirrels in the yard. I even saw a squirrel chase her up the electrical pole. But she is hopelessly slow in catching anything, maybe her mom never taught her. In any case, all the critters in our yard know they can breathe a huge sigh of relief!

So sooner or later it had to happen. I wrote a children's book about Mouse. It is called Kitty in the City - the cat who just wanted to sing. This is partly because Mouse 'sings' an awful lot. The story is about a theatrical cat who can't stop singing in her garden, and eventually breaks free, wandering the streets of Manhattan before sneaking into a Broadway show and becoming a star!!

Oodles of Poodles

Oodles of Poodles, pastel by Emma Kaufmann

I've been in something of a pastelly, summery type of mood what with our balmy weather so I did this little collection of pastel poodles. They are awfully elegant and look like the type of pooches Audrey Hepburn might have had in Breakfast at Tiffany's and she might have sat in a fancy restaurant and waved her long cigarette lighter at the waiter and demanded they be given a pillow to sit on and a warm bowl of milk.

Then I also got carried away painting a giant intergalactic cupcake whizzing around the sky. It was great fun to paint. Here's a little video of it:

Here's the finished painting using washes of watercolor and acrylic inks on paper. I had fun using my new white fineliner pen to create all the little stars in the background. I was using the Sakura Pentouch Paint markers and found they did a wonderful job even over a dark background. I do get so excited when I use new products for the first time. Don't you?

Also I would be grateful if you could vote for my funny farting unicorn Valentine's day greeting card in a competition  Please vote for it by clicking HERE and I will be eternally grateful.

Flamingo Kiss

Inspired by Valentine's Day I painted these sassy Flamingos doing a dance that might just be the Electric Boogaloo while gearing up to give eachother a smackaroo. Have a smashing Valentine's Day whatever you get up to.

Then I was inspired by the experiences of a London friend...... he has a wild fox in the neighborhood who sometimes sleeps on his sofa... can't help wondering.... what's the fox's story and why isn't he scared of humans? So I drew this illustration.

A Guinea Pig Christmas

We have been busy making okay eating a lot of cookies. We made a lot of these chocolate gingerbread men which were meant to be for a cookie exchange but we ate them before they were exchanged. It is surprisingly hard to do the icing on these....but luckily I had a hardworking house elf to complete the job.

The royals look like they are having a whale of a time in their Christmas sweaters. I really want that corgi one the Queen is wearing. I would love to be a fly on the wall as they tuck in on Christmas day!

I am running about like a lunatic trying to finish up the Christmas shopping because tomorrow we have predicted snow and ice rain and I don't want to be sliding around in that. Have you finished your Christmas shopping yet? I will be glad when it is all over, let me tell you.

I did manage to finish a Guinea Pig Calendar which is perfect for little people this Christmas. It is full of Guinea Pigs and so much fun. Like this excitable little chap:

Guinea Pig at Buckingham Palace

Hello Peeps!!

We've got fine misty rain and gray skies and I've got a bit of a cold so I'm lying around watching Midsomer Murders and drinking lots of hot chocolate. I'm still working on my children's book about a traveling Guinea Pig and also trying to do Inktober. You are meant to do one inky drawing a day all October. I have done a few including this guinea pig guarding Buckingham Palace.

Anyone trying their hand at Inktober?

Here's another WIP, where the little guinea pig ends up Nanuvut, Canada.
