Where has the last few days gone? I got up yesterday at 3 AM and went shopping with my sister. We have been doing this since 2003. She always picks me up and we head to Kohl's. Kohl's was the worst of all the stores we went to - especially the toy department. I actually had a toy snatched out of my hand! We then had McDonalds (another ritual) and headed to best buy. We ended up not getting anything at best buy (my sister thought she needed something, but then got a call saying forget it). We picked up my mom and headed to Target. We got there as it was opening. People were shoving and racing to get their "deals". We just calmly walked in and got a few things. I got Hannah the new animal crossing game for the wii. It wasn't on sale, but it has been hard to find. We also hit up bed, bath and beyond, JCPennys, Anne Taylor Loft, Christopher and Banks, Bath and Bodyworks, and Walmart. There really was not a lot of people out compared to last year. It was a nightmare last year.
I got my nephews done though and that is great. We drew names and I got my middle sister. I am finished with her. I got a few things for Hannah, but still need to get her a few other items - not sure what though. I bought Hannah a few more shirts and a sweater yesterday from JCPennies. She is soo hard to buy for. She now has 7 shirts and 3 pairs of jeans. Thank goodness she wears a uniform to school otherwise it would not be good...
Today I need to work on school things and get my hair done. I also need to do some cleaning and give the dogs a bath. Tomorrow I am going to a cookie baking party so I need to figure out what I need for that. We do it every year, and it is a blast.

Sunday morning update...
There is only two days of school this week, unfortunately progress reports go home on Tuesday so that makes for a lot of fun today and tomorrow grading wise. I'm a little behind but not as bad as it has been. I am going to take a shower and go to school for a little bit and work. I work better where there are fewer distractions. I am taking Hannah and a friend to see Twilight this afternoon. My sister is going to meet us at the movie theater. She is reading the books too. After dinner, I will go back to school and work until 9.
I made Pumpkin Cheese Coffeecake for breakfast this morning. It was delicious!
Yesterday I went to get my hair cut and colored, only my appointment is for next weekend! Opps. I guess the stress of the last couple of weeks is really getting to me. Pam did cut Hannah's hair before we left though.
I am hoping to stitch a lot over Thanksgiving break!

Twilight
I have read three of the 4 books in the Twilight series. I usually don't like books in first person, weird I know. So when DD said she wanted to read them, I thought I will never be able to make it through them. She thought the same thing. Surprisingly, I read the first one in 6 hours. Now I just have the last one left to read. I told DD she could not read it until I had. I had heard it had questionable content. She spied the book on my nightstand, and snagged it. She was 3/4 of the way through it before I realized she had it. She started it on a Sunday, I caught her the next day. Yeah, that's right, she probably wasn't focusing on her studies. I took the book away. A friend had book 4, so on Tuesday she finished it during school. Yeah so once again she probably wasn't focused during school.
Next weekend, the movie comes out. She wants to go so bad. She has been counting down the days. She wants me to take her Friday night. I told her we would go Sunday. At the calander kiosk in the mall, they have a Twilight movie calander. Hannah was freaking over it. She keeps watching the trailers on-line. Maybe they will come out with a game for the wii LOL!

Aghh Weekend.
This was one of those frustrating weekends:
- I bought a sweater at JCPenny - a black one to wear with this really cute skirt I can now wear again. The clerk forgot to take the dye tag off. I had to go back to the mall to have it taken off this morning.
- I brought Taco Bell home for lunch today - our new Sunday ritual. They screwed up our order. I had to go back and get the correct one.
- Hairball Harry puked on the carpet again. Another fun mess to clean up.
- I went to Walmart for a "few" things, and spent $104 - opps.
This weekend has also been triumphant:
- We are looking at high schools for DD. She is only a 7th grader, but now is the time to start looking. We went to a tea for Duchesne (all girls school) and an open house for Skutt (co-ed). The tuition is not that much different for either one. DD really wants Skutt. Next weekend is open house for Duchesne. We will be there.
- All my lesson plans, newsletter, and website updates are done. I still have some papers to grade, but usually Sundays are totally awful because I have soo much to do, but this one is not so bad.
- I am baking chocolate chip peanut butter bread. It smells marvelous. I don't want to share, I want it all for myself.
- My leg feels so much better. I have this horrible bruising going on, but I can walk on it again without wanting to die from pain.

