Today I took Corbin in for more follow up kidney tests. The poor kid had to get another catheter. It took me and 2 other nurses to hold him down and try to keep him still. Corbin was a very, very sad boy. This has definatley been the worst test up to this point, simply because he is getting older and stronger, but he isn't old enought to understand what is going on. It was a very long 20 or so minutes that we had to hold him down while he was screaming, crying, and trying to squirm away. They injected Corbin with dye and then took xrays to see if the fluid was still refluxing back up from the bladder to the kidney. Corbin has two tubes coming out of his kidney instead of just one. The top tube showed no reflux, but the bottom one shows approximately the same amount of reflux that he had when the test was done a year ago.
The doctor told me that he is almost positive that surgery will be necessary. He said that if the kidney was going to repair itself, it would have been during Corbin's first year since that is when the body grows the most. The doctor likes to wait and do this surgery when the child is between the ages of two and three, so it will probably be late next year.
So. That is the latest kidney update. It is nice that we don't have to do anything for the next year (besides medicine). In some ways, I am actually kind of looking forward to the surgery. I hate that Corbin will have to go through it, but it is nice to know that his kidney will be fixed. And that he won't have to deal with more tests, medicine, and appointments for his kidney (hopefully).

Poor little guy. He'll be in our prayers for sure. Thanks for the update. It's good to know what's going on with you guys.
ha ha. I was going to say "poor little guy." But it looks like Katie beat me to it. Oh well. Poor little guy. I hope you gave him lots of ice cream or something to make up for torturing him like that!!
We all want to say poor little guy!!
It's hard to be helpless when your little one is sad. I'm so glad the test is through.
A year will go by fast though! I agree with Travis, somehow ice cream sounds like a good remedy ;)
I feel so bad about the procedure!! What a awesome little boy. We too, will keep him in our thoughts and prayers. We love you guys! :)
It makes my heart hurt to think of what he had to go through and him not really knowing or understanding what was taking place. I am so sorry that Clark wasn't there with you. What a strong person you are Staci - to have to go through that without Clark. What a great Mom you are. I am so grateful to you for being such a wonderful and special Mom to Corbin. We do love you very much and our thoughts and prayers will continue. I echo the above "poor little guy." Excited to see you guys on Thursday - I'm sure Corbin will be asleep because we don't get into the airport until 7:45 p.m. but we will be anxious to see him on Friday morning.
ill just add to it all..."poor little guy!"
Man, that really does sound miserable. I can't imagine. I can see what you mean about not looking forward to the surgery, but at the same time glad that it will take place so that everything can be taken care of and not have to worry any more. Garrett had surgery when he was 17 months old (a problem with his ureter), and up until that point I was a nervous wreck. It was so nice to finally have it all behind us after the surgery was done, and there've been no problems since.
How sad! I'll definitely keep him in my prayers. How funny that you went to school with Manti! He lives just a couple doors down from me with Jarom Jordan and I had a class and was an EFY counselor with Cody Lee if you remember those two!
Poor dude. Catheters are the worst.
That makes me sad. I am sorry you guys are going through that. I will keep you in my prayers.
Hopefully he's forgotten all about it by now, right? You're a good mommy to hold him through that... It would have been so hard! My Siah can't even handle his routine shots without screaming and reaching for me. You guys are tough!
