Visit to the Pumpkin Patch

Yesterday we made our second annual visit to a local (1.5 hours away) Pumpkin Patch. The boys, once again, had a great time with the slides, zip line, corn maze, and pumpkin picking. Lily was pretty grumpy, but seemed to enjoy herself at times, too. She, of course liked totally different things than the boys.

She was fascinated by the scarecrows posed all over the place and wanted to go see them all. Of course, I couldn't get a picture of her doing this b/c every time I put her down she followed right behind me! Lily also surprised me by wanting to get her face painted and following through when we sat down for the girl to paint her face. Together, we decided on a ghost. You'll see in the picture, but the face painter was not a professional! Either way, though, Lily looked cute.

Lily also enjoyed looking at the baby animals. Dylan also enjoyed seeing the animals, but Ben continued with his record of refusing to look at the animals and complaining while the rest of us did so!

This is not a great picture of any of hte kids, but getting all 3 of them back there at one time was quite an accomplishment!

Ben made it to the top of one of those ladders that flip over VERY easily. We were so proud of him!

That was our trip! Tonight, Lily did something for the very first time - she saw her first fireworks show! We have a founders' day in our neighborhood. I'm not exactly sure what its for (our neighborhood is about 12 years old), but they have a cookout that is free for members and an excellent fireworks show over the golf course. We sit on a hill that is above the golf course fairway and can watch them shoot off the fireworks. They are shot into an area surrounded by mountains with no trees or buildings anywhere nearby. So, we have a completely unobstructed view of every little explosion. The booming sound echoes of the nearby mountains.

I was a little bit nervous about Lily's reaction to the fireworks, but this ended up being totally unnecessary. We talked beforehand about the loud boom and she didn't have a problem with it. She smiled, laughed, and commented that the fireworks were "good" and "big". She said ready, set, go and boom as they exploded. After particularly cool parts, she clapped along with some people sitting near us. She told me all the way until I put her to bed that they were "big" "good" and "boom." It was so cute! I have a few terrible pictures that I took while she was watching fireworks, but I will post them soon.

Hi Rachel,

I love the pumpkin patch pictures. What a fun day!

We took Josie to a pumpkin patch this weekend as well. We had the same kind of luck getting her picture.

The chalk drawings in the previous post are also very cute. They look like little cartoon pictures of the kids.

Fondly,
Reena

Looks like some good old-fashioned fun! Hope you brought home lots of pumpkins. Loved the report of Lily's reaction to the fireworks. Do your boys like fireworks?

Hi Rachel,

We were at the same pumpkin patch last Friday night! Isn't it a great place for the kids? Hope you all had as much fun as my boys and Sarah did.

Lily looks adorable in her "piggies". That is so funny she loves scarecrows... zoey is terrified of them-even the ones in her books! Zoey was very grumpy on our trip to the pumpkin patch too!

I can't believe ben did that ladder- it is very hard.... i have tried it!
