I'm Back...

My postings over the last couple of months have been very far & few between.  I do hope to be back & posting more often.  Things have been a little crazy with me of late, but fingers crossed it is "full steam ahead".

Today's card has been created for my Volunteer Class we had this arvo.  It is also a perfect way of using all that retired DSP that we have on hand but don't want to get rid of at the time.  In fact, this paper is from a couple of years ago & yes, I hadn't even cut into it.

Well, you will be happy to know that I have created a couple of cards from it which means that there is not that much of it left - doing a happy dance!

Have you noticed there is no stamping on this card.  BUT, I did use MDS for the "Happy Birthday".

I originally found today's card on Pinterest & have it sitting there for some time to do.  Thank you so much for your inspiration!

Please note, the Green used in this card is not SU!

Technique Class....

As usual I am a little behind in posting one of the cards we did in our Technique Class a couple of weeks ago.  We focused on "Double Embossing"  If you haven't played with this technique, make sure you do, as it is a lot of fun & so many possibilities. In this class we concentrated on 2 of the may possibilities.

Today's cards is the more traditional way of "Double Embossing".  We also concentrated on Father's Day.  For those who didn't want to create a card for Father's Day, they use "Birthday Wishes" instead.

To create my card I combined a couple of different cards together from Pinterest.

Card -

Our Bonus Project was a Wine Label to match the card

I then created a Post-It Note Holder when I got home

This is the set together, including a matching Gift Card

Until next time, when I will show you the 2nd card we created

Card # 2...

... from our "Misc Card" class last month - August.

With Father's Day coming up, it was perfect timing to create a card especially for Dad or the male in your life.  It is the perfect card for anyone who happens to play a "little" golf.  Is there such a word as "a little golf"?

We used the beautiful new Regals Designer Series Paper Stack for this card & would you believe it, one of the designs looked just like an image in the stamp set, so of course, we had to use it together.

Since the change to the Colour Families, I am really enjoying the Regals Family & am going to have to put a halt to the whole lot soon or everyone will be sick of them & think there is no other colours.  They are just so lovely!

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Pennant Parade - 122742
Ink - Night of Navy - 126970, Garden Green - 126973
Cardstock - Whisper White - 106549, Night of Navy - 106577, Basic Black - 121689, Early Expresso - 126974
DSP - Designer Series Paper Stack - Regals - 130139
Punches - Petite Pennants Builder - 122361, Large Oval - 119855, 1/2" Circle - 119869

August Class...

My share today is one of the 3 cards we did in our August Classes - "Misc Cards".

As I get a lot of requests for male cards, thought it would be a great idea to showcase the great little stamp set "Pennant Parade", Page 18 of the new catalogue.  This set is perfect for all occasions.

We also concentrated on a couple of  key colours for our cards - Cherry Cobbler, Crushed Curry, Early Expresso, Whisper White, Garden Green & Night of Navy.  I like to show people that you do not need everything in the catalogue (although it would certainly nice to have it all) to create lovely cards.

This is not my original idea as I saw something like it on Pinterest, but didn't say it.  I only sort of remember seeing it & for some reason it stuck in my mind.  I did change it a little though.

I don't have a tutorial for today's card, but will post one with all 3 cards once I have posted the last card.

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Pennant Parade - 122742, Itty Bitty Banners - 122497
Cardstock - Whisper White - 106549, Cherry Cobbler - 121681, Crushed Curry - 131288, Early Expresso - 126974,
Ink - Night of Navy - 126970, Crushed Curry - 131173, Cherry Cobbler - 126966
Punches - Petite Pennants Builder - 119849
Baker's Twine - Cherry Cobbler - 123125
Embossing Folder - Perfect Polka Dots - 117335
Framelits - Bitty Banners - 129267
Accessories - Big Shot - 113439, Simply Scoring Tool - 122334, Snail Adhesive - 104332, Glue Dots - 103683, Multipurpose Glue - 110755, Stampin' Dimensionals - 104430

SC 084/13...

This could be a very short post as I am having big issues with my mouse & pc.

It was Gwen's turn to set our challenge this week over at Sunny Challenges & Creations & once again she has been easy on us.

All we have to do is create a card for a Male!  It could be a scrapbook page, 3-d project or anything else you can think of.  Some of us have trouble creating male cards, so hopefully with the lovely ideas the Design Team have should help you on your way.

I started with a sketch from another challenge, but somehow got off track & only created using the sketch so far & then I sort of went off on my own, which means I won't be entering it in the other challenge.  Thank you Mary-Jo for your inspirational challenge!

