REALLY EXCITING
for last...

this baby has been in the works for a YEAR!

this is the
MUST HAVE $19.99 tool
that I've been teasing about...

drumroll...

here's the

wendy vecchi
MAKE ART STAY-tion...
shipping in March...

I'll be posting videos on Facebook & Instagram so you can see it in action...
we'll also film some videos at Creativation, so be watching for them...

but here's the scoop...

notice the spelling? STAY-tion...

that gives a good hint to the purpose of this tool...

included in the box are the 12 x 12 cornflower blue magnetic solid steel base...

it has grid 1/4 inch lines on the front and the back is solid cornflower blue...

the 4 included magnets are key!

they are brushed aluminum with a foam base...
they are strong, but DON'T stick together...

they WILL NOT BREAK and
they will NOT pinch fingers...

they are exactly what I asked for!

no need to mess them up with washi,
to pull them apart...
that's NOT NEEDED!
they are perfect and cute...
use them just as they are, right from the box!

the 4 magnets are a really important part of the STAY-tion...

the magnetic centering ruler is also included in the box...
it has 1/8th, 1/4 & full inch markings along the top and metric on the bottom, so the STAY-tion can be used world wide...

my original idea that I presented to Ranger, was a STAY-tion to hold stencils in place, so that we wouldn't need tape on the top of our cardstock/paper...

once I got my STAY-tion, I discovered that there are so many more uses...

the magnets hold stencils securely in place over cardstock. this frees your hands, to grab inks, detail blending tools, pastes...whatever you're using...

the magnets are strong & even hold my mat minis in place!

the magnetic ruler gives us a straight line for glueing layers & easily aligning sentiments...
and...the ruler is still a big magnet if you need it...

when arranging die cuts or layers, the magnets can be used to hold the card base perfectly straight & in place, so that not everything is moving all over...

this is MAGIC! it's like an extra pair of hands!

I use the magnets while layers or die cuts are drying...
I pop the magnet on & move on to the next step...

the centering ruler is handy for just that...centering whatever needs to be centered...

I use the Ranger 9 inch craft sheet on the STAY-tion as a portable heat embossing spot...
this is super convenient...
the magnets hold the craft sheet in place...

extra work space! extra work space! extra drying/cooling space!

if you're a scrapbooker, I see this as a valuable tool for you too, since it's a 12 inch magnetic base...let the magnets hold your title in place while determining arrangement of your photos, embellishments, die cuts etc...

use the STAY-tion just ONCE & you'll use it every time you...

MAKE ART!

it's a super handy tool. I had mine for 6 weeks & had to send it back to Ranger for photos & I was seriously lost without it...

I hope you saved that $20.00 bill...

it's worth way more than $19.99. you'll see!
I'm sure that you'll LOVE it, just as I do!

I made TONS of samples but here's a quick peek at just a few...be watching for the washi & sneak peeks of some mat minis from Stampers Anonymous in the samples below too...

follow me on Facebook & Instagram for tons more...

paying it foreword...

when I started on this art adventure in 2007...

I was extremely LUCKY to be helped by some WONDERFUL PEOPLE...

let's start with the first person I met...
Michelle Cutts (aka Mrs Stampers Anonymous)...
I adore her!

who introduced me to her hubby Ted...
(aka Mr. Stampers Anonymous)...
he is a very hard working, honest...GREAT guy!

which led me to meeting Tim...
Rock star to the world...
but a dear friend & mentor to me...
I think the world of him...

which lead me to the fine guys who own Ranger...
Alain & Justin...
yep...you guessed...
REALLY good guys too!

and along the way, there was also Caroline & David, from Maya Road...
who have become my friends...
ok...gotta say it...
they are great people too...

because these people believed in me & gave tons of support...

studio 490 came to be...

LUCKY me...

now it's my turn to...

PAY IT FOREWORD...

back in May, I demoed @ a convention for Ted, in Novi Michigan...

that weekend I met Jillian Vance & her mom Bunny...
as we chatted the first day...I learned that Jillian had her own stamp line...

that's pretty cool...

but here's the AMAZING part...

