Today is the birthday of bluesman Kokomo Arnold.
According to Wikipedia, "Born as James Arnold in Lovejoy's Station, Georgia, he got his nickname in 1934 after releasing "Old Original Kokomo Blues" for the Decca label; it was a cover of the Scrapper Blackwell blues song about the city of Kokomo, Indiana.[1] A left-handed slide guitarist, his intense slide style of playing and rapid-fire vocal style set him apart from his contemporaries.".

It's the Birthday of Sonny Landreth
Sonny Landreth was born on February 1, 1951. Landreth by most accounts is a slide guitar playing phenom. A home boy of mine, he is from southwest Louisiana. He was born in Canton, Mississippi, but soon after, his family moved to Jackson, Mississippi, before settling in Lafayette, Louisiana. Now he stays in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, when he is not touring and performing with his band.
His Latest CD From The Reach - Highlights his singer, songwriter and Louisiana slide guitar playing. It is his first studio album in five years. This time around he unites his band with a who's who of musical guests for a set of all-original roots rock tinged with the blues and New Orleans soul. Featured guitarists and vocalists include Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Vince Gill, Eric Johnson, Robben Ford, Dr. John and Jimmy Buffett.