I will be the first to admit I haven't used Chocolate Chip in a long time, so decide to use that for my Base Card.  I wanted the colours to be beachy without going traditional, so I teamed it with Tangerine Tango with a touch of Always Artichoke.  I'm really happy with the final result, although the picture does not do it justice.  For some unknown reason I had a hard time taking a photo of this card.  The photos all seemed to be blurry.....

Supplies –
Stamp Set              By the Tide – 129120, Express Yourself - Hostess
Ink                           Tangerine Tango - 126946, Chocolate Chip - 126979, Always Artichoke - 126972
Cardstock              Very Vanilla – 106550, Always Artichoke - 108610, Tangerine Tango - 116206, Chocolate Chip - 108599
Embossing Folder Woodgrain - 127821
Punches                 Modern Label – 119849, 2 ½” Circle - 120906
Accessories           Big Shot - 113439, Snail Adhesive – 104332, Stampin’ Dimensionals – 104430,
                                 Multipurpose Liquid Glue - 110755

The Open Sea.....

... was the Stamp Set we used in one of our Technique Classes a few weeks ago.  I am so far behind in my posts that I think I will have something every couple of days for the next 2 weeks, so be sure to pop back to check them out.

With this class we concentrated on doing the Wax Paper or Faux Parchment Technique.  This turned out to be the perfect technique for creating male cards.  We got to use lots of different techniques with this card, including - Crimper, Sponging, Big Shot plus a different type of fold, which is what this card turned out to be - Twisted Easel.  They are such fun to create.

STB #11...

... meets the new Stamp Set "Dapper Dad".
My card today has been created for the challenge over at "Seize the Birthday".  I've been watching this site since it first started but have only managed to create a card now.  Very slack on my behalf, I know.

When I saw the challenge this week, this set was the first that come to mind. This was the first set I purchased from the current Mini Catalogue when it first come out & it has only just seen ink.

As I wanted to give the card some depth, I decided to stamp the shoe image twice, the 2nd image onto scrap cardstock, fussy cut it & then adhere it to the top of the main panel with Stampin' Dimensionals.  I think it makes it stand out a little more, especially as the matching DSP tends to be a bright & a little in your face.  Don't you just love those shoes?  This is the perfect Stamp Set & DSP for the males in your life.

I also decided to break the middle section away from the DSP by adding the new Embossing Folder - Needlebpoint Border.  What a great little folder this is?  I didn't want the scallop edge at all, so I embossed along the edge of the stitching only.  I like the end result & how it breaks away from the DSP.

SC 075/13...

Inside Card...
What a great challenge we have over at Sunny Challenges & Creations for you this fortnight.  Once again Gwen has been very easy on us whereby she has given us no sketch, but that we are to create a card, scrapbook page or 3-D item with the theme of "Get Well".

This is the type of card that we usually leave to the last moment to create, but one that we should all probably have in our box of goodies for that special person who may not be feeling on top of the world & knowing that you were thinking of them can pick them up no end.

After creating 2 cards, yep you read right - TWO - I went to post the challenge, only to discover that I had the wrong sentiment, so back to the drawing board for me.  I then completely went in another direction & created one for the male, which we don't see too often, but can be a difficult one to create.

Would you believe I don't own a "Get Well" stamp.  I just about pulled my shelves apart looking for one.  There is nothing worse than looking for something you think you have.  Anyhow, not to be outbeaten, I then grabbed a piece of Whisper White Cardstock, typed the sentiment in Early Expresso Ink & printed out.  So now you know what will be in my next order along with any other sentiment that I think I may need in the future.......

In fact, my card all started from a small piece of Always Artichoke Cardstock & went from there.  For the layout, I took the layout from Mary-Jo's current challenge.

I've just rememered that it fits my online group's challenge over at Latenight Stampers as well.  How good is that? Not starting out with much at all & I've completed 3 challenges with the same card.....

We would love for you to play along with our challenge this week.  To get you started, why not pop on over to Sunny Challenges & Creations, see what Gwen, Kris & our Guest Designers have created.  Create your card, etc, post to an online group or forum, then link back to Mr Linky.

Remember if we have over 10 entries, then we can give out 2 Ray of Sunshines.......

Clockworks....

... has been used for my card today.

This is a great stamp set for the males in your life.....  In fcat, it is great for the females too.  Just change the colours.

In fact, the card has been created for 2 challenges, which sort of surprised me as I didn't realise it met the criteria for one of the challenges.

The first challenge is for Stampin' Fun & Friends which is all about "Sweet Sentiments".  Click on the picture on the top right hand side & it will take you to the site where you can sign up.  There is still time to join.  There have been some lovely projects just in time for Valentine's.

