Clive Barker's Nightbreed the TV Series?

One of my favorite movies and written works may be a TV series. Clive Barker's Nightbreed could be coming back for the new generation.

On his website, the great writer Clive Barker speaks:
“We are also actively in conversation about doing a Nightbreed television series which will be for cable, so it will have a chance to be as sexy or as graphic in terms of the violence as we need it to be. For example, do you have Spartacus over there? Oh my God, it redefines gruesome... I also applaud them for finally realising it’s not a bad thing to see a manhood once in a while – it’s not as if half the world doesn’t see it daily…”

"The sensitivity of our culture has sort of caught up with Nightbreed. I don’t wish to be immodest but the general sense is that the movie failed because people didn’t want to associate with the monster and I think our culture has changed – I think our culture is now ready to embrace the ambiguity. You’ve only got to look at Twilight where obviously the monsters are the good guys – I’m not a huge fan but I’m enough of a fan to watch and see monsters being celebrated. There’s something very satisfying about seeing the evolution of the werewolves...

"With Macy being unwell, he likes being with me 24 hours a day. I’m very aware that my love of animals – my love of dogs – is in there being satisfied in those movies - I mean, to be able to run fast and turn into a wolf – wow! Awesome! It really was a dream of my childhood – to have been a dog. It was something I always wanted to do."
This is cute. I guess we will see if someone bites Clive's bait.

ABC Dumps 'Work It'

ABC just axed the messy, 'Bosom Buddies' RIP OFF, 'Work It'.

This show drew HUGE criticism from Trans community over their sloppy attempt to tell a story. Plus the writing was broke.

Here's more:
Out of the gate, Work It was dismissed by both critics (who criticized its brand of comedy) and the gay community (for the message it supposedly communicated). The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) and the Human Rights Campaign took to out an ad in a Hollywood trade to show how the sitcom that starred Amaury Nolasco (Prison Break) and Benjamin Koldyke (How I Met Your Mother) have a negative impact on the transgender community. Using photos of transgender Americans, an ad in Variety features statistics from the National Center for Transgender Equality and the National Gay & Lesbian Task Force on discrimination to demonstrate how the comedy could be misinterpreted by viewers.

ABC Entertainment Chief Paul Lee told reporters last week that he didn’t understand the response from the advocacy groups. He has said in the past that, as a Brit, he appreciates the cheeky humor that comes with cross-dressing comedies like the Dustin Hoffman movie Tootsie.

GLAAD’s senior director of programs Herndon Graddick released this statement today: “While many of ABC’s positive and groundbreaking portrayals of LGBT people have been critical and popular successes, the public had little interest in this outdated show. As a result of this campaign, an important dialogue has been started in Hollywood and mainstream media about the real discrimination faced by transgender people today.”
Unlike 'Tootsie', this premise was not cute.

What is this Cute Aussie's role in the Wonder Woman pilot?

Brett Tucker has been cast in the Wonder Woman pilot, but the role is unknown. Folks over at Wonder Woman TV thinks he maybe be Steve Trevor.

But I wonder if he will be someone else like another love interest or Ares the God of War.

The Wonder Woman Pilot has Artemis in it

Interesting change of events. In the original casting call, Artemis was nowhere to be found. Now, she could be a part of the cast.
Fans looking for some Wonder Woman mythology will be happy with some more casting news we have learned.

The WW production is currently casting the role of Artemis. Thus far, she only seems to be present for a flashback scene that details Steve Trevor’s crash on Paradise Island.
But if they’re going so far as to cast someone for this… surely it’s not just going to be an extra. Could Artemis be seen on the show again if the series continues beyond a pilot?

I think she should, but I would

More MESS in the Wonder Woman Pilot: Diana Prince serves as WW's Personal Assistant?

You know, it's hard to get excited about Wonder Woman returning to TV when this script has got it ALL THE FRAK WRONG.

Now, I'm learning that Diana Prince will be WW's assistant? See here,
The probably bad news (and it's not really news, at this stage): 'Wonder Woman' is being reimagined by TV uber-producer David E. Kelley, and the things Kelley is doing to the 'Wonder Woman' franchise is filling many TV observers and Diana Prince fans with dread.

First of all, he's created three different personas for Palicki to play. She'll be the crime-fighting Wonder Woman, of course, but she'll also play W.W.'s alter ego, corporate executive Diana Themyscira, and Diana's assistant, Diana Prince.

Huh? That seems a little ornate, if not confusing. And it's disheartening to read that
The Daily Beast's Jace Lacob called Kelley's 'Wonder Woman' pilot script "laughably bizarre." He also said the pilot was "outdated," "cloying" and full of "stilted dialogue" and "bizarre narrative conceits." Sure, the script might undergo some alterations before the pilot is shot, but various early reactions to the project aren't exactly promising.
Hera, hold my unicorn. That just doesn't make any sense. What's Diana going to do? Use her JemStar earrings to project a hologram of the 'other Diana' in the room?