Jillian is 12 NOW...and she was only 11 then!
and she was 10 when the company was started!
seriously...
I know I was still playing with Barbie...

I demoed all weekend & we talked about every product that Ranger makes...
and we've corresponded since then...

they are now RANGER users & lovers!
I *think* CONVERTS is the correct term?

recently they gave me a stamp set & asked if I could fit in a little project, using their stamps...

I chose to receive the stamp you see below...

it's actually Bunny's logo for her hair salon...

I spotted it on her email signature & told her it would make an awesome stamp...

so...I'm paying it forward...

please take a minute to look @ Jillian's blog...
remember...she's 12!
she even does fun videos!

and YES...she designs the stamps herself...

the lovely face you see below is her stamp...

I used the textured gesso background technique, that is one of the techniques incorporated into my Ranger workshop...

if you'd like to recreate something like this...

I randomly painted a manila tag with Claudine's gesso...
and dried it...

I stamped the face with jet black archival...dried it, then masked it off & stamped my script background over it & dried it again...
I used coffee archival for the background...

remember to...

***dry EVERYTHING when stamping over gesso***

the face was inked with brushed corduroy, using the blending tool...

and the background is broken china distress ink...

I die cut her with tim's mover's & shapers mini baroque...
and edged it with my fav gold paint dabber...

I used jet black to stamp my gingham background on some kraft card stock...which makes the border...

it's mounted on gold paint dabber edged black card stock, which is then mounted to more kraft...

I used Cut N Dry nibs to ink the tiny flowers & leaves in her hair...

I can't remember the last time I made a card & this was fun!

so if you can spare a minute...

pop over to Jillian's blog...

best wishes to you Jillian...

CHEERS!!!
here's to SUCCESS for YOU!

ok...back to those kits for the QUEEN trip...

as always...
don't forget to...

make art!
wendy
ps...THANKS SO MUCH...I'm thrilled you like the hoodies too!

and I made this...

long time no blog...
sorry...
we've been busy...

I've making LOTS of custom epoxy memo pins & charm clips for upcoming classes...

if you have my book #3, where I have detailed info on how to make them...
here's an update...

I found that by adding a strip of Wonder Tape under the gluestick line, it holds the pins & clips in place & makes it much easier...
no more wiggling...

and the Wonder Tape, Glossy Accents & glue stick
wash right off the craft sheet...
like MAGIC!

and we shipped 664 + inks to
for my most favorite class that I teach...

Ranger Inks...studio 490 style...

yep...
108 archival inks
156 tim's new distress stains...(still NEED the other 24 colors)
180 distress inks...
and 80 adirondack pigments...
oh...and tim's color washes too...
I forgot how many of those guys we sent...

thank goodness we have the Ranger craft scrubbies
for the end of the day hand cleanup...

after 6 hours of inking & "making art"...
I have a *feeling* we'll be needing them...

then add in kits & other supplies...

for a total of 250 pounds of art supplies...
should be a very fun weekend...

and...
we've been busy making kits with my art parts...
LOTS of art parts...

and...

I did a *top secret* project especially for____???
stay tuned...
that's coming on April 19th...

which reminds me...
I still need to do the write up & send them photos...
added to the to*do list...
yikes...can't forget...

now for the blog title...

when I went to Carson, Ca for the convention a few weeks ago,
I wanted a new spring-ish piece for my demo table...

so I made the art parts spool that you see @ the top of the post...
I used a combo of grungeboard, grungepaper, art parts, clearly for art...

and lots of my stamps...

below are paper flowers...
here's how they were made...

to add a vintage dictionary page to a sheet of Clearly for Art...
I used a brayer to make sure it was well adhered...
lightly dried it with the heat tool...
then stamped my flowers with jet black archival...
cut them out...
then...

here's a cool discovery & another reason
why I LOVE tim's new distress stains...

when I used the stains to ink the flowers...
because the inks are more fluid,
the color saturated the dictionary page & now the backs of the flowers are perfectly colored too...

