{Prince Charming} SFYTT

Happy SFYTT Saturday to you all!!
Did you have a great week? I hope you did. I actually worked two days this week on a brand new ABC Family show called Pretty little liars. I think it airs in June. It was
great seeing some old colleagues again and the days weren't actually too long (I think I worked a 15hr and a 14hr day) but I haven't been working in a while so I'm not used to being on my feet all day anymore...soo basically my feet hurt and we used smoke on stage all day both days so my sinuses are acting up too. Oh well...nothing a few days off can't fix. :)

So originally SFYTT was going to host another sponsor this week: Skipping Stones Design but life happened and we had to postpone. I myself am new to Skipping Stones Stamps but I'm quickly becoming a fan especially once I spotted their funny stamps line. lol
Who can say no to a good giggle?! So here is my card this week featuring some Skipping Stones Design stamps. :)

I used stamps from the Funny About Men set. This set will have all your girlfriends laughing. I felt the circle was a bit too white so I sponged some Lake Mist ink around the edges and colored in a shadow for my frog with a Copic Marker.

The papers I used are all from the Boyfriend collection by Cosmo Cricket. This is such a cool collection!! I just looooove it!! :)

Are you ready to see what my SFYTT sisters have come up with? Cuz' you know it's going to be fabulous!!
* Jen del Muro and a big thanks to our May Guest Designer Chupa

Thanks so much for stopping by, have a GREAT weekend and can't wait to see what you create!!!

{Shoot 'em Up} TCP Tues111

Hi guys, I'm so sorry this post is going up a bit late. I had it scheduled and I'm not really sure what happened but I wasn't able to fix it until I got home from work - yes I got a two-day job helping out on Pretty Little Liars, which I think is a new ABC Family show. Anyway here it is...finally...here is my "woody" TCP Tuesday card. :)

You missed the Blog Hop?! Well you're in for a treat then! Get comfy and hop on over to Amy's Blog because that's where the fun starts. Happy Hopping!!

You're finished hopping?! Welcome back - I hope you enjoyed it and now back to our regular scheduled programming. :)

The always trendy Amy is our challenge hostess this week and she challenged us to use wood in our card, that could be wood patterned paper like I used here or a wood stamp perhaps.

Why don't you get "woody" with it, upload your creation to SCS and link it to Alma's Blog for your chance of winning $25 in Cat Cash and the title Swanky Stamper of the month?! All the deets can be found HERE.

My card here was a hoot to make. I took some wood patterned paper from Cosmo Cricket's Mr. Campy line, glued some of the lighter colored teal paper to the back of it and cut into it to create this bullet hole look.

My Poochie and the sentiment are both from the set It's a Western Thing by the Cat's Pajamas. I stamped him on the darker teal paper and colored him in with some Copic Markers. For his nose I simply used the Inkssentials White Pen, which gives you AMAZING coverage. I used a clear journal sticker as frame around my sentiment.

For the patterned Twill Tape I just inked up my star stamp (from It's a Western Thing) with some Soft Suede ink and stamped it on my plain ole Twill Tape.

Some metal gears by Tim Holtz and some paper aging add the final touches.

Thank you so much for stopping by again!
I hope you get the chance to get "woody" with us!! :) :) :)

Alma's Swanky Birthday Blog Hop

I hope you're not too busy with all your Memorial Day preparations because we have something fun to share with you: it's Alma's Birthday (well it will be on May 30th) and we've decided to celebrate with an impromptu Blog Hop!!!

What? You don't know who Alma is? Well you're missing out then let me tell 'ya. Alma is the swanky genius behind the Cat's Pajamas stamps. You have never heard of the Cat's Pajama's stamps? Well shoot what'cha waiting for? Click HERE and pay 'em a visit.

So back to the business of the Hop - if you came here from Tracy's Blog then you are so on track but if you just kinda sorta stumbled on this hop here then why don't you go pay Amy a visit because that's where all the fun starts.

It's also TCP Tuesday and the one and only Amy Rohl is challenging us to use Wood in our project...well I kinda jumped the gun with my project and had this already made up before we decided on the challenge so the only wood you'll find here today is the coaster holder...BUT if you come back tomorrow I'll have my "woody" card here for you and it's quite the cutie if I may say so!!! :)

Why don't you play with us and help celebrate Alma's Birthday?
All the deets can be found HERE!!