The Wonder Woman TV Pilot Script Breakdown

I have found the WW script breakdown. It's interesting to say the least. Check it out:
This new Wonder Woman does feature a lot of elements and characters from the comics continuity:
  • There’s a Myndi Mayer, herein portrayed as Diana’s BFF.
  • There’s a scene with comics character Etta Candy, a role that’s pretty much written like a job offer to Melissa McCarthy.
  • Long ago, government man Steve Trevor crashed onto Wonder Woman’s island and brought her back to New York, but now they’ve split up. She still loves him, though, and it’s obvious that their relationship is going to be a focus.
  • Diana might not have an invisible jet (if she did, I didn’t see it) but she has a whole rainbow’s worth of over coloured aircraft.
  • She has the lasso, and those bracelets with which she deflects bullets.
  • Her nemesis is Veronica Cale, who in this continuity is an evil scientist and rival businesswoman with a secret, nefarious plan that you’ll probably guess ahead of time.
But there’s a lot that’s different too. As well as her Diana Prince alter ego (the Clark Kent disguise that’s achieved by putting her hair up, wearing glasses and cutting back on the make-up) Wonder Woman also has a third guise and a day job as Diana Themyscyra, the head of Themiscyra industries. While little Ms. Prince is a disguise, it is well known in this world that Ms. T and Wonder W are the same – think Tony Stark and Iron Man from the end of their first film on.

There’s a CSI-ish group of science-nerd 20-somethings living in her basement that dance to Kanye West and will doubtlessly help Diana solve any number of crimes in further episodes.
Very interesting, very interesting. I wished they had stick to the original story. What do you think?

Are these girls the New Charlie's Angels?

Word is these girls maybe working for Charlie.

Deadline has the scoop...
Minka Kelly and Rachael Taylor are close to putting on angel wings. The Friday Night Lights alumna and the Transformers babe are in negotiations for the remaining two Angel spots in ABC's Charlie's Angels pilot. They would join previously cast Annie Ilonzeh to form the new trio of sexy female sleuths - Kelly, whose character will be renamed, Ilonzeh's Kate and Taylor's Abby.
Here's the lowdown on the Angels:
In the current breakdown, the character, previously named Marisa, is described as a former U.S. Marine, a weapons expert trained in all forms of hand-to-head combat and a neat freak.

Taylor's Abby is the youngest and sassiest of the Angels, the beautiful and privileged daughter of a notorious Wall Street crook who is an expert con artist herself as well as a Krav Maga expert.
Interesting, what do you think?

Sarah Michelle Prinze is Back on TV!

Yes, our Buffy is back on TV with a new series.
Boom! Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans may now officially start foaming at the mouth: Sarah Michelle Gellar is coming back to TV, and she's ready to kick some ass again. Vulture has learned that CBS just gave a pilot greenlight to Ringer, an hourlong thriller that will star the ex-Slayer as a troubled young lass on the run from the mob. She assumes the life of her wealthy twin sister, only to find out that said sibling has a bounty on her head as well. If we're understanding this right, SMG will actually get to play both roles, which could be all sorts of fun. Ringer is from Supernatural writers Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder; Gellar will serve as a co-executive producer on the project, which is being produced by ABC Television Studios and CBS Television Studios. It's Gellar's first TV show since Buffy left the air in 2003.
This is great! Love, Sarah!

Interesting Quote: David E. Kelley

“The bottom line is I had a lot of fun writing it, and we’re still optimistic that we’re going to do it. We’ve got a script that [Warner Bros. TV] and DC are very excited about.”
David still has hope for Diana on TV.

Networks PASS on the Wonder Woman TV Show

I have some lukewarm news about WW. Networks are not feeling a Wonder Woman TV Show.
EW reports:
Wonder Woman wasn’t able to lasso a new home.
Sources tell EW.com the major broadcasters have all passed on the much buzzed about project. The final network considering the project, NBC, declined to bring the superhero back to TV moments ago.
Warner Bros. TV was actively shopping a script from David E. Kelley that updated the period tale about an Amazon princess who battled Nazis and other bad guys during World War II. One source close to the project said the Wonder Woman team won’t give up on the project, even though it’s “not moving forward at this time.”

One factor may have been the projected cost of rebooting the series, with the studio requiring a grown-up license fee to bring the iconic character back to life (in other words, nobody wanted it to be another Bionic Woman). The cost means its unlikely that a cable network would be able to step up and foot the bill.
I'm a little sad (maybe more), but possibly this could be a good thing. Perhaps a movie could surface if the right writer and director gets involved.  However, it still bothers me that every other DC Comic character is getting a green light, but WW can't.

