April SFYTT–I Miss You

SFYTT Apr

Hi there!  If you’re looking for a Friday Night Sew In** post, I apologize, I was not able to participate this month!

This is my April sketch for you to try using my Pure Innocence set by My Favorite Things.  Can’t find the direct link to the set, so I’m not sure it’s still available.  The supplies are from an old Taylored Expression key ingredients kit (pattern paper is American Crafts Happy Go Lucky).  It also included the Thickers white fabric alphabet that I used for the hi and colored with a pink copic marker.  On the inside of the card it says, “The One Good Thing About Not Seeing You Is That I Can Write You Letters – I Miss You”.  I made this card to send to my niece Gabriella who will be celebrating her 6th birthday this coming Thursday!  It’s so hard to believe it!  I visited her for a week the first week of April for her Spring Break and have been gone for nearly 2 weeks and got an email from my sister she is still missing me and was still crying about it this week.  It just breaks my heart!  When I talked with her on Wednesday, she said “I miss you'” about 3 or 4 times!  Then after we got off the phone, she asked my sister, “Do you think Auntie Donna will write me a note?”  She had sent me some colored pictures telling me she missed me which made me cry!!  It’s so fun she is learning to write so I can start getting more letters from her!  I have all the pictures from our trip already printed and in the box she will get for her birthday, which includes a collage picture frame that I believe she will cherish!

I will leave you with a picture of us from my trip, this was taken with auntieone evening after I sewed a sundress for Gabriella and this Batman pillow for Joey which they both stuffed!  It was a family effort!  I only got 2 pictures with them (sad) but love this one because they’re both smiling and it was more impromptu!

**Sorry I don’t have anything to share for Friday Night Sew In which I had previously signed up for, this has been a busy week and I still have a long to do list and I have not sewn a thing in 2 1/2 weeks (since I was in California!) and I miss it a lot!  I am hoping to get something made by tomorrow though since I am suffering some withdrawal from it!  ha.  One thing on my to do list, which I am super excited about is working on a project picked up for publication in Stitch Magazine in the Winter issue!!  In fact, once I finished publishing this post, I MUST get back to working on my submittal document!  Then, I need to finish with preparing for the Gina K release which is on Thursday!!

Thanks for stopping by!  Hope you have a great weekend!!

MFTWSC15: Gabby’s Birthday card!

Here is the birthday card MFTWSC15I made for my niece for her 5th birthday which is next week!  I cannot believe how big she has gotten!  This is for this week’s sketch challenge at SCS!  This is my first time to use the Pure Innocence set Don’t Open Until.  I hope I get her card & gift in the mail before her birthday!  I used papers from the Little Girl collection of Echo Park and a cloud die from Taylored Expressions.

I am busy getting samples for Gina K’s release which is this Thursday at StampTV – hope you will join us for the release which will be 7:00-9:00 pm in the release forum.  Speaking of news – did you see Gina’s fun news today on her blog?  She is posting daily snippets of the new sets too, so you get a little preview of what’s to come!

Now I will leave you with a picture from our cruise; promise more to come!!  IMG_2497This was taken last Thursday when we were in Ocho Rios, Jamaica at Dolphin Cove.  We had such a fabulous time on our trip and it’s back to reality for us (insert sad face).  It was just gorgeous out there, can’t you see from the picture and you can tell how happy we were too.

I’ll see you again soon – thanks for stopping by!!

MFT sketch time!!

MFTSWC13

Hi everyone still out there reading my blog!!  I took another much needed break** from posting and I’m back to share this week’s MFT sketch!  I used my new Pure Innocence cutie Something Special Just For You.  This card is for my DMIL to give to our niece Gabby who will be turning 5 in 3 weeks!  I can hardly believe it!  We just talked to her a little bit ago, it had been too long since we had and I was missing hearing hers and her brother’s voices.  She cracked me up saying “Auntie Donna is creatable” when I told her I was making her birthday cards!   A few weeks ago my sister said that Gabby told her, “I can’t get over how talented Auntie Donna is” that really made me laugh out loud and smile!  I just love it!!