Here's what I came up with for Alma:
I got these great photo coasters at Michaels and instead of putting a photo in them I got stampy with it, going with a drinking & cheers (in different languages) theme.
The coasters are of course accompanied by a matching card.

Here are some detailed shots:

The glittery jammin' penguins are from one of the new TCP sets Hola Tequila. The sentiment is from the Smells Like Cake set.

I used patterned papers from the Songbird collection by DCWV, Black & White Basics by Me&My Big Ideas and some Garden Variety papers by Cosmo Cricket.

Some of the images and sentiments on the Coasters are put together from different sets so let me see if I can piece it all together for you:

PJ, the bear and his cocktail are all from the A Beary Good Year set. The sentiments Skal and Prost were spelled using the Nightie alphabet set.

Sprinkle is from the Fun In The Sun set and the Tequila drinking Penguin is from the set Hola Tequila. Salud is from the (you'll never guess the name) Salud set. Poochie was a bit trickier: He is from the set Gobble It Up but his accessories are from the A Beary Good Year set. Cheers was spelled out using the Coolvetica alphabet set.
So that about wraps it up here for me. I hope you enjoyed your stop but wait...don't go anywhere yet - there's more to see and I can tell you you don't want to miss this!

Your next stop on the hop is the fabulous Susan!!!

Hope to see you back here tomorrow for some more "wood" action!! hehe

Professional Site is UP!!

Hi everyone,

well I'm not very web creating savvy so I am extra happy to be able to announce that I have somehow managed to create my own website. This website is for professional uses only so all the fun stuff will still be happening here on my blog but if you're interested in seeing how I'm doing with my studies that's where you can check it out.

(There is not a whole lot posted yet, just because I just started school but I'll be updated the site
regularly).

{Shabby Moments} Viva La Verve Wk 4

Did everybody have a great weekend? I hope you did!! Mine was a ton of fun!!

There was hanging out with my friend Stacy at the Farmer's Market, wedding dress shopping with my friend Diana (I'm one of her bridesmaid), an amazing pentecost service and I got to see my friend and former co-worker Scott Grimes in Robin Hood (he's the redhead in case you're wondering who I'm talking about).

Oh and I spent my evening hours in front of the computer, trying to design and publish a more professional website for my artwork/school stuff but yeah...not as easy as you may think so that's still in the works. My friend knows someone who designs websites on the side so I'm hoping he'll be able to design one for me.

But let's talk cards:

This last week in May Amber at Viva La Verve is challenging us to find something in our own craft room that inspired us and use her sketch of course.
I just recently got the deco fan border punch set by Martha Stewart and this set served as my inspiration for this card here.

I had so much fun with my last vintage shabby chic card that I wanted to make another one. You know me I always like to try out different looks and styles so I kept this card very light, monochromatic and added lots of glitz and shimmer to it all.

The sentiment is from one of my favorite Verve sets, Beautiful You. I spritzed the sentiment panel and the flower with some silver Smooch Spritz and sponged the edges, using my nestie as mask with Antique Linen by Distress Ranger Ink.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
Have a GREAT monday!!

{Got Pepto?} SFYTT

Hi guys! I hope you are ready for the weekend and a SUPER FUN sketch from Jen today.

hehe I really had waaaay too much fun with this sketch but you'll see that as soon as you scroll down. ;)

But first of here is the sketch:

Doesnt' that just scream come up with something fun and funky?

Anyway - I had just recently placed another order with Alma at The Cat's Pajamas and you know how much I love her stamps...soo these cutie pies here are from the set Gobble It Up. Now as the name states it's very much a thanksgiving themed set but you can use it for so many other things too...silly things like my card here for example. :)

The numbers are from the Cat's Pajamas' set Nightie, which is my all-time favorite alphabet stamp set.

Ready to see what's underneath the numbers?

hehe - I know we've all been there so don't you try to deny it now. Everybody needs a little Pepto every now and then. lol
(The little Pepto-Bismol bottle was just a quick little drawing I made and colored in.)

I hope I was able to bring a little smile to your face!

{Cherry Smoothie anyone?} Vive La Verve Wk3

Happy Friday, everyone!! Today's going to be one heck of a busy day for me: I'm about to go to school to check out a DVD on Matte Painting and then when I get home I have to do a little bit more stamping and a whole lot of cleaning. My little stamp corner looks like a bomb went off and spilled over into my living room. Sigh...I guess I just have to live with the fact that I'm a messy stamper.

