Hoppy Snowflakes ~ Power Poppy

Hello everyone.  It's been quite awhile since I've posted and I'm very sorry.  Life has a way of interrupting our plans and expectations sometimes, and I haven't been able to stamp like I'd like to. But I'm back, and excited to share my creation with you today.

I had fun combining two very different Power Poppy stamp sets:  Grandma's Snowflakes and O Hoppy Day.  There are quite a few birthdays that we celebrate in December, and I've been told (I don't drink beer, so I'm going according to what others have said), that beer is best when it's really, really cold.  So, I thought...snow is cold...why not combine these two sets for some fun, to celebrate a friend's birthday.

I started by diecutting a piece of kraft cardstock, left it in the die, and taped it to my surface.   I masked off a 2 1/4" stripe on the bottom third, and then sponged on some Whisper White (SU!) pigment ink.  I removed the masking and stamped the Grandma's Snowflakes.

Then, I stamped the O Hoppy Day image with Gray Flannel (Memento) Ink and colored it with Copics.  I used Liquid Applique for the foam, and the sentiment was stamped with Onyx Black (Versafine).  Lastly, I splattered on some white acrylic paint, and voila...you can see more detail below.

That's it for my project today.  Be sure to check out the following Bloomie blogs for some incredible inspiration!!!

I hope you are enjoying getting ready for Christmas.  I actually have all my gifts wrapped and under the tree and am ready for the festivities to begin.  The Leyendekker Christmas get-together is actually this very evening.  It's quite a big deal because we usually have 80+  there.  My in-laws are 90 and 91 years, and have 8 children who are all married.  There are 29 Grandchildren and 30 Great Grandchildren with 2 on the way.  And...most live in California.  Only 3 Grandchildren live out of state with their spouses and kids.  It can be a bit crazy.  :)

I hope you have the most Blessed Christmas!!!
  Happy Stamping!

Masculine Short Stacks with Sassy Succulents ~ Power Poppy

Hello again!!  How has your week been?  My heart goes out to those suffering from flooding, or hurricane threats.  And the fires...well, we're getting the smoke from some, but we're not in any risk other than suffering from allergies because of the poor air quality.  So, I'm counting my blessings, and praying for those who are suffering right now.

I do have a masculine card to share with you today, that I created by combining two different Power Poppy Clear stamp sets:  Short Stacks and Sassy Succulents.

I needed a masculine card for my dad's birthday, and I love the packages from the Short Stack set.  I didn't want to make him a card with tulips and a cupcake though, so I thought, why not add a couple of succulents.  So, I got out my Misti, put the clear stamp in it and taped off the tulips and cupcakes with repositionable tape.  I inked everything up, removed the tape and stamped the image onto some X-Press It cardstock.  So...now I have just two packages.  I was able to easily line up the two different succulent pots from the Sassy Succulent set and the end result is what you see above.

http://powerpoppy.blogspot.com/2017/08/hues-to-use-get-your-motor-runnin.html

I thought the latest Hues to Use it colors were perfect for a masculine card, so I worked with those colors and used some perfect dp from Simple Stories to highlight it.

That's it for my project today.  Be sure to check out what the following Bloom Brigaders have to share though...they are always fabulous at inspiring creativity!!

Anni~Verve~sary Blog Hop with Cake and Candles

Welcome back to Day 5 of the Anni-VERVE-sary Spotlight Hops!  It's an exciting day as there's new Verve in the store this morning! 4 beautiful new sets and 2 coordinating die sets just released and they're all available to order right now. To celebrate this special 10th Anni-VERVE-sary release, we're putting on another blog hop, with a pretty cool prize!

I'm super excited to share the card I made today using Verve's new set called Cake and Candles!!  I knew as soon as I saw the "Happy Cake and Candles" sentiment, that I was going to try something I have wanted to for quite some time.  I just needed the right image.

I bought a Chibi Lights kit quite awhile back and never got around to using it....until today that is!!  It was super easy too.  I used the "Light up Interactive Card" tutorial by Jennifer McGuire and it came together perfectly.  Seriously...no mishaps.  And for me...that is seriously rare!!

In this close up, you can see the candle lighting up with a push on the sentiment.  Isn't that just super fun?  And the background was just as easy.  I just sprayed some Peacock Feathers and Twisted Citron Distress spray Stain onto my craft mat, and added some spritzes of water to it.  I then laid some cardstock over the ink and voila...a beautiful splotchy background!!  This card was so easy and super fun!!!

