really really lovely private press pastorale psyche twee from 1969. from the dudes who did this & this. they made this as a soundtrack so a coupla songs are a little silly out of context, but worth the price of admission for the first two alone.

private press record from 1970 of a beautiful british folk rock band. sounds as if stuart murdoch fronted the free design in new mexico. haunted pastorale pop perfect for midnight drives down deserted highways.

city of scum.

i've been meaning to post this masterpiece for a while now. the japanese csny, or maybe burrito brothers. either way, it's honeyed harmonies over beautiful folky country rock.

re-upped 6/12/13.

we've all seen the queen.

The World of Oz were a British psychedelic pop group who released a sole self-titled LP in 1968, before fading into relative obscurity. Their song 'The Muffin Man' was a minor hit in the UK and US, and reached the Top 10 in a number of European countries. - wikipedia

that is seriously all i could find out about this band... there isn't a whole lot floating out there about them. all i can say is if you liked that hearts & flowers album i posted, then you'll dig this. this is a bit more pastoral folk pop with minor psych flourishes than that band, but it also reminds me a bit of the byrds as well. a really fantastic album with pretty goofy artwork. i've been really diggin' on this one hepcats.

i'm going to try for the sun.

this album has fast become a favorite around these parts as the weather warms up a bit & beach trips have become more common. predating gram parsons, this is cosmic country how i want it to be. it reminds me of late era byrds with gorgeous harmonies, although it predates the byrds sweetheart of the rodeo by an entire year. these cats were onto something with this lp, but never reached the fame or popularity of the bigger names which is a real shame because this is a beautiful hazy psych country album. the second song will floor y'all. if yr into the byrds, flying burrito brothers, or my main man lee hazelwood, then i highly recommend getting this now. this is another one i haven't seen around too much, but this should be gigantic.