Oh well...what can you do?!

So I finally got around to making last week's Viva La Verve card yesterday and I gotta say I'm not a 100% in love with how it turned out but it is growing on me. Check back in with me tomorrow and I may be in love...we'll see. :)

I picked the beautiful cherry quilt that you can see hanging on the back wall as inspiration for my card.

The papers I used are from the October Afternoon collection Cherry Hill.

The stamps and the sentiment are all from the Taylored Expressions set Chillax, such a fun and cheerful set. I colored the blender and the smoothie in with Copics and added some Stickles Glitter.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

{Getting Lucky} SSDS

Happy Thursday you guys!! It's been quite the busy stamping day for me today so guess what...I'm back with my second post today.

I'm in need of a funny male birthday card because our Soundmixer on ER (the TV show) is turning 40 and the gang meaning my old ER crew is planning a big surprise bash for him. He is a great guy with a great sense of humor so I was extra excited when I got my first order of Skipping Stones Stamps in the mail yesterday.
They have some outrageously funny stamps!!! And I used one of 'em here!!! :)

Also my fabulous and
famous SFYTT sister Jen del Muro is guest designing for them and she came up with this fun sketch a few weeks ago and I thought why not?!
The only thing I changed was I traded the oval for the square - I'm so excited I finally have some oval Nesties I try to get good use out of 'em. :)

Since this is supposed to a cool manly card I tried to keep it a bit more on the simpler side. I did minimal stitching, some distressing to add some cool-ness to it and added some screw brads.

Thanks so much for stopping by!! I still have a few more cards to make!! :)

{Hugs 4 Megan} FFF & Saturday Sketches

Hi guys!! You're probably getting a bit tired of seeing me combine challenges but what can I say?! It just makes sense when you want to play along in multiple challenges but only have so much time on your hand. I'm sure you know exactly what I'm talking about.

On that note let me tell you which challenges I combined this time: I took this week's Farm Fresh Friday Color Challenge and put it on this weeks Saturday Sketch Challenge all from the Greeting Farm.

Their cute images have a special place in my heart although the TGF gallery has quite the opposite effect on me. Argh! Some of my photos just won't show! It's infuriating!

But that's a whole 'nother can of worms - let's talk some details shall we?
The challenge was to use the colors cream, pink and red and you know what that screams right? Yup you got it - Valentine's day!
And I still had some left over Valentine's day paper! Handy!!! So this paper here is from an old Martha Stewart Valentine's Day Paper Pack I had gotten at Michael's back in February.

Who's the cutie on my card? Meet Miss Wild Sprout Megan. She is one of my all-time favorite WS. It's probably because Miss Sassiness kinda reminds me of me. hehe
I colored her in with Copics, cut out her head and propped it up a little and of course I just had to add some Stickles Glitter to her top and bow.

I also got to use my new Martha Stewart border punch. I've
been eyeing this punch for a while now but had to wait until my coupon was valid. I am a poor student after all!

Thanks sooo much for coming by!
take care and see ya next time!!

{a Pottery Barn Beach Bum} TCP Tues110 & TESC113

Hi guys!!! Are you noticing something?
Yup you got it - this card here was the inspiration for my recent Blog make-over. I just felt like this color combo was so me I couldn't help myself. I hope you like it. :)

I don't know how you're doing (I hope your answer is well) but I'm
doing pretty good although life is really funny sometimes - just when you think you've got your next step in life figured out life throws you for a loop and you're back to square one!

You know what I mean?!
I was just getting used to going back to school, I had even figured out what classes I wanted to take next term and now I'm starting to hear from my former employers again. Now I haven't been offered a job yet so it could still go both ways but I just think it's funny that when I was just sitting around at home being unemployed I heard nothing for months and now that I'm going to school - my phone rings again.
It's the exact same thing with dates - when you're single you can't get one but when you have a boyfriend, you can't get away from 'em.
Weird how that always works out! Oh well - I'll keep you posted with what happens next with the whole school vs job thing! :)

One thing is for sure though and that is that I have less and less time nowadays which makes me try and combine challenges wherever I can so this week I combined our TCP Tuesday challenge with a Taylored Expressions sketch challenge.

