We had a few times to go skiing this year. Tyson, of course, ran off to enjoy his season pass when he could, but we were also able to have our annual meet-up with the Nielsen's at Keystone. Skiing was great, and afterwards we tried to enjoy the worst over-priced fondue dinner we've ever choked down. It made for some unforgettable memories for sure!
Always a great time with my dear friend Julie!
And this is how we leave in style. :)
I was able to go on a little ski trip with some girls here in Grand Junction who are amazingly great on the slopes. They pushed me and Krishawn to our maximum dare-devil speed and we still couldn't keep up with them. But we had some great laughs and falls and bumps on the moguls. Again, great memories!!!
Krishawn and me having a good ol' time!
And of course it was a joy to take the kids to the slopes a few times. Mackenzie decided she was too old for the harness/leash, so we set her off on her own and she did amazingly well. Well not really on her own, I did follow her all the way down each time, but she always beat me to the bottom. They think its a race with Mom I guess!
Collin was a whole different beast out on the slopes. Mid-day one time, Collin convinced Tyson he didn't need any harness or help, and was cut free. Of course Mom would have never dared let him do that!!! It was enough to give me a down-right heart attack. He doesn't know how to stop, nor does he go side to side. He just takes a B-line straight down the hill as fast as possible. Oh my! Tyson has had to ski down as fast as possible and grab his coat by the hood to stop him from killing himself!!! Just when we thought we had him under control and skiing more responsibly later in the day, I decided to video him going down the run as I followed behind him. He did well, and then...boom!!! I will let you take a look for yourself... (dang it, I can't figure out how to make the video any bigger!)
And its too bad that after the crash, I didn't have one picture. But we had 4 ski patrol people show up, one who witnessed the crash. People who had to come take pictures, mark the tree that he hit, put up trail markers, etc. He ended up hitting his knee only, rather than his head, so we were lucky, but it sent him flying and his skis. We asked him why he headed for the trees, and he said he just wanted to be cool and weave through the trees. Can't help but think that's cute! :) He was taken down to the medical building strapped into the rescue sled, being pulled by the patrol. He was just fine once he got his lollipop from the nurse. But we called it a day after that! It was quite eventful! Again, another awesome ski memory!
