thinking of you

Howdy folks!  I hope everyone had a fantastic day.

Several weeks ago I heard some bad news from one of my stamping buddies.  She has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Now this lady, I met through stamping.  She is also a demo.  One of the best things about this hobby is the wonderful people you meet.  And she is definitely one of the best people I know.

She is very generous with her time.  She is the SU! lead at the Ronald McDonald House.  She is always adopting orphaned demos.  She has always been there when I needed advice or butt kicking.  She has been an inspiration to me in many ways.

One of the best ways we cardmakers show love for one another is, to send a card.  So a few weeks ago I made one for her.

A Word for You and Sincere Salutations.  Crumb cake, whisper white, lucky limeade and vellum cardstock.  Black Stazon ink.  Polka dot embossing folder, big shot, fun flowers die, neutrals buttons, linen thread, 3/4" cirle punch, scallop square duo die and dimensionals.

While you got the supplies out, you might as well make a couple right?  Thats what I was thinking anyway.

These are 4.25 x 4.25.  I used the bigger of the scallop squares from the die.  I really like these.  I know its alot of white space but I wanted them to be kind of simple.

I embossed the vellum layer to mimic the card base.  It makes me think of a gardenia.  The leaves are just the biggest flower in the die that I cut up.

Alrighty then, the lesson to learn here is; don't wait for bad news to send someone a card.  Let people know how you feel.

Love them?  Let them know.

Sorry about something?  Let them know.

Thankful?  Let them know.

Miss them?  Let them know.

Things are alot easier to say in a letter/card.  And if its in a pretty handmade card, then all the better.

So go ahead, make and SEND someone a card.  I dare you to make someone's day.

Blessings, b.

card kits

Hey everyone.  I hope you all had a nice weekend.  I felt like I was only home to sleep and cook.  But today, today I'm home because I have a furlough day.  What's a furlough day you ask?  Well, its one of 4 days this school year where we don't go to work and don't get paid......to save our jobs.  The California state budget is messed up!  We had the choice of taking 4 furlough days a year for the next 3 years or take the chance of being laid off.

We took the furlough days.

In other news, we had our first band competition this weekend.  Pretend there is a picture here:

Yeah, I forgot my camera.  Its his senior year and I wanted to document every detail and I forgot my camera.  Yep, I do have a camera on my phone but I still haven't figured out how to get pics from my phone to the computer.  So far Verizon is no help.  If anyone out there is phone/computer smart, I could use a little help.

Anyway, the competition was great.  I love band competitions.  I'm going to miss them.  Just like I miss kid baseball.  {big sigh}

I promised card #5 and here ya go:

A Word for You set.  River rock, early espresso, cherry cobbler and very vanilla cardstock.  Early espresso ink.  Neutrals patterns DSP, scallop border punch, Tombow Multi glue and dimensionals.

This is another 3.5 x 5 card.  I totally copied this design off of Danielle Daws (you can google her).  Its just so simple and elegant.  I love this pattern on the DSP.  It looks like old wallpaper.

We made a wrinkly rose.  See how to do that here.  The ladies really got a kick out of it.  It looks so complicated but its not.

Okay, here are the details for the card kits.  There are 2 ways you can get one:

Alrighty then, it feels weird to be posting in the middle of the day.  But I never seem to get the computer anymore at night.  I'm going to try and be a much better blogger this week.

flower for you

Howdy!

I wanted to show you another card that we did last week.  Super easy.

Favorite Thoughts ( Summer Mini).  Whisper white, melon mambo, old olive and brocade blue (retiring).  Black Stazon and brocade blue inks.  White taffeta ribbon, scallop edge punch, little leaves die, 2 step bird punch, stampamajig, dimensionals and sponges.

I like this card because you can use it for any occasion.  Thank you, birthday, thinking of you, sorry, etc........

I love this stamp set out of the Summer Mini catalog.  It has 4 sayings and I love them all!  The sentiment looks a little crooked here but its just my fabulous picture taking.  Its really straight.

The flower is really easy to do.  You punch out 3 wings of the 2 step bird punch and glue together.   Want to see my high tech cloud stencil?

Cool huh?   Just punch out a scallop circle and a scallop oval and cut in half and glue together.   Use uneven pressure as you sponge the color on.  Moving the template across and down as you go.  Instant clouds!

I have 2 more projects to show you with tutorials.  Look for one tomorrow.  Nothing too hard.  If I can do it, you can do it.

Thanks for stopping by and checking up on me.

Blessings, b.

lots of cards

Howdy peeps!

I know, the blog has been quiet over the weekend and with that last post on Friday, I'm sure you all thought I was getting jiggy with some scrapping.  Yeah.......no.

I've still got this cold thing and its getting worse again!  I just can't seem to kick it.  So this will be a shorty post because the Nyquil is calling.

I've had an idea in my head for a few weeks now.  I got that new Welcome Neighbor DSP pack from the SAB catty.  It comes in a 6x6 size and I thought it could make some really cute quick cards.  So I sat down this weekend and whipped some out.  I just kept going and going.  They are so easy and cute!

Sincere Salutations set.  Crushed curry, bermuda bay, kraft, old olive and whisper white cardstock.  Soft suede ink.  Crushed curry polka dot ribbon, bermuda bay polka dot ribbon, old olive wide grosgrain, Welcome Neighbor DSP (SAB) scallop trim border punch, (SAB) and dimensionals.

I did them all the same.  Just switched out the colors to match the DSP.  I did them all 4 1/4" square.  No special envelope needed.  I like that.

sorry.....crooked picture.

I think I made around 15 of them.  I'm in the process of making a gift box for them to go into.  I would show you now but I hear the Nyquil, "Beth, it is time to go nitey nite."  Can you hear it?  Anyhow, I'll show you the box tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a good night and sleep tight.

Blessings, b.