Toni is our mostess hostess and she brought us this yummy inspiration photo straight out of a Pottery Barn catalog. Isn't it just to die for? I actually couldn't believe it when I saw this because all my recent cards (most of them are for later posts so stay tuned for those) have been using this exact same color scheme. Oh well...what's one more right? :)

So my card features fun Beach Poochie from the TCP set By the Sea. He's just chillin' reading a book, sipping on his lemonade. I'm hoping to be doing the same in a month at my parent's home in Florida. :) The sentiment is also from that same set.

The wooden patterned paper is from the Cosmo Cricket line Snorkel and the beige polka-dot paper is from a paper pack that caught my eye at Michael's last week. It's called Songbird and it's made my DCWV. You'll be seeing lots more cards using some of this paper - it's soo fun!!!

My favorite ribbon (also from the Cat's Pajamas), some fun buttons and a wavy border complete my card today. :)

Ready to see more? Why don't you head over and check out what the rest of the Cat Pack has come up with!!

Oh and did I mention that you can win $25 in Cat Cash and earn the title Swanky Stamper of the month if you play with us???????!
All it takes is one FAB card!!! Click HERE for all the deets!

Thank you soo much for spending a little time with me here on my blog.

'til next time,

{Balloon Greetings} Mojo139 & Ready, Set, Stamp

Quick! Somebody up the weather's meds!! It's out of control again!!
Yesterday it was shorts and tank top weather here in "sunny" California and today it's cold and grey and foggy!! WTH is goin' on?! It may have even rained a little or is about to again. Yuk yuk yuk!

But oh well...at least this way I don't feel so bad that I'm just hanging out, stamping and in my PJs. :)

And I've got another Two-fer for ya! This time I combined this week's Mojo Monday sketch with the Ready, Set, Stamp challenge by Verve, which called for the Up, Up and Away set. I adore this stamp set!!! It's soo cute and whimsical!!

My balloon is colored in using my Copic Markers and propped up on Pop-Up Dots as are the clouds. Since it's all gloomy outside I decided to add some glittery sparkle to my card and put some Stickles Glitter on my balloon.
The sentiment was a single stamp that Julee was so kind to send with my last order.

All my patterned papers are by DCWV: the wood grain paper is from the Tahiti Beach Stack and the cloud paper is from the Songbird collection, one of my recent favorite finds at Michael's.

Thank you for stopping by on this dreary Monday! I hope the weather is much better wherever you are!! :)

{Vintage Blossom} SFYTT

It's Saturday already...again...my where does the time go?! Before you know it we'll be making christmas cards. lol

But while we still can - let's enjoy some spring colors. :)

Saturday also means it's time for Jen to bring us another great sketch over at Sketch For You To Try!!!

And what a perfect timing: I just got my order of oval Nesties!! Yay!!

My card here is my twisty interpretation of shabby chic.
Everything on this card is just a little off -
the sentiment and the flap on my oval nestie (the flap was inspired by the fabulous Joanne btw) are both a bit tilted, the stitching is just a bit crooked here and there and the jute twine has a little wave to it.
I also added some rhinestone flourishes and made my own 3D flower embellishment out of two stamped flowers, a button and some jute twine.

My stamped sentiment and the flower are both from my two all-time favorite Verve sets: Beautiful You and Wishful Elegance. The patterned papers I used are all from the Fly a Kite collection by October Afternoon.

{Awesome w/ Sparkles} another SFYTT

Hi guys!!! I had so much fun with this weeks SFYTT sketch that I decided to make another card with my brand new Verve stamps.

This card here was very inspired by the amazing Amy Sheffer! I just love how Amy layers Kraft on Kraft all the time. It's such a fun and classy look I just had to try it myself.

I also played with a new product...well it's not new really, it's just new to me. Liquid Pearls!
They were so fun to use it was hard to stop. lol

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Putt Putt, the dragon

**a lil Copyright Reminder: All content (including text, photographs, drawings and design work of any kind) is © Sonja Christoph.**

Hi everyone!!
I don't have a card for you today but instead I have something I'm VERY excited about.

Meet Putt Putt, my little dragon.
He was my homework for my Visual Communications class this week. We had to design a character that displays an emotion and is made up entirely out of primitive shapes.

I'm so excited about Putt Putt because this is my very first character design ever and honestly I never thought, not in a million years that I could ever come up with a character like this from scratch. I'm used to drawing from something like a photograph or a model, not actually design or create something from nothing.