7 AM Update
This morning I had ANOTHER early morning meeting (I am a little tired of them). I told Hannah I was leaving at 7 AM with our without her. At 6:39, I told her she had 21 minutes before I was getting in the car and leaving, with or without her. She must have taken yesterday to heart, because she was moving much quicker this morning. At 6:57, she had herself propped against the door to the garage putting on her shoes. She was deteremined that I was not leaving her stranded. She was blocking the door so I couldn't get out until she was ready. I told her I could just go out the front door and open the garage that way if she was going to make me late. At exactly 7 AM, we were pulling out of the driveway. I guess the lesson has been learned. Thank goodness. I was kind of worried she would be a stubborn learner like my sister S.

7 AM
This morning, I had another early morning meeting at school. I told DD I was leaving at 7 AM and that if she wasn't ready then she was going to be hitching a ride. 7 AM came and she was still putzing around the house. I calmly walked into the garage and put my things in. I opened the garage door and backed out. Then I shut the garage door. She came flying out, shoes untied, hair flying, panicked, crazed look on her face. Priceless. I stopped the car, she flew in and said, "What the heck, mom, I was just getting my shoes on!" I calmly told her that when I need to leave at 7, she better be ready to go. Then we drove to school. I wonder how tomorrow will go when I once again have an early morning meeting.
Aghh...
My sister really upset me tonight. I found out from my other sister, KM, that my sister, S, is pregnant again. I'm not upset that she is pregnant. I am so over all of that - fertility issues, etc. What I am mad about is the fact that S never tells me anything. I have to hear it from KM, who then flipped because she was not supposed to say anything and is now freaking because she let it slip at bunco.
Yes, four years ago it would have been hard to hear that she was having baby #2, but now I can't imagine having one. My daugther is 12 1/2. I am in such a different place than I was then. I have pretty much accepted that I will not have anymore children. It just makes me upset that she tells me nothing.
She didn't wish me happy birthday until about a week ago on my facebook. My birthday was Oct. 2. She is always doing things like this. I guess I should just let it drop, but I can't. I'm pouting...

Goal...
My goal for this week is to have all of my papers graded by Friday evening so I don't have to spend the entire weekend grading, entering grades, and working on school stuff. I only want to have to spend an hour (two at the most) at school on Sunday.

WHY?!
Why does it take my 12 year old over an hour to get ready to go to church and she still looks like she didn't comb her hair? I could just scream...

What Your Cute Monster Says About You |

You inner demon is frailty. You are easily beaten down by life. People think you're cute because you are optimistic. Your outlook on life is charming. |
No turkey trot for me:(
Next Saturday is the turkey trot - a 5K road race. I tore my left calf muscle and can't run it. It is perhaps one of the most painful experiences. I guess when I felt that first twinge in the calf, I should have listened to my body. It said stop, this hurts. But no, I just had to keep up the craziness and obsession and run to my hearts content. It didn't feel to bad when I was running. I just couldn't walk when I stopped.
Thanks to my friend Stacy and her google expertise, I was able to tell my doctor what I thought it was. He agreed and told me to kiss my treadmill goodbye for the next two weeks. I don't want to give him up! How will I survive without the daily excitement and joy of the run?!
The calf is just wrapped in an ordinary ace bandage. No crutches or other fancy things to get by with. I need to keep walking on it so it doesn't stiffen up and to watch for possible bloodclots. They run in my family. Bummer...
I am going out with my friends to a cajun restaurant to commiserate my sadness with spicy food and loud music. DH gets to take Hannah out to dinner and perhaps a movie. He's playing poker tomorrow night while I have a date with 10,000 papers and my gradebook.

Well, I have been such a bum about downloading my pictures from my camera. Tonight I came home from school and began the process. I had over 300 pictures to download and sort. I am in the process of putting slideshows up on my class website and such.