I used my new Key ingredient subscription papers are from the Stella & Rose Gertie Collection by My Mind's Eye.

PERSONAL STUFF: **Am I the only one still reeling from the affects of the time change??  I am struggling with getting to bed/sleep at my normal time because, well it’s not my normal time anymore!  So then I am super sleepy during the day and have no energy to get stuff done in the evenings!  So, my break had to do with that.  Oh and the fact that I have been sewing more clutch purses!  Will share more soon – sewing is addicting!  I guess it’s because I have an addictive personality.  Last weekend I went to a Geocaching event with John and some others and we hosted 2 couples spending the night Fri and Sat.  They all went out Sat & left Sun and I stayed here and sewed – it was a lot of fun!

MORE PERSONAL STUFF: Speaking of fun, it was our quarterly event at work today – only worked until 10:30 and then met at a bowling alley, had fajita lunch and bowled 3 games.  It was great – started off with a bang, a strike and it’s been at least 10 yrs since I’ve bowled.  I got another 2 frames later then I finished the game and subsequent games with a ton of gutter balls oh and one more strike!  I got tired fast but I still had a lot of fun.  Have I told you lately how much I love my job!!??

Thanks for stopping by – have a great weekend!!!

Beginning of Spring Wristlet & MFT sketch!!

flamingotoes wristlet
I have a confession to make; I am addicted to blurfing around crafty/sewing blogs and have been every chance I get for well over a month now!  I have been getting my inspired to return to another hobby of mine that, when stamping came along, I completely put aside and that is sewing! Over the past year I have done a few things here and there, but nothing serious until this weekend! I got my sewing machine out of the shed last week, had it serviced, purchased a few sewing necessities and am so excited to share this fun wristlet I made this weekend!  I found this great pattern from Bev at Flamingotoes it is what she calls an End of Summer Wristlet but I am calling it my Beginning of Spring Wristlet!  I am going to share this on her Think Pink Sunday party so she can see what SHE inspired me to make!!
ThinkPink_Button150
wristlet back
Here is a picture of the back of the wristlet in the natural cotton fabric.  I put a little butterfly charm on the zipper which I think adds a sweet touch to it.

wristlet inside
Here is a picture of the inside lining of the bag.  I just LOVED showing this little number off when we met some friends for dinner last night!  One of my friends was pretty impressed with it, as was John.  I have to admit, I was/am myself – this was my FIRST attempt at sewing a zipper and I think it turned out real nicely!  Oh and the lady in the fabric department was pretty impressed with my zipper work too (we went there to get more sewing supplies after dinner – because I want to make more!!)  The polka dot sections are for my driver’s license and credit card.  In this pouch I fit those, as well as a mini hand sanitizer, my lip gloss and my phone.  Thank you for the pattern/inspiration, Bev!!
Now for all my stamping friends who came here to see a card, of course I have one to share MFTWSC11with you!!  I just got my new MFT VIP kit in the mail – isn’t this flamenco Who’s that Girl so sexy with her frilly dress on?  It was SO fun to paper-piece!  She will be fun to use to make Cinco de Mayo cards to send to friends on May 5th!  I used the new Basic Grey Hello Luscious paper, which had these fun red, green and yellow patterns which are great bright traditional Mexican colors – ha!!  I also had an opportunity to use a crochet red flower I made a while back that’s been sitting on my desk!  It’s perfect with a button in the center!  I used this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch {MFTWSC11}, always fun!  I tweaked the sketch a bit to work with my supplies, but I love how it turned out!!
Hope you had a great weekend and your week is a fabulous one!!

The Best Days…

Are spent curled up with a good book!  Yes indeed!  I’m sure if MFTWSC10you are a book lover like me, you agree!!  This is my card for this week’s MFT sketch Wednesday (MFTWSC10).  I just loved this layout and since I have been reading more lately, I thought it would be fun to put my Well Read Who’s That Girl to some ink for it!  When you have a smaller area to work with, don’t be afraid to use just a portion of it to fit your card like I did here, I sliced off her feet at the ankles and part of the sofa is missing but it still works and looks pretty cute although now that I look at it, that sofa sure is BUSY!!  Ha.  I am reading The Help by Kathryn Stockett, it is real good!  In fact, when I get done publishing this post, I am going to read a little before I go to bed and I like to read during my lunch.  At our new office since it’s on the 2nd floor, there is a nice shaded balcony with comfy chairs to sit on so I really enjoy the escape for 30 minutes!  I used all supplies from the Key Ingredients subscription for my card.

