Waste Not, Want Not !

I'm guessing my post title caught your attention then !  Thanks for dropping by today to check my latest project.

I do so like it when I can use up even the tiniest scrap of my stash and today's card does just that.  Whilst creating yesterday's card using the Dees Distinctively Die sentiment die it left me with the outline on the scrap of cardstock I'd used, perfect to use on another card and much better than having it end up in the bin.  I like how the 'Merry' is set at a jaunty angle - not done deliberately as when I cut it I was only concerned with creating the diecut words, just one of those creative 'happy accidents' I guess !

I used a different Cuttlebug embossing folder than on yesterday's card to create the background for this one. then attached the sentiment panel with Pin Flair glue to lift it up a little.  I then tied some festive red and white striped twine around the top and finished with a bow.  I've also entered this card in the current Rudolph Challenge on Craftbubble II.

A really quick and simple design, but I think it looks classic and neat and meets my requirement for flat cards to mail out.  I may well make a few more in this design to help swell my Christmas card stock and (hopefully) be well prepared a little earlier this year !

Thanks for visiting today, have a great week.

Merry Christmas

Happy Sunday Bloggers, hope you're having a great day.  Today I shall be heading along the M6 and M5 bringing my Dad home to spend a couple of weeks with me - which makes me very happy !  He'll be celebrating his 87th Birthday while he's with me too, which is even better.

My project today is a card I created to enter for the Rudolph Day challenge on Craftbubble II which has the theme of 'embossing' this month.

I used a Christmas themed embossing folder to emboss the base card, adding Stardust Stickles on all the snowflakes.  I used a Dees Distinctively Dies sentiment die to cut out the Merry Christmas from a scrap of SU! Cherry Cobbler cardstock.  The holly sprigs were cut using a Marianne's die and the berries were created with a red Waco Pearlmaker pen.

That's another Christmas card in my stock, although I still have loads to make in the next couple of weeks.  I'm trying to keep the bulk of my cards fairly flat in order to keep postage costs down a little for those I have to mail to friends and family in far away places.

Have a happy and creative day, whatever your plans are.

Didn't we have a luverly time the day we went to Snazzy's !

Happy Sunday morning Folks, hope you're having a great day, weather isn't looking promising here so far - dull, windy and a tad chilly - hope it's better wherever you are in the world.

I had a wonderful start to the weekend, travelled by train to Bristol to my crafting pal Kathy's on Friday afternoon.  We spent the rest of the afternoon grappling with my newly acquired We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board !  We had a bundle of laughs and by the end of the afternoon I had no mascara left, but we still couldn't get my new toy to produce what we wanted.  Seems to me that some of the measurements on their charts given to help you create the size of envelope you want are just not correct.  Either that or it's a bad case of 'Operator Error' so I'll have to investigate further before consigning the said item of equipment to the part of my craftroom designated to store all the 'must haves' which never lived up to their hype !

On Saturday morning we set off for Swindon to meet up with two more crafting pals (Lauren and Debs) for a workshop at Snazzy's craft store.   As we all live so far away from each other and for the most part are in touch only online, it was a rare treat for us to get together for a little crafting sesh.  We met up at the outlet mall, deciding on an early bite of lunch before setting off to Snazzy's.  We just happened to go past the Cadbury outlet, so we wandered in, only to check what was in there of course !  Each of us exited with a bag of goodies with which to surprise our loved-ones when we returned home - and to sustain us on our individual journeys home ..... !

The owner of Snazzy's - Val - said they would provide all necessary materials and equipment and I actually went there without a single item from my own stash - not even my fave pair of scissors or beloved guillotine.... scary !  I need not have worried as they really DID supply all that we needed for our projects.

Here's the project I created

All of us proudly showing off our creations

It always amazes me how, despite working from the same example each of our finished creations turned out slightly differently as we approached each step of the project in our own style - that's why art and crafting are so AMAZING.

I'm afraid I just HAD to bring home these yummy new JOFY stamps by Jo Firth-Young
from Paper Artsy - well it would have been positively rude not to wouldn't it ? !

There are a couple more JOFYs that I NEED, but I was limited by the amount of cash I had on me as Snazzy's don't take credit cards for payment - maybe it was just as well as I could have run amok amongst the fabberooney stash in the shop and we may have been in danger of not being able to eat for a month !

I can't wait to get these babies inked now so you may see them appearing in projects on here very soon.

Thank you so much Kathy for organising us and Snazzys facilitating such a grand day out for us.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday, whatever you have planned.

Blue Christmas

One more Christmas card to add to my stock with this one, although my stock isn't growing anywhere near fast enough if I'm going to be ready in time !

I used the theme from last week's challenge on the Craftbubble Craft Mad and Loving It group which was 'Blue Christmas'.

The image is by Crafty Individuals and I stamped it using Memento Paris Dusk ink.  The poinsettias and fronds were cut using Marianne's dies and the leaves with a Martha Stewart holly punch.  The sentiment is from Lili of the Valley.  The background paper was a scrap I found in my stash and I added touches of Stardust Stickles to stars, moon and around the sentiment layer.

Gold & Black Candle

Hope you're enjoying a lovely relaxed Sunday and not snowed in or iced up too badly!  I think the priority for most of us today is to keep warm.

The weekly sketchie challenge over on Craftbubble's Craft Mad & Loving It group is to use only one colour plus black on our projects and to follow this week's sketch (created by my great crafting pal Kathy) for the layout.

For my entry I decided to use the elegant and rich combination of black and gold.  My base card has a delicate swirly pattern in pale gold on it and the lovely rich gold card was in my stash.

I stamped this fabulous Penny Black candle image on to black cardstock with Versamark ink and then heat embossed it with sparkly gold embossing powder.  Using a set of deckle edge nesties I cut out the image layer and a larger layer from the gold card.  I moved a couple of the sketch elements around a little to balance my image and added the 'merry christmas' sentiment created with a Cuddly Buddly stamp.  The flowers were created with Nellie Snellen punch & emboss sets in two sizes, layered up and a faux gold pearl added to the centres using a Waco Pearlmaker pen - Simples!

I like the finished card so much I shall probably make a couple more.

Thanks so much for visiting today and I hope you've enjoyed today's card.

Keep on Crafting !

Craftbubble Bubbles

Today I thought I'd share with you the card I made as an entry for last week's sketchie challenge from the 'Craft Mad and Loving It' forum on Craftbubble.  We were asked to make an easel card and the twist was 'Bubbles'. There was a sketch to follow but I realised after finishing my card that I had completely ignored it!!  On second look, my card could almost stretch to match the sketch and after all it does have lots of bubbles on it, so I hope the DT will forgive me!

This cute little House Mouse image had been sitting around in my stamped images box for a while and he just fitted right in to this challenge.  I used nestabilties dies to cut out the shaped layers, added lots of the clear half beads I have in my stash and a strip of white card punched with an EK Success border punch to add yet more bubbles.  The pale blue pearl layer was embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder and is actually a snow storm but I think it looks like it could be bubbles.  I created the sentiment on my computer and coloured the image with Promarkers, finally adding clear Spica Glitter pen with Glossy Accents over the top to the bubbles for extra sparkle and dimension.

Thanks for stopping by, I'll have another project to share with you tomorrow and as it's tuesday, there'll be a Queen Kat Designs blog hop going on if you'd like to join in with us.

That's it from me for today - Happy Crafting!
