I chose to use the set The Light of Life.  I fell in love with the lantern image the minute I laid eyes on it.  It's so rustic and charming.  I stamped it with Versamark onto watercolor paper, embossed it with black embossing powder and colored it with Tombow markers.

I used a new Spellbinders die set called A2 Curved Borders one and completely cut away the edges of the front panel of the card.  I hope you can see it better opened a bit.   I then used a couple of EK Success Border punches for the top and sewed in some burlap string.

That's it for me.  Now just hop along because you won't want to miss all the inspiration these gals have for you today.

I made today's card using two sets:  Tulip Corner and Never Give Up.  I LOVE these tulips. They're so beautifully shaped and remind me of the tulip garden we had in our backyard.  It was always a treat watching them bloom after the long winters.  That's why I chose to use this Philippians verse along with it.  I believe the tulips can be reminders that there can be beauty after a long cold season!

I'm keeping my post short so you can keep hopping along.  The other gals are sure to inspire!!

I have the honor of starting the hop today, and I went very CAS using the Bookmark ~ Trees set with the coordinating Bookmark Dies, along with the set Faith.   The beautifully designed bookmark images do most of the work for you.  I LOVE that!

Our bookkeeper's daughter loves to read, so I thought it would be fun to give her a book with this bookmark included.  I chose the faithful sentiment because I think young ones can get overwhelmed with big ambitions.  We put such huge demands and expectations on our kids at such a young age, that some tasks can seem daunting.  I love this quote by Mother Teresa.

I just stamped the image with Onyx Black Versafine and inked the background using the Ranger Distress Inks Mustard Seed and Ripe Persimmon.  I then added the sentiment from the Faith set, and diecut it using the coordinating Bookmark Die.  Easy Peasy

Here is what I used:

That's all I have for you today.  Next stop on the hop is the super sweet Betty!!

If you've arrived here from Silke's blog, you're right on track.

The moment I laid my eyes on the Grunge Cross image from the Never Give Up set, I knew I had to have it!  I love the grungy swirly background and all the texture.  And the sentiments are so encouraging.  Now, this isn't a Christmas card, per se, but I feel the sentiments and cross fit for this time of year.  "When once the call of God comes, begin to go, and never stop going." Didn't Mary do just that when told to go to Bethlehem?  And she never gave up even when they were having a hard time finding a place to stay.

My daughter felt led to go to a college 2000 miles away from home, and at times she's felt a bit overwhelmed.  I thought a card like this would be uplifting.

Look closely at the background of the main panel.  I stamped the sentiment "Never, Never, Never give up" with Vintage Sepia (Versafine), stamped off once.  I also stamped the swirls and grunge from the cross image using Smokey Gray (Versafine).  The background was first distress inked with Sea Breeze (VersaMagic) and Fresh Snow (PTI), I also used the Grunge Cross Die and popped it up for dimension.

That's it for my project today, I hope you've been inspired.  :)
Next up is the sweet and talented Betty.

ODBD For the Love of Gift Giving Hop

Before I get to today's ODBD Hop, let me start by wishing all my friends in the United States a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving.  I realize there are always rough patches in our lives each year, but today is a special reminder to look for and be thankful for our blessings.  I have many, but at the top of the list is God, who brings me through the rough patches and shares all my joys, my husband who provides so well and is a constant strength, and my 2 kids who bring me joy each and every day just by being the wonderful young adults God created them to be!!

Now, onto the hop.....

Welcome to Our Daily Bread Design's Alumni Team's bi-monthly For the Love Blog Hop.  This week the Alumni team along with some of the ODBD designers are featuring a hop For the Love of Gift Giving! Check out each link and leave a comment. If you get lost along the way, check the ODBD blog for full list of links.  One of the post is a hop hot spot and a name will be drawn from that list of comments to win a $15 ODBD store gift certificate.  So, all you have to do is hop along and see all the creations and leave a little love!  You have until Wednesday, December, 5th at 6 pm.
This theme can be interpreted in a few ways.  One....you can actually make a gift to give to someone using ODBD stamps.  You can make tags to place on gifts for Christmas, or you can also make gift giving packing possibilities.  Do not forget ornaments and sweet confections as well.
Enjoy all the beautiful designs featuring For the Love of Gift Giving!

If you've arrived here from Silke's blog, you're on the right track.  So here's how I interpreted the challenge.