Gina K Designs update: I wanted to remind you that the Gina K. March release party will be this Thursday from 7:00 – 9:00 pm CST at StampTV!  Hope to see you there!

I Miss You–MFT Weds. Stamp Club & personal update

MFTWSC9

Hi there whoever is still out there!  I am still here and no, I have not been having internet issues (thank God!) I have just been chilling; taking a little breather and I am back with a cutie Pure Innocence girl from My Favorite Things for their Wednesday stamp club sketch!  This is Making a List, I just love it since I am sending it to my niece Gabby and she loves to write & color, and it’s about time I send her a card just because!  I used all supplies from the Feb. key ingredients subscription by Taylored Expressions which have beautiful My Mind’s Eye Lush papers in it!

Personal Update: Speaking of Taylored Expressions, did you happen to see this post on Taylor’s blog last weekend?  That’s right, I made the difficult decision to step down from the Baker’s Dozen design team, which I have enjoyed all 2 1/2 years of serving on!  Since my office move further,  my commute time has increased up to 2 hours per day. I am very limited with my creative time, hence one of the reasons for the break.  I recently started listening to books on audio which makes the time not so bad at all!  But some days I am still beyond exhausted and have no energy to post or create especially when my priority is to my family & home first and I have an EARLY bedtime. It’s time now to focus on some of my other hobbies, including making things for our beautiful new home!  I will share more soon!

Good Books Build Character

MFTWSC7
HA!  Isn’t this little bookworm the cutest you’ve seen wearing big ‘ol square eyeglasses?!?  He is in the I {Heart} Books set.
This is my card for this week’s MFT sketch challenge MFTWSC7 which I always have fun playing with!  Did you know you can win up to $20 voucher for the MFT Store if your card is picked in the random drawing?!  $15 if you don’t use MFT stamps.  Of course, I play along because I want to show love for my MFT stamps!
I used my new Echo Park Little Girl collection pattern paper I got in the TE store, they are so fresh & fun just like the Little Boy papers!  Lately I have been in the reading mood (since I love to read!) I am reading Think Twice by Lisa Scottoline I got from the library.  The place I work is so cool - in an outdoor mall and there is a library just a few minutes walk away!  I also got an audio book to listen in the car during my commutes (makes the time go by faster!) and also a playaway to listen to a book while at work!  It's been so great!

So what are other hobbies are YOU enjoying right now other than stamping?  Are there any you've thought about doing but haven't gotten around to it?  If so, I encourage you - it's fun to have more than one hobby for me!

Thanks for stopping by today - I hope you have an awesome week!  Pin It

MFT Wednesday Stamp Club

MFTWSC5 020211

I am so glad I made time this weekend to play with this week’s sketch because I have missed the last few ones!  I really look forward to them since I love MFT stamps and their sketches are always fun!  I used Cupcake Flopsey and all supplies are from January’s key ingredients from Taylored Expressions.

MFTWSC5 bunny close up

I had fun grabbing my stickles,  liquid pearls and smooch to bring the cupcake and flopsey to life – here is a close up.  Brings such a fun finishing touch to your creations in my opinion, which is why I love to use them!

Thanks for stopping by today!

MFT Stamp club sketch–Love

MFTWSC2 011211

Hi there!  It’s so good to have internet access back at home, we were out almost a week!  You don’t realize how much you miss something until it’s gone for sure huh?  Although I could have used that time to stamp my heart out, I really didn’t.  But, I do have a card using this week’s MFT Wednesday stamp club sketch (MFTWSC2) it is a fun one!  So, now I have  a card for my sweet niece Gabby for Valentine’s Day!  I used the cutie Pure Innocence girl Happy Mail, because I know my niece LOVES to get cards in the mail from her Auntie Donna!  All the supplies I used on this card are in the TE Valentine’s Project Pantry kit.

