Ugandan Health Minister Christine Ondoa Thinks the Power of Prayer cures AIDS

In the box of crazy ass beliefs, here's a new one for you. Ugandan Health Minister Christine Ondoa thinks prayer cures AIDS and saves our demonic souls:
Along with her role as a medical professional, Christine Ondoa also serves as pastor in the Life Line Ministries of apostle Julius Peter Oyet, one of the most powerful clerics leading Uganda's ongoing crusade against gay rights.

Julius Oyet's Life Line Ministries runs a Uganda branch of an international faith healing ministry under Wagner apostle Cal Pierce, head of the International Association of Healing Rooms. Cal Pierce's Healing Room Ministries lists almost 400 healing room branches in cities and towns across the United States, and well over 1,000 internationally.

Since her appointment as Health Ministry head, Ondoa has promoted the claim, an established tenet of Peter Wagner's apostolic movement, also advanced by Oyet's Life Line Ministries, that HIV/AIDS can be cured through prayer. According to a story published September 2008 in the Uganda Daily Monitor, "Unverified faith healing is posing a threat to adherence to antiretroviral therapy (ART) by persons living with HIV/Aids."
Girl please, there is no power of prayer and how does she have a job like this?

Folks held a Prayer Protest against a Male Student running for Homecoming Queen

Great Hera, Tennessee! Students at David Crockett High School were so upset about a male student running for Homecoming Queen, they held a prayer protest.

Those students were suspended. I guess the power of prayer failed.

"TheCall to Conscience" The Attack of 1001 Wackos

This is very sad and disturbing. Cultural terrorists gathered in Sacramento to pray away gay marriage... Mess!

Thousands of Christian conservatives spent 12 hours Saturday praying and fasting in front of the state Capitol at a gathering organizers described as spiritual repentance "when there is no hope for a nation."

The daylong religious event titled, "TheCall to Conscience," was led by Lou Engle as well as other pastors and speakers to protest gay marriage, pornography and abortion. Many of those attending slapped red "Life" stickers over their shirts and set up blankets and folding chairs facing a large stage with banners that read: "Only One Hope God."

People close to the front of the stage held up their hands when called to prayer. They jumped and danced to musical performances between sermons. The gathering filled the west lawn of the state Capitol and hundreds of people spilled into the next block, but the rest of Capitol Mall's five-block-long lawn went unused despite large screens and barricades set up for the occasion.

Can we start taxing the Hell out of religious groups now?

Prayer Power Saved New York!

You got to love Christians sometimes. I found this from JoeMyGod, about how Miss Janet Porter's prayer powers saved New York from terrorists.

If, like us, you thought Janet Porter's May Day 2010 prayer rally at the Lincoln Memorial was an unmitigated disaster because the event only attracted a crowd of a few hundred when they were expecting 8,000, no members of Congress showed up, Porter was left covering tens of thousands of dollars in costs while having a distributor drop her radio program due to her involvement in dominion theology, you would be mistaken.

As it turns out, the event was a massive success because, according to an email from Cindy Jacobs and Generals International, it was their May Day prayers that caused the bomb in Times Square to fail to detonate:

Wow, and here I thought New York was saved by the Sword of Omens

Hey God, there's a Million Folks praying for Obama's death... How do you feel about that?

This is a hot ass mess.

A Facebook page, praying for Obama's death, has over a million followers. How Christian like!

A Facebook group accused of "praying" for the death of President Barack Obama has raised controversy online, with many calling for Facebook to remove the group as "offensive speech."

The group, which lists its location as "Marysville, OH, 43040," currently has over 1 million members--Facebook users who say they "like" the group. It includes an album of anti-Obama imagery uploaded by the group's members--what Facebook labels "fan photos--that show the president against a communist flag, juxtaposed with insulting and derisive captions, or even a cartoon "associating Obama to Hitler."

There's another page asking Facebook to remove the 'prayer', they have over 650, 000 followers. If you ask me, the whole thing is a mess. I expect this behavior in Myspace, not Facebook.

Iowa, God don't have Time for This

Guess what? Gay marriage is on in Iowa today. I'm still a little shocked that Iowa is the 3rd state that allows us to have a picket fence.

Yet, to some folks are thinking it's the beginning of Satan's reign.

Gloria Villaneuva of Bonaparte organized the statewide prayer service to express her opposition to the Iowa supreme court ruling that legalized same-sex marriage earlier this month. Prayer participants were urged to report to their local county courthouse at 7:45 a.m. and join vigils like this one captured by the Ottumwa Courier.

They say prayer works, however I think I this one prayer that will go unanswered (sorry, to those who believe)

Rev. V. Gene Robinson's Words

HBO messed up the timing, so if you missed Rev. V. Gene Robinson speak, here is what he said

Welcome to Washington! The fun is about to begin, but first, please join me in pausing for a moment, to ask God’s blessing upon our nation and our next president.

O God of our many understandings, we pray that you will…

Bless us with tears – for a world in which over a billion people exist on less than a dollar a day, where young women from many lands are beaten and raped for wanting an education, and thousands die daily from malnutrition, malaria, and AIDS.

Bless us with anger – at discrimination, at home and abroad, against refugees and immigrants, women, people of color, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.

Bless us with discomfort – at the easy, simplistic “answers” we’ve preferred to hear from our politicians, instead of the truth, about ourselves and the world, which we need to face if we are going to rise to the challenges of the future.

Bless us with patience – and the knowledge that none of what ails us will be “fixed” anytime soon, and the understanding that our new president is a human being, not a messiah.

Bless us with humility – open to understanding that our own needs must always be balanced with those of the world.

Bless us with freedom from mere tolerance – replacing it with a genuine respect and warm embrace of our differences, and an understanding that in our diversity, we are stronger.

Bless us with compassion and generosity – remembering that every religion’s God judges us by the way we care for the most vulnerable in the human community, whether across town or across the world.

And God, we give you thanks for your child Barack, as he assumes the office of President of the United States.

Give him wisdom beyond his years, and inspire him with Lincoln’s reconciling leadership style, President Kennedy’s ability to enlist our best efforts, and Dr. King’s dream of a nation for ALL the people.

Give him a quiet heart, for our Ship of State needs a steady, calm captain in these times.

Give him stirring words, for we will need to be inspired and motivated to make the personal and common sacrifices necessary to facing the challenges ahead.

Make him color-blind, reminding him of his own words that under his leadership, there will be neither red nor blue states, but the United States.

Help him remember his own oppression as a minority, drawing on that experience of discrimination, that he might seek to change the lives of those who are still its victims.

Give him the strength to find family time and privacy, and help him remember that even though he is president, a father only gets one shot at his daughters’ childhoods.

And please, God, keep him safe. We know we ask too much of our presidents, and we’re asking FAR too much of this one. We know the risk he and his wife are taking for all of us, and we implore you, O good and great God, to keep him safe. Hold him in the palm of your hand – that he might do the work we have called him to do, that he might find joy in this impossible calling, and that in the end, he might lead us as a nation to a place of integrity, prosperity and peace.

AMEN.
