The first find another rug (ok 4 rugs) Remember this one - Antique Russian Soumak
(did I tell you I paid $50 and it appraised for $4500!!!).
I found this Heriz made in India for $12.00
appaised for $1500
Then at Goodwill I found these large tribal Kilims by Uzbek weavers in the central Afgan region around the city of Maimana. These are easily recognizable by their simple patterns of diamonds & triangles, in bold reds, oranges, blues, & browns all using vegetable dies.
$18.00.. Yes for all THREE
Value between $300-$500 a piece!
Then I spotted this odd looking shelf thingy that I figured would look quite fetching with some of my old bottles that I collect.... yes something else I collect (don't judge me)! It was painted an ugly red and black so I resurrected it turquoise green and burnt umber - then this weekend I saw another one and found out it's from the 1950's... who knew!
Paid $15.00 - value $50.00
And finally - this beautiful very aged sterling & turquoise ring from the 1950's. Most all of my turquoise is a very dark green color because of it's age, so I couldn't pass this one up - even with all it's little cracks... just like me!
It's been a very productive week - in more ways then one!

Jerry- the problem with going with me is I've often wrestled with fellow friends for the same item. :)
Donna - oh my how could you leave them behind... I feel a tear dropping.
Sooz, great finds, and I'm laughing to myself because I'm a fellow junkie like you.
Today I did a dumpster dive..
someone threw out a real wicker ( you know todays are made of some fake stuff) this is fancy old and an ugly painted dark green.. I'll take care of the poor thing.. will paint it back to it's white.. and post when done. BJ Have fun ...
OMG... the rug gods have been Smiling upon you too in your Goodwill Hunting Forrays I see! I too found that plethora of Exotic Rugs while Goodwill Hunting and curbside on Bulk Garbage Day... hard to believe anyone would part with these Artistic Masterpieces and yet I'm SO glad that most people seem to be absolutely oblivious to the value so that we can 'Score' these amazing Found Treasures and have a bragfest and outlet to justify our addictions. *Winks* I probably need a Persian Rug & Junquing Intervention, but at least I know I'll be in good Company. We can go to the 'Meetings' together! *LOL* "Hi... I'm Dawn and I'm an Incurable Collection & Junquer..."
Dawn... The Bohemian
SZQ - as one 'collector' to another - now that is a treasure trove you have there. So good to be able to rescue such great stuff. Go well and enjoy your finds. B