I just realized, after uploading my card I didn’t put the 3 elements on the right of the image, maybe I will put some candy dots before I mail it, but sorry I don’t have time to put them on and e-take a picture!  We are headed to a wine tasting/educational class with our friends James & Stephanie.  Maybe I will take a picture or 2 and report back about how it was!

Thanks for stopping by – hope you have a great weekend!

MFT Fab Friend!!

Mft some moments

I am so honored today to be featured on the MFT Blog as their Fab Friend!  I was so excited to have finally met Kim 11 months ago at CHA in Anaheim, she is so nice!  I have been a fan of MFT for about 2 1/2 years now, and continue to adore their stuff!  I would love it if you would go check it out!

So in honor of this, I made a scrapbook page to send to my niece (*to go along with what I am sharing on the MFT blog*).  This picture was taken last month during their visit to Texas one night.  After we got back from the zoo and running around and having dinner, Gabby & Joey changed into their pajamas and brought out ALL the books they travelled with for me to read them!  As you can see, Gabby was paying full attention to my reading and Joey, well he wanted to ‘read’ all on his (aka look at all the pictures!) Shortly after I read about 5 books and Joey left to do something else, Gabby laid out across my legs and fell asleep.  I just wished this moment lasted forever-sniff.  That’s why I chose this sentiment for my pages – it brought tears to my eyes since I miss them so much and wish I was there to read to them every night!

Thanks for stopping by today and sharing in my fun news!!

Hope you have a great week!!  Thanks for stopping by!

It’s in the bag – Have a Cool Yule

its in the bag

I made some time to stamp for fun this weekend so I played in the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club challenge {It’s in the bag!} again.  This was my 2nd week in a row to play.  This challenge was to decorate a bag or box so I made a 2,4,6,8 box which is SO easy & fun to do.  I brought out my cute Cool Yule set – I just adore this polar bear.  I also used supplies from my Snow Day Project Pantry which I also adore!

gabby dance recital 10

Here is a picture of my sweet 4 1/2 yr old niece Gabriella at her dance recital she had yesterday!  I’m sad I couldn’t be there to watch her this year, but her Auntie Misti snuck a picture for me & posted it on Facebook today!  Isn’t she precious?  EEEEKS!  I can’t wait to see her, her little brother, her mommy & her daddy in just 11 days!  We are going to have SO much fun!!!  We’re in the midst of planning all the fun right now.  She wants to make cupcakes, go see ‘dinosaurs’ and do ‘crafts’ (a girl after my own heart!)   Promise to share pics after all our fun as soon as I recuperate from the little ‘vacation’ ha!!

Thanks for stopping by – hope you have a great week!

Let’s Cuddle Up!

MFT challenge 101710

Here’s a card I made using this week’s MFT challenge in the forum on SCS!  It is All about the Boys! - make a masculine-themed card!  I grabbed my Cuddle Up Carter set (looks to be out of stock though) and it was the first time I got it inky (felt good!)

I used some Basic Grey Oliver papers (perfect for masculine theme!) and Jen’s sketch for you to try from yesterday (always awesome!).  I made this card to send to my nephew Joey because in less than 3 weeks from now he is going to visit with his big sister Gabby, their mommy & daddy!  I am SO EXCITED about it!  They will be our first house guests!!  I can’t wait for them to see the house in person!

Have had another full weekend but the highlight of it so far was 69836_1304925562416_1808846684_598007_7586674_nbringing our Shelby back home (she was hanging out for more than 2 weeks at her Nana’s house because she was having a difficult time with the concrete floor & getting her the right dog boots to wear so she could get around).  It broke my heart to drop her off there and we ‘think’ we have the solution but these boots seem to be a little too big.  I hate that she looks so sad but we know it’s for the best and it’s what we have to do.  When she hangs out outside, we can take them off.

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you have an awesome week!

SC295: Well Read who’s that girl?