And Bionic Woman? I'm sorry, but BW doesn't have the same iconic fanbase as Wonder Woman, so they should not even compare the two. Also, the crap some of these networks put on the tube? Child Cheese, WW could save some this broke ass network (CW).

Is David. E. Kelley backing down from Wonder Woman?

I just read this piece and I wonder if David is having second thoughts.

Here, see for yourself
The successful creator of shows like Ally McBeal, The Practice and Boston Legal also said that any talk about who will play the Amazonian princess is just speculation: "At the beginning, there was a little bit of that, but we quickly made it known that was premature. I haven't necessarily committed to doing it yet. I'm at the point where I'm trying to figure out if I can make the franchise work for me."

Kelley admitted that if he doesn't feel good about the project, "I don't want to delude Warner Brothers or anybody else that I should be doing it. The way I've always worked has been to write a script and discover, in the process of the writing, if it's a fertile and creative place where I want to live. If I feel I can make the characters my own and it's a world rich enough for me to revisit, that's a good sign to me that it's a series worth doing."

The other challenge facing Kelley is time: With Harry's Law set to premiere on NBC on Jan. 17, he might have a hard time actually figuring out whether he and Wonder WomanWonder Woman] is right for me, and I'm right for it, is to roll my sleeves up and close the door and do some work," he said. "And that's a challenge, because it's kind of a busy time." make a good match. "The only way I'm truly going to discover if [

Interesting, well, to be honest I wasn't excited about him doing WW. If he backs down, maybe this could be a good thing.

My Wonder Woman TV Casting part 1

If you know me, you knew this was coming... My dream cast for the WW TV series.

General Phillipus should be played by Gina Torres

 Rhona Mitra as Queen Hippolyta

I think Diana needs an adversary, not completely a bad girl, but not an angel. So I would bring back Orana. She was the only amazon to beat Diana for the title. And I think Olivia Wilde could deliver in this role.

Steve Trevor or maybe another love interest could be played by cutie, Zachary Knighton (The Hitcher, Flash Forward)
This is part one, part 2 will come shortly.

Charlie's Angels are Coming... Back

The show that made million of gays happy, may be back. Charlie's Angels is heading into production.
TV-produced project was originally set up at ABC with a pilot commitment last November with Josh Friedman as a writer. It didn’t go to pilot stage and, after the upfronts, it was put in redevelopment with new writers, Smallville creators/executive producers Al Gough and Miles Millar. Back then, it was one of 5 projects put on fast-track development under previous ABC president Steve McPherson.

After McPherson's successor Paul Lee took over in August, there has been chatter that he liked Gough and Millar's script. Top casting director John Papsidera recently was quietly tapped to start some exploratory search for the leads. The project just released an official breakdown and I hear it has locked in Miami as location for the shoot, eyed for January. Gough and Millar are executive producing with Leonard Goldberg, executive producer of the original series, Drew Barrymore and Nancy Juvonen.

This could work, I hope it's diverse.

The Hulk and other Possible Marvel projects coming to TV screen?

Marvel Studios are working on future projects that could be on the tube in the next few years.
The Live Feed has the scoop:
Hulk is one of two projects that are priorities at Marvel Television, Marvel Studio’s TV division, which has been operating under the radar since Jeph Loeb took the reins at the end of June.
The second hot property is "Cloak and Dagger," which is being developed for ABC Family.

Both are in the early stages of development; Hulk has a “showrunner wanted” placard around its neck. ABC had no comment. Meanwhile, Loeb is meeting with writers to hear ideas for "Cloak and Dagger."
Marvel began narrowing it list of possible TV adaptations in May with a presentation on the Disney lot.

Executives presented ABC suits with a list of titles they identified as possible series:
• "Heroes for Hire" (focusing on ex-con Luke Cage offering to take on bad guys for a price);
• "The Eternals" (a race of superpowered beings live amid humanity in secret, inspiring legends);
• "Agents of Atlas, Alter Ego" (private investigator Jessica Jones takes on cases involving superhumans);
• "Moon Knight, the Red Hood" (a low-rent criminal discovers a cloak that gives him superpowers);
• "Ka-Zar" (a Tarzan-type and his saber-toothed tiger must journey to the concrete jungle to seek justice);
• "Daughters of the Dragon" (a dynamic female duo, one with a bionic arm and the other a granddaughter of a samurai, open a private-detective agency); and
• "The Punisher" (one man wages a war on crime; already adapted as two feature films).
Looks promising, maybe a couple of these could be a hit