I'm still working out the lighting and the shading but all in all I think he's just adorable and I'm kinda beside myself. lol

Thank you for indulging me :)

{Dogs vs Cats} TCP TUES109

a happy TCP Tuesday to you all!! I really hope you can find some stamping time this week because you don't want to miss out on this fun sketch and you don't want to miss out on the chance of winning $25 in Cat Cash and be crowned the months' Swankiest Stamper!!!

Leigh is our hostess with the mostess this week and she's challenging us to make a card from this fun round sketch.

I laughed so hard when I first read this sentiment. It's so true, isn't it? I just love it!!
The sentiment and Sprinkle, the cat are both from the set It's a Mod, Mod World by the Cat's Pajamas. It's a great set to have because you get a lot of elements to play with and create your own scene
with. I used a Copic Marker around the letters of my sentiment to create this sort of drop shadow effect and I used Liquid Pearls on Sprinkle's collar.

The papers I used are from the Boyfriend collection by Cosmo Cricket and from the Quite Contrary line by My Mind's Eye. I also used some cork...I know I know I can't seem to get enough of it. I'm blaming Amy ;)

A fun little detail: I used a mini brad as push pin for the corkboard. :)

Thanks for peeking in...oh and make sure you upload your creations to Alma's Blog!! Want some more inspiration? Check out what the rest of the Cat Pack has come up with!!

Happy Stamping!!

{Shooter Baby} Mojo138 & Monday Mania

So I have a question for you: I've noticed that some of my cards that I'm maybe not soo sure about have been getting a lot of feedback and on the other hand some of my cards that I really really love, haven't. Does that happen to you too? Or is it just me? lol
Oh well...as long as the card can bring a smile to someone's face I say mission accomplished, right? :)

So time is becoming more and more sparse so I combined this week's Mojo Monday sketch challenge with this week's Monday Mania challenge. Gotta love a two-fer!!

This week's Mojo sketch is a definite Sketchbook Keeper. I just love those three strips on the right there.
This week's Monday Mania challenge over at Club Anya is presented to us by Crafty Jenn and she's challenging us to Pierce it! Punch it! Piece it! Sounds like good times right?

So I got
busy with my card here: I featured the cute Cheeky Shooter from the Greeting Farm. I love love love their retro, vintage-y pin-up look. I colored her in with Copic Markers, added some small Rhinestones to her belt and scarf and paper pieced her boots.

The papers I used are from the East Meets West collection by Moxxie. I did some heavy distressing to the edges of the paper and the cork panel with my Cuttlebug scissors and I sponged some Vintage Photo ink all around the edges.

I used Kraft Thread to go with my card and did some partial double line stitching on the main background panel and some zig zag stitching on the smaller panel behind Cheeky Shooter. I wanted the stitching to add to this messy and sort of unfinished look to it so you'll notice they are neither perfectly straight nor completely off-kilter and there are also some small pieces of thread sticking out at various places.

A piece of Jute Twine, some brads and paper piercing to the main background panel and the small hanging paper strips finish the card.

Thank you so very much for taking the time and stopping by! I love having you over!! :)

{Fun In The Sun} Viva La Verve Wk 2

Hi guys - did you have a great Mother's Day? I know I did even though I wasn't with my mom. (My parents live in Florida.) We have a very special tradition at my church: on Mother's day all the Mom's get to take the day off meaning the men and the kids are singing in the choir, the men prepare lunch, wash our cars and even prepare a little craft table for us. Isn't that a neat tradition?
In turn we always come up with something fun for the men on Father's Day as well. Last year we organized a big Whiffle Ball Game a la Dodger Style with Hot Dogs, Popcorn, Ice Cream and Sodas. It was a ton of fun! I think this year we're playing with the idea of doing a father's day carnival with a massage booth, a hugging booth, perhaps even a name that beer booth,. :) But we'll see...

Anyway enough about that...it's Monday and I just now got around to making my Viva La Verve card. Every Friday Amber presents us with a sketch challenge and three inspirational photos we can pick from.

I love these colors in that craft room, aren't they just fun and spring-like?
I also loove the new release stamps from Verve so I jumped at the chance of using them to create this cute scene.
All the stamps I used for this card are from the Verve set Relax. I added some Stickles Glitter to the palm trees. To get this Sand look I took a piece of cream CS, tore it, sponged it with Antique Linen and Soft Suede ink and applied Distress Stickles on top of it all. Voila - I present to you the beach! :)

Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a great day!!