SC295

Did you see the MFT VIP who’s that girl ‘Well Read"’? I actually fell in love with it last week and lifted my 2-month long spending freeze until we move (just temporarily) so I could buy it!  It’s not even released to the general public yet, that’s what’s so cool about it too!  I got a big ‘ol package of goodies today so I had to play!  It had the set, a mini uppercase Wendy alphabet, mini brads, 5 different pretty ribbons, a basics white Basic Grey paper pad and the cool border Die-Namics that is not even released yet that I used for my border on the sketch!!

I used today’s SCS sketch 295, which was just PERFECT for me to showcase this set.  If you know me – you know I LOVE to read, that is why I fell in love with it!  I adore the sentiment in the set that says, ‘the best days are spent curled up with a good book’ which I agree with!  I wish I could tell you what fabulous papers I used on this card for my fun paper-piecing, but I don’t remember what they are, sorry!   I used Gina K. buttons as an embellishment though.  I finished the sentiment on the inside of the card which says THE END.  HA!

Thanks for stopping by today!

***In case you’re wondering about where we stand on closing and moving in, no close date yet.  We are waiting on getting last minute stuff done.  I’m getting impatient.  We got our awesome appliances delivered yesterday!  Take a look at them on my husband’s blog – just scroll down for multiple posts from him, you can even take a look at our gorgeous granite countertops!!  I can’t wait to cook in there!!

***I’m MORE excited about the fact that my oldest sister, her husband and my niece and nephew are coming to visit in November!  Woo hoo!  It’s been a long time coming, I must get busy with my planning – ha!!

I {heart} books…

books

Howdy!  I can’t remember how long I’ve had this MFT stamp set illustrated by Stephanie Fizer, I {heart} books, but it’s the first time I inked it up – what a shame!  It was so fun to play with too!

I had to play along in the Crazy 4 Challenges blog challenge this week since my girl Jessie is the hostess and MFT is sponsoring it for a free stamp set to a random winner!  Her challenge is to use 2 or more ribbons on your card and I used Mercy’s sketch from last week too, since I needed a little help in that department!  I hate when I sit down to stamp and draw a blank on what layout to come up with so then I hunt one down to use and this was a perfect one for this set!!  I used October Afternoon Fly a Kite papers along with some of my favorite ribbon from the Taylored Expressions store.  I couldn’t help but sponge on this card with Tim Holtz distress inks and put a few few stitches either!

Be sure to check out Taylor’s blog for her announcement of our guest designer for the next 2 releases!

Think Snow

think snow

While some of y’all are thinking snow already where you live, I still see people walking around with shorts & flip flops around here!  Gotta love it!

Here is a sweet matchbook style card I made using the new line of MFT stamps Pure Innocence, Think Snow.  I used papers from Basic Grey Eskimo kisses and paper-pieced all her winter clothes.  This card was so fun to make and was one of the first to be bought when I took my cards to sell at John’s work.

Hope you have a great day!  I’ll be back Monday night with my first preview for Gina K. Designs release that is on Thursday!

Some Holiday fun cards!!

SFYTT MFT

I stamped all day today and had a lot of fun!  Mainly because I have new MFT stamps to play with from their most recent release!  I missed out on a few days’ stamping because I’ve felt under the weather with either allergies/sinus or a cold – I’m not sure which!  Sometimes the symptoms overlap with these but I’m on the mend, it just wiped me out.

The new MFT stamps are so cute – Cool Yule {the polar bear} that I won the night of the release by correctly and swiftly answering a trivia question in the thread – woo hoo!  The other is from the new Pure Innocence line (she is out of stock right now) – I thought these girls were too cute to pass up, so I got all 5 of them!  I used Jen’s SFYTT from today, and made the cards with the same papers (Jolly by Golly by Cosmo Cricket), Sage Shadow by SU! and Choice Buttercream by TE.  The chipboard snowflake on my polar bear card is from the Christmas key ingredients, I put glue on it and sprinkled some star dust glitter on it.  The white felt snowflake on the little girl card is by SU! and the button is also from the key ingredients.  I LOVED paper-piecing these cuties!!   2 more cards for my stash!

