For Baby Aruna

Aruna Elizabeth Kalyani Ramcharan was born several weeks ago in Holland to my friend's daughter April & husband Toshi - she has an older sister Indra. Here is the definition of the baby's name - it's so pretty: Aruna (Ah-roo-nah) means morning sun rising, which they used as a variation of April’s middle name—Dawn. Kalyani (kah-lee-ah-nee) means blissful and/or fortunate. I found this purple stuffed hippo at Target $ spot the other day...cute, huh? Knew I could make a cute matching card using my Just so Hippy set--then, Anna Wight Sweet Miss Daisy of Sassy & Sweet Notes posted a cute card sketch challenge that was PERFECT for my idea. I used a Baby set from Wordsworth or the square background pieces stamped with a onesie, baby shoes, hooray it's a girl and safety pins. The sentiment in the sign is SU! Fancy Flexible Phrases.

if you haven't checked out Melanie's Hippy Contest - you have until this Friday to win a set of stamped from her next release. Pin It

So Lucky Valentine

I love these stick people by Clearly Wordsworth called Love Collection! I paired them with my Loves Me Designer Paper, how fitting, huh?? I love my Regal Rose Wide Grosgrain Ribbon by SU! (not sure why it took me so long to buy it!) I used my classic rectangle nestability for a 'classic' look on the focal image. Pin It

Best Wishes Sketch

A co-worker is headed to Vegas today for her son Dustin's wedding and I know she is excited! She says his new wife and her 7 yr-old girl are so sweet (I've heard many stories and have seen pictures). So I made her this card to take to them. She said their colors are peach and chocolate brown. This is not the card I envisioned making but I'm sure glad it turned out so nicely. It was inspired by this card from Shannan Tuebner that I fell in love with the first time I saw it so I knew I was going to use the sketch by Jen Del Muro.

That's one thing I love about Google Reader (it allows you to STAR the projects you want to refer back to later) but it takes me a while to remember where a particular one is as I have over 140 in there). But it's great for those times that I don't have time but can go back later (this one was from Dec 1). The stick people are by Wordsworth and the bg of blush card base Spiral Bouquet by Papertrey.

Engagement Congratulations

I was so delighted to get a text message on Sunday evening from my co-worker Jamie (she had a feeling her boyfriend may propose) and I asked her before we left for the weekend to call me as I didn't want to wait until today find out! So on Sunday night her text said, 'guess who's engaged?' she was so excited! Her ring is gorgeous, white gold with a princess cut square diamond in the center with diamond chips in the band part. I'm so happy for her & Josh that I made her this card & gave it to her today.

Here's to True Love (compliments of Debbie O.)

When I first saw Wordsworth's Stick People, I thought how cute! Of course, it was because of Debbie Olson that I fell for them! Debbie has such an awesome style; posts every day without fail to her blog Thinking Inking, has won so many Stampin' Up! Contests including the 2007 Artisan Award, belongs to several Design Teams and never ceases to amaze me with her creations!

Here is the first time I saw a card from the True Love set, which is what I used on my card. One day when I was out shopping at Hobby Lobby, I went to the clearance section-lo and behold, they had True Love, which retailed for $13.99 for $5.03!! Can you believe my luck? I had a hard time not buying ALL of them (I have learned a little restraint over the years, believe it or not) but I knew I wanted this one for sure. I also used my Spellbinder's Nestabilities for the first time (I am waiting on getting the rest of the supplies in order to emboss correctly, but there is a slight embossed line with just the cutting). I can't believe I waited all this time to get my Basic Grey! Well, last month I got the pad & ribbon but forgot the cardstock (duh moment) it is so gorgeous!!!

Thanks, Debbie - you're such a great enabler!!! p.s. I know there is a Thomas Kincade stamp purchase on the horizon for me too, because what she has done with those stamps...well, you will have to check out her blog to feast your eyes on the beauty she's captured in those images. Pin It

Hanna Decks the Fireplace

I nearly forgot I got a set by Rubbersoul Wordsworth called Classic Christmas at the clearance section in Hobby Lobby a month ago (for, get this $5.03!) It retails for $14.95!! Last night after trying to figure out what else I could do with Hanna (I gave up until I saw what Michelle Wooderson did with the saying and Hanna hanging stars, I knew I could do something else with her and then I saw the swag in the set (it has ornaments, I just didn't ink them so I could use my ornaments in Tis the Season set). No fireplace to put it on thought, so I drew one! What do you think? I wish I could capture the sakura glitter on the ornaments & the top of her boots, but I couldn't. It's just so pretty IRL. The berries in the swag are stickles. I used my Basic Grey Fruitcake paper, thought it went real well with my Not Quite Navy. Since I didn't have anymore room for a sentiment, I had to find one that would fit on the fireplace and Papertrey's Holiday Wishes fit the bill.

Happy Thanksgiving Y'all!