if I would have applied the distress ink with the blending tool...
the color would not have gone all the way thru the paper...
I would have needed to add alcohol ink to the back of the flowers to color...

but because I used the stain...
it was a simple ONE step QUICK/EASY coloring process...

by using the Clearly for Art under the paper, you end up with a thin flower that looks like vintage paper...

but it's very strong & durable!

both flowers & all the leaves were done with the stains...

here's a look @ the base...
I used the 3 1/2 inch square art parts frame base under the spool for a little different look...

it's stamped with one of my stamps...

evidence of art was a good fit...

when I use the queen face stamps on grungeboard...
I always stamp an extra crown on a grungeboard & glue it over the original to add more texture/dimension...

the funky flower is an older stamp too...
and I still like it lots, especially stamped on grungeboard...

the centers are the cut outs from the spool & they are stamped with the medicine label stamp...

the photo below shows how the peel paint distress stain
went thru the paper & colored the back of the leaves...

the larger flower is weathered wood distress stain with walnut distress ink, applied with the blending tool to add shading...

the smaller is just plain weathered wood stain...

if you look @ the base again...
you can barely see a little something sticking out on the right side...

I forgot a photo, but I used tim's new alpha parts to put my name on the back of the spool...

that little black thingy is the end of the Y...

we'll be making a similar art parts project this weekend...

now about that *top secret* project...
here's a little HINT...

2 peas in a bucket is expanding their stamping section & they are having a special event...

it's called...

30 days of stamping...

you can see it here...
and see tim's post too...

and I'll see you there on the 19th!

hmmm...
guess that was a pretty big hint...
the beans were spilled...
but not the project...

it's brand new...
unseen by human eyes...
ok...Rick did see it...

and it uses LOTS of stamps...

now I'm headed to the studio to...

make art!

how about some Ranger fun?

ok...due to some questions/emails...
I have to finish the story about yesterday's post...
this concerns Lady Dy...

while the Ranger booth was being set up @ CHA,
Lady Dy was working on her art journal...

she mentioned something about looking for her "kitchen roll".

DUH...
I thought she was hungry & told her the Ranger guys always bring us snacks...

but, little did I know that Lady Dy was referring to...
a roll of paper towels!

so that became our standing joke for the entire CHA...
we laughed about kitchen rolls...

because of the blizzard in Chicago,
I was delayed for a day coming home from CHA
& had plenty of time to think...

I got to wondering what she called toilet paper...

so I emailed & asked...

her response...
"why toilet paper of course.
what did you think we'd call it?"

my response...

a butt roll...

kitchen roll...
butt roll...

made perfect sense to me...

so if you've seen the bantering back & forth
on Facebook & Twitter about the "shimmy butt roll"...
that's the story & I'm stickin to it...

I have some quite lovely normal British friends...

and there's Lady Dy!

I LOVE her dearly!
she makes me laugh...

moving on...

here's my designer challenge for Ranger...

it's featured on Ranger's blog today...
if you've not visited there this week, scroll down & see all 20 creations...

we were each given a 12 x 12 wood frame with a black foamcore insert, Perfect Pearls and more Ranger goodness...

our mission was to create art within the frame
& to feature Perfect Pearls...
I started by adhering a giant vintage dictionary page to grungepaper...
I applied the adhesive randomly, so that when I misted it with water & heirloom gold Perfect Pearls mist the dictionary paper would buckle & look really dimensional...

I tore several spots & curled them...
for more texture & a vintage effect...

I misted the wood frame with espresso color wash & spread it with a piece of Cut N Dry foam...

the color washes are great on unfinished wood...
very quick & simple...

& then I randomly stamped my fav medicine bottle stamp, using jet black archival...
I finished the frame by misting it with heirloom gold Perfect Pearls mist...

when I misted the entire piece with heirloom gold Perfect Pearls mist...
I held the frame upright to create drips of shimmer on the paper...
sad to say the photos don't show the pearls...

you'll see lots of art parts...
like the star border, guys & the large truck...
those were stamped with jet black archival...

the book is a vintage book from an antique mall...
the vintage glasses were found there too...

