The new year has started with lots to do! I've managed to take some time in my workroom and I am trying to keep these pretty letter holders as unique as possible. These are metal and have been embellished with beautiful lace and roses.
The little tiles are hand painted by the former, My Pink Boutique.
Thank you for stopping by. Always more to come.

So Shabby Pink - I love Housey Blogs! Share your favorites!
I LOVE housey blogs! I love seeing how others decorate their homes. Guess that is why I love estate sales so much. We get to go inside!! I love seeing renovations, especially those with before and after pictures. I love the fact that blogs let us see into others' homes without even taking one step out the front door.
Here is one of my favorite DIY bloggers. I mean, she is truly a DIYer! She has power tools!
http://www.thriftyandchic.com/
Her entry, "Shabby Chic Framed $5 Door Mirror" is a good example.
I really do admire folks that are not afraid to express their own ideas, even if they are different from everyone else.
Hope you will subscribe to her blog! She does post frequently and it never disappoints! GREAT DIY blog!
I would love to see what your favorite blogs are! I never get enough. Post a comment and share!
Thanks for stopping by,
Peggy

So Shabby Pink New Wall Decor
I know it's back to school time for all the kids. That hopefully will free up some of you ladies to do some things you may have had to put aside this summer. ALSO, cooler weather is on the way!
It's still so warm here that some of our flowers are still blooming. This is an Angel Trumpet. It blooms during the cooler hours and they fade away during the warmer part of the day. These blooms are about 7 inches long!

So Shabby Pink - Cottage Shabby Coastal Everything I Love Room !
I just LOVE this room! I have seen this picture more than once in my favorite magazines, Romantic Country and Romantic Homes. The colors are so appealing. The vintage bark cloth pillow is just the perfect touch. So shabby chicy. So coastal. So peaceful.
My problem is that I am fickle. I mean really fickle. I might create a room just like this and then see something else I like and might even be ready to change it all out by the time I finish the first color scheme! Am I the only one like this? It's kind of frustrating!
I want to make a room like this for our home!
Have a happy Thursday evening!

So Shabby Pink - Time for Winter Planting
Last summer, I planted some seeds of an ANGEL TRUMPET plant and it came back this spring much larger than it ever got last year!
For perspective, those blooms are about 6"-7" long! They evidently are quite hardy as it is surviving the hot Texas summer. It got almost as tall as me so I had to cut it back. It really is beautiful!
It's almost time to plant some things for fall. It's so dang hot here that we have two full growing seasons. Long ago, I had tomatoes in December!
Hmmmmmm, what shall I try to grow? I have so much shade in our yard that I am going to try containers like a family member, Kimberly, did. She grew some awesome cucumbers in a 5 gallon bucket with a wick for watering and a pole in the middle for the plant to climb.
As long as the container is large enough to give the roots enough room to grow to support a healthy plant, I guess you can use just about anything. I picked up some 5 gallon buckets at our local grocery store in the BAKERY department. Icing buckets! They will give them to you for free but you get to clean out the leftover icing! Okay!
I love these old watering pots. We will see what happens!

So Shabby Pink - Introducing Designer Artist Darlene Lydia Violet
Hello!
I want to introduce you to a Designer/Artist that I met this year. Her professional name is Darlene Lydia Violet. I met Darlene through my website and it has been such a pleasure to get to know her.
First and foremost, Darlene wants all to know that she is a Christian and that she loves God with all her heart and soul. Darlene says God has given her this ability. She is happily married to her husband, Terry and they live in Florida with eight doggies! They have Miniature Schnauzers and Cairn Terriers. She likes calling them Schnauzicairns!
This is my favorite painting of hers. Everyone knows I love roses and this fits into the shabby chic and cottage home look I love so much.
Pink "Best Friends" Poodles is being shown on the website Vintage Chic Furniture. The hearts glow in the dark and they have faux diamond collars, eyes and toe nails! There is also a pink rose on the lady poodle's paw.
This painting has all my favorite colors. Such a beautiful piece of art! I really admire her talent and am so pleased to present her to you all.
All of Darlene's paintings are originals and painted in acrylics. They are finished off on the front with ribbons or pearls and pretty things that give them dimension. The back of her paintings are finished with felt and ribbons or fabric and ribbons.
I know there are many more fine details about Darlene's paintings that she would love to tell you about herself. If you would like to see more of Darlene's work or have questions, you can contact her through her email address:
thepinkpoodle7777@bellsouth.net:email or contact me at:
soshabbypink@satx.rr.com and I will hook you up with her!
I hope all of you are doing well. Glad you stopped by tonight. We finally got RAIN today and all is well.