I had the privilege of attending a fabulous vintage art retreat two weeks ago (Pasadena, CA), called "A Gilded Life Spellbound Event" , with my dear, and uber talented friend,  Linda Duke, and was greatly inspired!!  Most of the classes involved jewelry making and soldering (way out of my box...lol), but they inspired me to put on "my vintage hat" for this project.  There are quite a bit of details on this tag, and I won't give a lengthy description, so all my supplies will be listed at the bottom.

What I want to make sure you notice, though, are the two poinsettias.  They are from the Blessed Christmas set and Poinsettia Tag set respectively.  I colored them both with copics and ink distressed them with Spun Sugar Ranger Distress Ink.  They are both layered also with some Halo Silver Mix (Stampendous) added to their centers.

The background (or base) of the tag was diecut with Labels 17 (Spellbinders), and the flourished circle behind the larger poinsettia is from the Spellbinders die set Venetian Motifs.  I added a design element from that die set to the top too, but it's basically covered with embellishments and is hard to see.

I embossed the tag base with a holly embossing folder by Sizzix and brushed some Silver Pearl Ex using Versamark as my Base.

Here you can see the tiny Tag Poinsettia and the charming spray of leaves the image provides.  Oh, btw..the poinsettia images were stamped with Pumice Stone Ranger Distress Ink.

Here's a close up of the banner running across the tag.  The sentiment, from the Blessed Christmas set, was embossed with Silver Embossing Powder.

That about sums up all the major stamping details of this tag.  The embellishments will all be listed below.

Next up on the hop is the sweet and talented Betty!!!

Here are the ODBD sets I used:

Happy Thanksgiving my friends!!

For the Love of ODBD Hop

Welcome to Our Daily Bread Design's Alumni Team's bi-monthly For the Love Blog Hop.  This week the Alumni team along with some of the ODBD designers are featuring a hop For the Love of Animals! Check out each link and leave a comment. If you've arrived here from Silke's inspiring blog, you're on the right track.

I chose to use the set Father's Day.  I actually took a picture of a moose similar to this image while vacationing in Alaska.  My husband wasn't too happy about it because I was quite close and moose can be more dangerous then bear.  But I was at the base of the steps on a bus and I figured I could back-pedal up stairs faster than he could get to me...right?  *grin*

Anyway, this set is called Father's Day, but it doesn't have to be limited to only that holiday.  I made this for my husband because I'm going out of town for 4 days and thought I'd leave this card for him.  This set is very versatile.

That's it for my card.  Next on the hop is the fabulously talented and equally as kind, Grace.

Thanks for visiting!
Happy Stamping!!

For the Love of Scenic Stamps ~ Our Daily Bread Designs

Welcome to Our Daily Bread Design's Alumni Team's bi-monthly For the Love Blog Hop. This week the Alumni team, along with some of the ODBD designers, is featuring a hop For the Love of ODBD scenic stamps! Check out each link and leave a comment. If you get lost along the way, check the ODBD blog for a full list of links. One of the posts is a hop hot spot and a name will be drawn from that list of comments to win a $15 ODBD store gift certificate. So, all you have to do is hop along, see all the creations and leave a little love! You have until Wednesday, August 15th at 6 pm. Enjoy all the beautiful designs using For the Love of ODBD scenic stamps!

I have the privilege of starting this week's blog hop, so I'll get right to my card.

Click on the photo for a closer and more detailed view.

I chose to use the scenic stamp set called Porch because it reminds me of my childhood. I have a lot of fond memories of visiting on our front porch as a child. We lived in a small town, and my mom and I would sit on the porch swing husking corn, hulling strawberries, or snapping beans throughout the summer. Many friends and neighbors would stop by to either take a break from their walks or bike rides. What fun times! Living in the country now, I miss those times. Although living on a farm has advantages too.

It's probably pretty obvious that I love making cards with a predominantly white background. I feel sometimes it really aids in making the image pop. And since this image had a lot of details, I wanted the background to be minimal. I also like to add punched borders to the bottom of my cards, as well as some scoring.

The image was stamped onto kraft cardstock with Versamark. I then embossed it with white ep and colored it with Copics. The layered panel consists of Tim Holtz's Core'dinations Kraft Core Nostalgic collection. I just added some Gesso to it and sanded it to give some texture. I thought the sentiment "He restores my soul...Psalm 23:3" was a perfect fit for this scene. Especially considering the memories it brought back. My mom and I were best friends, and good memories are a great balm to the soul.

That's it for my CAS (Clean and Simple) card today. Next along the hop is the sweet and talented Betty. I know she'll have a project to share that's filled with delightful colors and perfect embellishments.

Thanks for visiting!!
Happy Stamping!