I glued the book shut & wired it to the foamcore, so it would be nice & sturdy...

tim's trimmings ribbon was misted with espresso color wash & heirloom gold Perfect Pearls mist & then stamped with text, using jet black archival...

I LOVE the combo of espresso color wash & heirloom gold PP...

oh...that vintage pen nib was an antique mall find too...

here's my piece...

here's a closer shot of the book & glasses...

and here's a really close look @ the flower...
it's die cut from my new Clearly for ART BLACKOUT...
using tim's tattered florals die...

then it's stamped with my polka dot background & the plaid background too...
using the gold paint dabber for both...

tim's giant accoutrement bling button made the perfect center...
I LOVE it especially with BLACKOUT...

Now about that giveaway...

I promised to suck up to the Ranger guys...

art & shopping...

the perfect combo!

BEWARE...
I am posting links to help you SHOP!
it's my duty...
hey...what are friends for?

Ok...
it killed me go give this to Ted & Michelle for a booth sample,
especially since I realized that I didn't take photos when it was completed...
duh...
in a hurry I guess...

I am IN LOVE with the new art parts creative covers, because they are so versatile...
they can be covered with paper, painted, inked, color washed, distress stained, tissue taped or inked and stamped...

and speaking of stamps...

tim's sized these for a PERFECT FIT for both the large & small creative covers...

below is the small creative cover, adorned with some fun art parts...

I'm thrilled with how some art parts have coordinating stamps...
like these ink bottles...

the outsides are covered with tim's yummy new kraft resist,
then misted with color washes...

the mini butterfly was stamped with the gold dabber onto "clearly for art BLACKOUT"...

the flower is an art part...

as is the scallop...

"evidence of art" seemed a good title for this project...

the paint brush was stamped on grungeboard & cut out...

and don't miss tim's new cute nib...

here's what it looks like when opened...

you can see Claudine's sticky back canvas holds it all together...

grrr...the back cover wasn't complete here...

the dress form was fun...

on the spine I used tim's new alpha parts...
it says...I STAMP!

the letters are mounted on the insert from the new art parts mini frame...

and here's the inside, so you can see how easy it is to assemble...

tim's ring binder is held onto the art parts spine with fasteners...

again, I used the kraft resist for inside the covers & misted them with butterscotch, denim, sailboat blue & meadow color washes...

this shows how the kraft resist really does...
RESIST...

one more thing about the creative covers...

they aren't only for books...
since they don't have holes, they make a great solid surface for the base of projects too...
I like the large size...

tim made a cool project for CHA with the large cover & his ring binder...
I hope he'll post a photo to show you...

I made sure to size the new art parts to fit with our current pieces...

YIKES...
I REALLY am addicted to the kraft resist...
used it here too...
but this time I inked it with the new distress stains...

the red is fired brick...
the blue is weathered wood...
forest moss was used to ink the frame, after I clear embossed it, with my polka dot background stamp...

the wings were die cut from grungeboard...
& inked with weathered wood distress stain...

the flower is stamped on Blackout...

I used tim's new drill punch to put a hole in the new nib, so I could hang it from a hitch fastener...
it works like a dream...

with love...

and @ the top of my new art parts favorite list...

there are 3 sizes in the set with lots of mix & match possibilities...

the base for this piece is from the large art parts square frame...
these pieces were all inked with the new distress stains...

this time I used wild honey, walnut stain, weathered wood and forest moss...
the flower is an art part & it has a coordinating stamp...
makes it easy to stamp an extra flower on grungepaper to add some dimension...

it you look @ the bottom of the smaller house...
"proprietor" is from my most favorite medicine bottle stamp...
it's stamped on a straight flower stem, cut down to fit the house...

LOTS of new stamps on this guy...

the roof is this background...
the green house is this one...
art is here...
and the flower...(it was changed from the one on the top right to this style..
I liked it better!)

the little arrow is cut from this arrow border...

here's my shopping strategy...