That about sums up my project for today's hop.
So, want to win some shiny new Verve? Today's prize is a BIG one. We'll be picking a random commenter on one of the hop spots below to win our ENTIRE new release! So be sure to leave a little comment on all the blogs below to increase your chances!

Cake and Candles ~ Verve Anniversary Hop

Welcome to Day 3 of the Anni-VERVE-sary Spotlight Hops!  It's time for another day of spotlighting the Verve release with the Verve Divas and special guests! I am super excited to be guest designing for Verve to help celebrate it's 10 year Anniversary.  How awesome is that.  I had the privilege of being on the Verve Design Team from 2009-2012, and it was seriously an honor.

Today we're sharing our first projects featuring the Cake and Candles stamp set, another fusion of old and new. This birthday themed compilation includes some brand new birthday sentiments with a classy modern font pairing, as well as a few re-introductions of previous sentiments and plain janes.

I decided to go a bit vintage with the cupcake in this set.  I stamped the cupcake with Gray Flannel Memento Ink, onto X-Press It cardstock and colored it with Copics.  I cut it out and burnished it to give it some texture and dimension, and popped it up on some Rossi Belle Prima Cardstock.

Below is a close up so you can see the dimension of the cupcake a bit better.  If you click on the photo, you can see how the frosting is puffed up, and the cupcake wrapper is pleated.

That's it for my project today.

Everything previewed this week will be available to order in the Verve online store on Monday, August 28. If you just can't wait, you can pre-order the entire release now as the August 2017 Buy it All Bundle at a 30% discount through August 27.

Power Poppy Birthday Move the Soul Gift Bag

Hello creative friends!!  It's been awhile!!  Life has been busy as I'm sure many of yours has been also.  I'm excited to share a sweet Gift Bag I made for a dear friend of ours.  Since his birthday is in the month of December, I thought it would be fun to make it none Christmas to separate it from the Holidays.

I used Power Poppy's Move the Soul set for the gift bag front.  It seems he and my husband think that one day they will each own a Harley and will take their adventures to the roads.  Silly boys.  Like that's ever going to happen.  LOL  But it's good to dream right?!?!  My Gift Bag Topper tutorial can be found HERE.

Christine has a thoughtful and fun Power and Spark Challenge this month.  Here is the challenge in her words:

"The idea is to create something that will be a sweet treat for someone else (so think card, tag, hostess gift, etc) designed to help with those quick Christmas gifts."

I hope you'll get a chance to participate!!

That's it for today's project!!  I hope you are all safe from crazy weather, and are enjoying all this year's Holiday festivities!!

Birthday Party Time ~ Power Poppy

Hello my creative friends!!  Fall has finally arrived here in Central California, and I couldn't be more thrilled!!!  Our trees are finally changing color, and the air is crisper.  I thoroughly enjoyed a brisk 36 degree morning today while walking my dogs.  Yes!!!!

I have a special card to share with you today, using Power Poppy's Party Time set.   You see, it's one of our illustrious leaders' birthday on Sunday, and her name happens to be....JULIE!!  So, if you get a chance...hop on over to her blog and wish her a Happy Birthday!  She most definitely deserves a very special day!!

Since her birthday is during "my Fall"...I thought I'd incorporate Fall colors.  The cake is colored with Copics, and I paper-pieced the banner using Cartabella's Autumn dp.

That's about about sums up today's project.  Now be sure to check out the following Bloom Brigaders for some more inspiration.

Black-Eyed Susan ~ Power Poppy

http://powerpoppy.blogspot.com/
Hello creative friends!!  I'm finally back to share another Power Poppy card with you!  It's featuring a new digital image called Black-Eyed Susan.  I took creative liberty and made mine white with a mottled gray background.  I started coloring it with yellows, oranges and deep reds and just wasn't feeling it.  So white they are.  I added some Clear Wink of Stella to the stamen tips too.  Unfortunately, as always, it doesn't photograph well.  I wanted this card to be for my daughter's birthday, so instead of using the sentiments that come with this set (they are fabulous by-the-way), I added a "Happy Birthday" sentiment from the Power Poppy Go Wild clear set.

For my card base, I embossed a panel and added some Pure Platinum Nuvo Embellishment Mousse to give it a gilded effect.  It has just the right amount of shine in real life.

I colored some black stamens with a Silver Leafing Pen (Krylon), so they would match the flower stamens in the image a bit better, and added it to a seam binding bow.