Hope you’re having a great weekend…

MFT Ambassador Challenge shares

Since last Wednesday was the MFT release and they always have 3 challenges I thought I would participte in 2 of them & share my projects!!  This is for the Ambassador challenge #2, to mask. I didn't get too elaborate with my card because I wanted to use my mouse from Tea for Two and my mind didn't lend itself to too much masking here!  I used the shadow under the cup from Icing on the cake and added the coffee set (tea time words and mugs on the pink passion vertical panel & tea bag on the edge of the cup) I used Jen's SFYTT from Sat for this one!  fun!  I also played in the OCC Challenge - by Laurie to use an embellishment as your inspiration.  It was this fun double-sided wire-edged pink passion ribbon I got at Hobby Lobby last week!  Isn't it fun?

This little heart candy tin is my project for Ambassador Challenge 1 to make a treat package with a heart theme.  Once again, using my Tea for Two set - I used the bunnies this time but ommitted the polka dots on the tea cup, then made my own hearts which I colored in with my red atyou spica pen for sparkle!  I made this real simple to show you that you don't have to make packaging super elaborate to make an impact.  By using the I {Heart} you sentiment from Who's that E-girl I made it a Valentine package instead of a tea package.  The polka dot ribbon is from Gina K - Holiday ribbon.

The Tea Room - an MFT & Savannah share & MFTea for Two winner!

Here is a tea gift set I made using MFT Tea for Two set (the bunny in the tea cup!) I just love it!!!  I got the definition of tea from Webster's Dictionary and copied that in a word file along with the words Tea for Two and Two for Tea quote (sorry I can't remember who it was now) printed it up, distressed it & packaged everything in a coffee bag.

Here's the contents of the bag.  Cute tea mug, my favorite black Indian tea Assam (cold for me with Stevia extract, yum), Vanilla Jasmine tea from the Tea Room, a cool place we visited 2 weeks ago in Savannah, GA, cocoa chocolate scone mix.

Here's a close up of the card - the dp I used is Wild Asparagus by My Mind's Eye.

Here's a picture of where we went.  It was downtown Savannah.

The place was packed and since we didn't make a reservation, we sat by the candlelit fireplace with cute coffee table to eat at.  That was more special & comfortable than a table!

Here is a picture of what I ate, cream & scones and that is an edible Orchid and yes, I ate it.  I got all this plus my own pot of tea with cozy to keep it warm, it was so yummy.  We really enjoyed this little bit of tea heaven that afternoon.  Except it would have been nicer to stay there instead of getting out in the rain when we were done.

Now onto the winner of Tea for Two!

MFT Blog Hop!! Tea for Two

I'm so excited to be My Favorite Thing's Guest Designer this month and more thrilled about the set I am sharing with you!! I hope you came to my blog after visiting Toni, but if you haven't - please start at the beginning of the hop by visiting Kim's (MFT Mama) blog to make sure you don't miss any of the fabulous eye candy from the design team which will lead you right back to me!

I love coffee and I love my tea (but not all varieties, I definitely have my faves) but when I saw this set TEA FOR TWO, I knew I would adore it! I just adore the illustrator's artwork Stephanie Fizer (especially those made into stamps for MFT), and checked out her Etsy store which is where I drew my inspiration** for this gift set (for ME!) **I hand drew the little flowers on the cup, they do not come that way, I wanted to re-create her print better)

On the inside of my card, I made an angled pocket to house the 2.5x3.5 inch Limited Edition original print illustration of "I Heart Tea" (signed by Stephanie on the back 5/10). Inside the little take out box (which is a die cut box you can get at Taylored Expressions) is the mini print inside a keychain (I special ordered that from Stephanie since she did not have them in her store) she was so great to work with & even threw in a few freebie goodies!! sweet!! You can see all photos larger by clicking on them.

Here's a full size photo of the print, in a hard plastic sleeve to protect it. This keychain is adorable and this gift set will be reminder of my accomplishment of being MFT Guest Designer this month - woo hoo!!