I'm doing separate orders...
stamps & items shipping in February on one order, so I don't have to wait...

March items with March...

that way there will be something NOW & something coming soon...
I like that...

my stamps are done & shipping to those who ordered first...
art parts are scheduled to ship @ the end of Feb...
beginning of March...

again...
store owners who ordered first, get their orders shipped first...

phew...
after looking @ all these new things...

I think I'll run to the studio to...
make art!
wendy
ps...I hope the hubbies don't hate me...

Monday, January 24, 2011

hey...I have ANOTHER cool surprise!

this CHA has me jumping out of my skin excited...

I'm exited about my new ART PARTS release...
sounds like you are too...
HUGE THANKS!

I'm excited about my new stamps...
I'm glad you like them too...

and I'm super excited to show you a photo
I stole from tim's blog...

that are a PERFECT size for...

the new...
ART PARTS creative covers!

how FLIPPIN...OVER THE MOON...exciting!!!

check out his video...
for LOTS of exciting news...

phew...
gotta get my blood pressure under control after that!

Ok...
I leave you with a few quick photos...

LOTS of the individual ART PARTS pieces are interchangeable for lots of mix & match options...

on the photo below, I used a roof from the ART PARTS residences...

with a mini frame...which is 2 inches x 4 inches...

with an ART PARTS floral...

and added a 2 inch new mini scallop trim...

and some CLEARLY FOR ART...Blackout...
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this Blackout...
and lots of new stamps...

to make this mini house...

I've showed peeks of this next project...

Hello...RANGER...
I'll be needing a new LANYARD...
I had to chop a piece off mine to accent the base...

this guy will sit on my demo table...
gotta let people know that I LOVE RANGER inks!

OK...
I see stamp pre-orders listed here...
and I'm expecting ART PARTS packages to be listed there soon...
TODAY?
fingers crossed...
I'll update with a link,
if I hear about the update...

while you're contemplating your purchases...
add tim's new Distress Stains to the list...

these are totally awesome...

I've been using them to QUICKLY cover large areas...
they lay down the PERFECT base color...
QUICKLY...with no rubbing!

after the piece had a base coat of color,
then I went back and added my Distress inks
with the blending tool...
to add shading and color blending...

these stains are PERFECT for ART PARTS...
you'll especially LOVE them for large pieces like the creative covers...

I bet it took less than 30 seconds to ink the large cover...
SERIOUSLY...

so flipping easy & FAST!

weathered wood over ART PARTS creates THE MOST BEAUTIFUL bluish/grey color...
OMG...I about fainted...

my only complaint with the stains is that
we have 12 of the distress colors...

not all 36!

I WANT...REALLY NEED all 36!

you can bet the house that
I'll be sucking up to tim, Alain & Justin about that...
big time sucking up...

I'm 100% serious...
use one...
you'll need them ALL...
like I do...

time to pack my new stamps & demo stuff...

I'll be needing my demo stuff to...

make (CHA) art!!

a set a day #11...

thanks so much for sharing your excitement about all my new stamps and art parts...
ART FRIENDS are the best!

the stamps & art parts were a blast to design &
let me tell you...

they are even more fun to USE!

I am TOTALLY over the top thrilled...
and counting the SECONDS 'til I see them on display @ CHA...

today I have a "special announcement" that has been another thrill for me...

RANGER will now be stocking ALL my products...

so STAMPS, ART PARTS & the "Clearly" products will all be available directly from Ranger...

for store owners,
that means one stop CHA shopping...
anything I demo with or used in my Ranger booth samples
will be available right from Ranger!

HUGE THANKS to Alain, Justin & Tim for having faith in me...
I appreciate your support!

and I'll say it for everyone to hear...
I LOVE RANGER...
it's as simple as that!

one more thing before chatting about today's stamp set...