It's your birthday in Black and White ~ Power Poppy

Happy Friday y'all!!  It's a great day to be sharing some inspiration, don't you think?  And what better way than with some Power Poppy images!

Today I went over to my dark side a bit.  I colored my images, from the Power Poppy Clear Stamp Set Party Time, with only two Copic color families: Black and Turquoise.  Now, I'm getting up there in years, so I know a lot of people celebrating the birthday milestones that are "a bit up there" if you know what I mean.  So I thought it would be fun to color my packages and cake dark with a pop of color...so it's not too morbid after all.  ;)

I even pulled a "Cindy Lawrence" and finished off the inside of my card.  She always goes above and beyond, and since I admire her so much,  I thought it was about time I did too.  Besides, I loved the sentiment "Bring it On" and wanted to use it with this color scheme...like you're saying..."Turning 50?...Bring it On"!!!!

Lastly, I added some Chrome Pearl Pen dots to my cake to make them look like edible candy additions.

That's it for me y'all!!  Now, if you haven't already, check out what my fellow Bloom Brigaders have to share:

Corn Hole Card tutorial

Hello friends!!  It's been awhile since I've posted.  Sorry about that, but I've had a bit of family visiting from out of state, and to me, family always comes first.  Now though, it's back to creating.

I have a fun card to share with you today.  We're big lovers of Corn Hole around here, and have been known to host some laid back tournaments on occasion at our home and while camping.  It's always in good fun, but I have to admit...it can be exciting to be on the winning team every once in awhile.  Not exciting.........when you're competing for the championship and your opponent sinks all four bags in one turn.  SERIOUSLY?!?!??!  Now that's rude.  ;)

Anyway, one of my nephews was celebrating his 16th birthday a couple of days ago, and he and I have a fun rivalry going on.  I took great pleasure in beating him in corn hole this past week.  I know that sounds wicked...but shoot...teenage boys can be ornery, so it's an added bonus when you get an opportunity to rub in a win every once in awhile.  *grin*

So, I thought it would be fun to design a Corn Hole board for a card.  All I did was make a 3 1/4" x 5 1/2" single layer card.  I diecut a circle toward the top and taped off a triangle shape using some removable tape.  I then added some Faded Jeans Ranger Distress Ink to the outside of the card leaving a white triangle for the sentiment.  The sentiments are from the Power Poppy set Party Time.  They fit perfectly!!

I also diecut 3 Double Stitched Squares (Die-Namics) to use for the bean bags and burnished the back of them to give them a worn look.  Lastly, I added some Pumice Stone Ranger Distress Ink to the bags and board to give them a well used look, because, lets face it...our equipment is well used.  oops...almost forgot...I added a black base to the back to make the hole in the front more prominent.

That's it.  Easy-Peasy.  Oh...and I should mention...the reason for the colors is because he's a New England Patriots fan.  My husband wasn't a fan of the card because of that...being a 49ers fan himself.  Yikes.  The things we do for family.  I tell ya!!

Thanks for stopping by!!  Be sure to drop by on Friday.  I will have another fabulous Power Poppy image to share with you.  It's Bee-yond adorable!!

   Happy Stamping!

Tea in the Garden ~ Power Poppy

http://powerpoppy.com/products/tea-in-the-garden
Woo-Hoo!!  Power Poppy's Release Day has finally arrived!!  You can now purchase any of these fabulous new sets!!  How exciting!  I know I adore them!  Gorgeous images, and the most perfect sentiments!  For my final card today, I used the MFTWSC180 sketch with the beautiful cake from the new Power Poppy set called Tea in the Garden.    The sentiment is from the Power Poppy set called
http://powerpoppy.com/products/party-time
Party Time.

I thought it would be fun to make the frosting look like a chocolate ganache, so I colored it with some darker brown tones and added some Glossy Accents to it to make it shine.  I also added Glossy Accents to the cake stand.

I did a little something different with the sentiment too.  Have you ever embossed with white on black cardstock and found that you are having a hard time getting every little white fleck of the embossing powder off?  (And yes, I do use an anti-static pad before embossing.)  Well, I thought I'd try using my Minc machine with Opaque white foil, and it did absolutely beautifully!!!  No stray flecks!!  All you have to do is stamp your sentiment on copy paper, run it through a copier with toner, add your white foil and run it through the machine.  Perfection, I tell ya!!

Here's a close up so you can see the shine better, as well as the beautifully "Minc'd" sentiment.