"Feeling Blue" was the 2nd challenge which is part of my online group Late Night Stampers where we had to create something with Blue has the main colour.  Why not pop over, see what the Design Team have created & of course the rest of the entries.  Better still, why not join us in our challenge.

Again, I decided to use one of my favourite Embossing Folders - Square Lattice. You know the old saying about "Blue & Green should never been seen", but who takes any notice of this..... I love how Midnight Muse & Lucky Limeade work so well together, but you be the judge for yourself.

Don't forget to grab the free tutorial to copy & save for later on

Male Card....

This card was created for a class I held back in August showing the ladies how to use the Big Shot, Colouring with Markers, Sponging & Masking.  It was a very enjoyable class, the best part being all the cards were really different, even though we all had the same kit.

Faux Wood...

Envelope & Inside...
I love how easy this card come together.  The technique is fantastic & very easy to complete.  Makes for a great male card - we all have trouble with creating them sometimes.

This will be one of the cards we are going to create in our next technique class - details below - "Faux Wood".....

I've used colours that are not normally used in the everyday wood you see around the place, as I wanted to try someting different & to see if I could create a completely different look.  To lift the colours a little, I decided to add a little bit of Real Red.  I'm glad I did, as it brough the whole card alive, including the background.

I want the card to be for a male, but instead of for the traditional stamps, eg cars, trees, etc, I thought "why not a Rosette?"  Who says these can't be for the males?  I'm really happy with the final result, but would love to hear what you think.

Venue    Caloundra Community Centre
               78 Buderim Street, Currimundi
Cost        $15.00
Time       1.00pm - 4.00pm
BYO       Tool Kit & Adhesives
Date        Sunday,  7 October

Close Up of Faux Wood & Rosette...

Don't forget to check back in a couple of days time & I will show you the 2nd card we will be crating using the same technique.

Until then, Happy Stampin'

SC 052/12...

Our challenge this week over at Sunny Challenges & Creations has been brought to us by Christine Blain, who just happens to be our Guest Designer for the month.
With Father's Day coming up in September for Australia, it is the perfect challenge to start creating your cards or project using this challenge.  I opted to go for a male's birthday card & used a set that I really like, but must admit, haven't used it for sometime.  In fact, I am really happy with the final result!

Measurements -
Base Card - Soft Suede - 8 1/4" x 5 7/8" or 21cm x 15cm
Layer 1 - Very Vanilla - 5 3/4" x 4" or 14.5cm x 10cm
Layer 2 - DSP - 5 5/8" x 3 7/8" or 14cm x 9.5cm
Layer 3 x 2 - So Saffron - 4" x 1/2" or 14.5cm x 1cm
Layer 4 - Not Quite Navy - 4" x 2" or 14.5cm x 5cm
Layer 5 - Very Vanilla - 4" x 1 7/8" or 14.5cm x 4.5cm

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Totally Tool, Happiest Birthday Wishes
Ink - Soft Suede
Cardstock - Not Quite Navy, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, So Saffron, Basic Grey
DSP - Well Worn
Accessories - Snail Adhesive, Crystal Effects, Crop-a-Dile, Stampin' Up! Wirte Markers - So Saffron, Cherry Cobbler, Not Quite Navy

I inked my images with the Not Quite Navy Write Marker, stamped off once onto a scrap piece of paper & stamped onto the piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock.  I repeated this same step until I was happy with the look of the card.  I then stamped 3 images onto scrap Very Vanilla direct onto the card, cut the images out, coloured part of the images with Stampin' Up! Write Markers - So Saffron, Not Quite Navy, Cherry Cobbler & set aside.

The piece of Very Vanilla was adhered to the piece of Not Quiet Navy, then So Saffron, to the piece of DSP, Very Vnailla & finally to the Base Card - Soft Suede all with Snail Adhesive.

I completely forgot to add my Silver Brads to the top left hand corner of the card, so I comprised a little.  I punched out 6 circles using my Crop-a-Dile, adhered 2 to the top LH corner with Tombow, 1 to the middle of the screwdriver, 1 to the handle of the spanner & 1 to the card where I wanted to place the hammer.

The tools were then adhered to the card - as per the photo with Tombow, with the spanner being my 3rd brad at the top LH corner.

The greeting was stamped in Soft Suede onto Very Vanilla, cut to size & adhered to the card prior to adhering the final Faux Brad it.

Don't forget to pop over to Sunny Challenges & Creations to check out what Gwen, Kris & Christine have created.

We would love for you to join us!

Until next time, Happy Stampin'
