SCOTUS Upholds Michigan’s Affirmative-Action Ban, Sotomayor pissed

Drama!

In a 6-2 Supreme Court decision last night, Justice Anthony Kennedy, John Roberts, Samuel Alito and few others voted to uphold the 2006 Michigan constitutional amendment ban on affirmative action based on race, gender, ethnicity, or national origin in hiring or college admissions.

The one judge that was NOT on board... Was Justice Sonia Sotomayor. Oh, she was over it for real!

She said:
"But without checks, democratically approved legislation can oppress minority groups. Michigan voters "changed the basic rules of the political process in that state in a manner that uniquely disadvantaged racial minorities."
But that's not all. Please read her 58 page dissent

Haters in Utah takes the Anti-Gay Marriage battle to the Supreme Court

The haters won't let up.

Before the new year, they filed papers asking Justice Sonia Sotomayor to overturn the gay marriage decision.

Now, she can make the decision herself or ask the courts to assist her. I hope she handles it and grants the haters nothing.

What in the Hell is wrong with Tom Tancredo?

Tom Tancredo has had way too many haterade cocktails. The radical anti-immigration activist isn't feeling judge Sonia Sotomayor, in fact, he's claiming she was a part of National Council of La Raza, the Latino Ku Klux Klan.

Sonia Sotomayor is Obama's pick for Supreme Court

Interesting news

President Barack Obama tapped federal appeals judge Sonia Sotomayor for the Supreme Court on Tuesday, officials said, making her the first Hispanic in history picked to wear the robes of a justice.

If confirmed by the Senate, Sotomayor, 54, would succeed retiring Justice David Souter. Two officials described Obama's decision on condition of anonymity because no formal announcement had been made. Administration officials say Sotomayor would bring more judicial experience to the Supreme Court than any justice confirmed in the past 70 years.

A formal announcement was expected at midmorning.

Obama had said publicly he wanted a justice who combined intellect and empathy — the ability to understand the troubles of everyday Americans.

Democrats hold a large majority in the Senate, and barring the unexpected, Sotomayor's confirmation should be assured. If approved, she would join Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg as the second woman on the current court.

More on her later today
