It's been a while since the last post. I haven't taken any pictures for such a long while, no new trips, and no outside fun in this cold weather. I feel like we've been hibernating indoors for the past 3 and a 1/2 months. So, a little update about what's been going on lately around the Black household...
I'm almost done with the hard part of the chemo treatments. I have to have a total of six. Four down, and two more to go. I have been doing quite well with them. I feel many side effects, but I have learned how to manage them with all my wonder drugs :) and know what to expect after each round of treatment now. We are able to carry on a pretty normal life around here and don't think about the cancer a whole lot or even realize we are in the midst of dealing with it anymore. Tyson forgets all about it, even when he's staring at my bald head. He doesn't even realize I'm sick half the time or that I'm having a down day since I'm still carrying on as usual. That's good...although sometimes sympathy would be nice! :)
I was supposed to have my 5th treatment today. I went in and had my appt with my doc and my bloodwork done (they always do bloodwork just prior to infusion) and all my blood counts were extremely low, well below their minimum level to give me my treatment. I was so bummed, still am! I feel perfectly fine and normal, but the lab said otherwise. So I am crossing my fingers that my counts go back up high enough to have my treatment next Tuesday. As a chemo patient, there is nothing like looking forward to each treatment. You never want to get off track or get sick. You are on a countdown like no other. It means you are that much closer to being done with this process that has kind of stolen a time of your life away and made your body go through so much in hopes to actually get it better (although that's not how it feels at all). So today I was sent home early to enjoy a day of packing instead...
Yes, packing! This is the exciting part of my life right now. Tyson might tell you it is the stressful, expensive, and consuming part of it, but I'm ecstatic. We bought a house here after my year long in depth search to find the perfect house in this town. That is impossible, but I finally found one I love. It has been a stressful process in making the offer and doing all the due diligence to get it, but we are almost there. Everything is done, we are just waiting to close on the 25th of this month (only 2 more weeks). I can't wait!!!
