"Isn't it beautiful!" That's what a visitor to the Sarasota National Cemetery exclaimed to me as she admired the Christmas wreaths adorning every grave. For the fourth year, the Sarasota Military Academy spearheaded this local initiative which is part of a national program called 'Wreaths Across America'. Each wreath costs $15 and the school raised $75,000 to cover the expense of providing one wreath for each of the 5,000 tombstones. Great program! I'm not sure SRQ, do you mean $75,000 is spent every year on these wreaths?
Yep. And apparently they don't have much difficulty raising the money.
This is fabulous, SRQ. I have read about these programs, but I haven't seen one in person and didn't know that Sarasota hosted one.
Merry Christmas!
Wow! This is impressive.
Brings a lump to my throat.