I think there was some confusion about the "creative covers" post from yesterday.

included in each kit are 4 art parts covers & 4 art parts spines...

these are not tim's ring binders...
they are the ART PARTS spines with holes to perfectly fit tim's ring binder...

you will want to get the ring binders from your LSS or from your favorite on-line shopping site...

ok...back to stamp business...

set #11 is a large set called...

A FORM OF ART...

"Be yourself" is a nice large stamp (4 1/2 inches) that fits in the large book plate that I showed yesterday...
I have a very fun...
out of the box project completed...
and it was perfect...

I like the mixed funky font & it's a reminder that you do NOT have to be like everyone else...
just be you...

the dress form stamp is a perfect fit for...
an ART PART!...
it's about 3 1/4 inches tall...

this is fun to "dress up" with all sorts of fun embellishments...
after it's stamped...

and speaking of dress forms...

here's another ART PARTS...
dress form...

I inked this one with butterscotch pigment ink &
I used the medicine bottle label to stamp over it...
it's 4 inches tall...

"specimen"...I'm hooked on these...
flat out...
HOOKED...

the distressed font makes me think that it was used
"out in the field" to collect evidence...

"every accomplishment" is good for cards for all sorts of occasions...
and again...
for art journals/mixed media art too...

this ledger page is from a vintage notebook that we rescued from an antique mall...

I loved the writing & the numbers...
it had to come here to live...

it's good sized @ about 4 inches tall...
and makes a good background...

the last stamp has a little story associated with it...
in my other life,
I was a surgery nurse manager...

one of my favorite surgeons was an orthopedic surgeon &
from the moment we met, we connected...
he was originally from Korea & has a wonderful funny personality...
his name is Bok Choi...

one day he told Rick that he liked me because I was a little sweet, a little SPICY (because 'd yell @ him when needed) and I had an attitude...
attitude? imagine that! YIKES!

it became a standing joke between us...

I'd yell...he'd say "she's spicy today"...

so that's how the bottom stamp came to be...
I think it fits well with the things we make...

I plan on using it with "the queen" stamp...
and with the new silhouette stamp I showed a few days ago...
I liked her attitude...

this next photo shows another
FAVORITE new ART PART...
it's a pocket watch...

it's sized to fit a configurations compartment...
or it's the perfect embellishment for a collage...

it's simple to use...
a 2 inch circle punch is the exact size of the opening...
so, no need to try & cut a perfect circle...

there's that medicine label again...
I use it on almost very project these days...
addicted...

the photo shows the pocket watch in tim's printer tray...
along with that adorable coat hanger paper clip...

now this next photo is LOADED with brand new
ART PARTS & idea-ology...

we have a total of
40 new ART PARTS being released...

they have been divided into 12 packages
plus the 2 creative covers packs...
so, we have a total of 14 art parts sets...

today I want to show you these art parts...

scallop trim...
there are 3 sizes designed to fit the configurations compartments...
I've used them on everything...
you'll be noticing that, I'm sure...

a heart, the same size as this heart stamp...

and RESIDENCES...
be still my heart...

3 sizes of houses...
they are 6, 4 and 3 inches tall...

I LOVE these so much...
I used all I initially got & HAD to order more...
they are so fun...

they come with 2 styles of roofs & a mini door...
for lots of mix & match options...
I didn't used those pieces on this sample...

how cute is the fractured doll?
and the plaquette and that hanger again?

and the last of the photos for today...

more...ART PARTS!

the scroll/leaf is 4 1/2 inches long...
so any of my background stamps will cover it with one stamping...
lots of backgrounds = tons of options...

this one has been meadow color washed &
stamped with this background...
*FYI*
color washes are PERFECT misted over art parts...
just mist & dry...

the mini hand made me flip...
it's sooooo stinkin tiny cute & just 2 1/8th inches tall...

another perfect fit for those configurations...

and the art parts flower is mini too...

there are 8 new art parts flowers in that set
& a mini stem too...

I'm hoping to have the art parts package photos before I head off to CHA...

if I do...
I WILL certainly share them here...

PHEW...lots of beans spilled today...
and I still have 3 more stamp sets and
a few more surprises...
coming soon...