Shabby Pink - Some Old and Some New
Hello and hope your Saturday morning is going well.
We have some pink scrunchies for lamp cords on So Shabby Pink. They are 8 feet long and very silky.

I also used to make a jewelry line many years ago and picked up some of my old pieces for this bracelet. For a 7" wrist. Antiqued brass pieces.

I like to give old things a totally new look. This is an old wooden phone note pad. Yes, it was even on our wall for a period of time. It has been redesigned into a lovely shabby chic style accessory for your message area.

60 Yards of White Demin for Shabby Chic Room
Hello!
Years ago, maybe 6 years ago, I bought 4 bolts of white cotton denim. I love that white shabby chic style. My goal was to make some slipcovers for a sofa, a chair and an ottoman. I have finally broken down all barriers and began with the easiest piece, of course. Ugh, I have never make slipcovers before! I do think I can do this though. I have even dreamed about how to make it easier. I want to share this new challenge with you as I go along, but my real purpose of tonight's post is to share something, after sewing all my life, that I discovered just last night. It is yet, another thing I used to see my mother do as she sewed for our family. I posted earlier that she was an expert seamstress. I started thinking about what it was that made her results so great! I mean, I know how to do the things she did but my results have not always been quite as excellent as hers. Then, it dawned on me. She HAND BASTED everything first! You may think that is ridiculous. I have certainly thought it was a waste of time. I saw her do it when she made complex things but I have always thought I could get away with using straight pins. I also just have not wanted to take that time to hand baste. It is just so boring! It takes so long! I have just wanted to get on with it! I have used welting many times for pillows and have always just pinned it all together. The sewing part was always a little tricky and I would struggle a bit, especially around the corners, but I would get through it and be glad that step was over.
I started on the ottoman last night as it is the easiest of all I am going to do. I started with the pins and pinned the welting I made (with the zipper foot) and took my time to get it even all the way around. THEN, I HAND BASTED THE WHOLE THING - Yes, all the way around!
Oh, my gosh!! I cannot believe how well this first part has come out! Stitching the welting to the top of the ottoman cover was so easy and the finished product was better than I had hoped for! The corners were a breeze! Well, I tell you. I may be the last to realize the importance of this step, but I am the happiest of persons to have taken the time to do it. Hand basting. Who would have thought? So glad you came by! Peggy

So Shabby Pink Pretty Pink Rose Pin Cushion
I shared with you in an earlier post that I really do love to sew. I have some sewing notions that were actually my mother's, so they are rather old and not necessarily pretty.
My mother was an excellent seamstress and her talents were not wasted as she put them to use for me and my sister. I believe she would have been a fantastic fashion designer as well. Even as a young girl of 10 or 11 years, I would sit for hours and watch her sew.
She made a lot of little notions for me. The most unusual was half of a large walnut shell stuffed with cotton and pink fabric made into a pin cushion! It had a tiny pipe cleaner handle and a bow tied to the handle.

Large rhinestone adorns the center of the rose.

Well, this is much larger than a walnut shell and prettier than the little pipe cleaner handle. I have this one for sale on our website So Shabby Pink. I'll be making more during this spring and summer.

So Shabby Pink - Make Two Pillows out of One
Hi, everyone!
It's been such a pretty day today in south central Texas. It was in the 70's - you know, the temp where you don't seem to even be able to feel the air on you skin.
In my last post, I said I would show you how to make 2 pillows out of one.
Take a look at these pillows below~~~~
What you see are 3 creamy neutral pillows...... right?
However, pillows #1, #2, and #3 below are the SAME PILLOWS as shown above. I made the fronts and backs different on each pillow. I also love silks so I used silk on one side or part of one side only and saved lots of money.

These three pillows above are the same 3 neutral pillows shown on the bed above.
Here is another example:
Here are two more very neutral pillows in the living room.
Making one side of your pillows in a neutral will help you be able to use them anywhere, no matter how many times you change your decor. The colors I am using now are much softer than the prints you see above. However, since I made one side in an off white color, I don't have to spend money again for pillows. They are just on the other side.
Hope you enjoyed reading about my pillows. I think they add such a soft and cozy touch to a shabby chic style or cottage decorated room.
Thanks for stopping by!

The pelicans in this area are very tame and get hand fed frequently by local fishermen. This fellow had just landed and I caught him before he folded his wings.
This is all for tonight. Hope you all are doing well.
