Labor Day Weekend and Andrew's Birthday

We have been wanting to make a trip back up to Lock Haven, PA for a long time now, just for the fun of it.  So we decided it was Labor Day weekend or never.  They have Labor Day Regatta races down the Susquehanna River and a fair that whole weekend, so it gave us a good excuse to go.  We left Saturday morning, had a nice drive, loved driving north through PA along the Susquehanna, and seeing the Amish again.  We were staying in Williamsport, so we first stopped there and got checked in to the hotel, then headed to Lock Haven.  It was so fun to drive around town again.  It was fun to see Alex remembering things.  Analeigh didn't remember a thing, but she sure loved it there.

Can you tell how hot it was?

Here they come!

Scott and Abigail

When the kids were on this ride, a huge storm came blowing through. We even heard there were tornado warnings.  We took off to find shelter and finally had to huddle inside one of the craft show tents to wait out the worst of it.  It blew through pretty fast, but it was a little intense for about 15 minutes.

On Sunday, Andrew's birthday, we went to church in our old branch.  It was so fun to visit.  After church we went to the park right by the river for a picnic and cupcakes.  It was very muggy and buggy and hot, so we didn't stick around there for too long.  We watched a few boats race and then we decided to go back to the hotel and swim and have cupcakes there.

We took his presents from the Sims' with us to the hotel, so he opened those on his birthday.  (We left ours at the house.)  He got a gift card to Toys R Us (which we used to buy a really fun train...that Abigail keeps trying to swipe from him) and a very handsome sweater and shirt from Grandma Sims, and a car and Goldfish crackers from Aunt Melissa and fam...Andrew says thanks everyone!

We stopped by the Little League World Series fields in Williamsport on our way out of town.
We opened presents at home on Thursday because we got home around dinner/bedtime on Monday night, then Tuesday night was Scouts, and Wednesday I had book club at our place...soooo, Thursday it had to be.  He didn't mind waiting :-) .  We gave him a dump truck and a little red car and two balls (balls are his FAVORITE thing!)  He got some cute, cute clothes and fun cars from Grandma and Papa.  Thank you Grandma and Papa!

Andrew is ONE!!!

Andrew turned one last month, on September 4th.  I took him in for his 1 year old check up and he is 20 pounds 5 ounces and 28 inches tall.  He is super snuggly.  We LOVE to get hugs from him.  Even my friends love to hold him because they know he is good for a cuddle.  Andrew has 6 teeth (4 on top, 2 on bottom) with his one year old molars trying to push through currently (so that will make 10 teeth when they're all in!).  He is not walking yet, but I'm in no hurry for that.  He Army crawls around everywhere, and he is speedy!  He pulls up and stands and he has even taken a few steps with the walker toy.  It should be soon that he's running around here.  I would like for him to stay my cuddly baby boy though =-) .  We laugh with him every day.  Peek a boo is has favorite game to play.  He says mama and dada and milk.  He holds one finger up when we say "how old are you?" . He signs milk, more, and eat/food.  He is an impatient eater, so lately we have really been pushing the signs to give him another way to express himself rather than demanding by yelling.  He likes to feed himself, which makes for messy mealtimes.  Abigail and Andrew can really get each other going...they like to sit in the van and try to match pitches (aaahhhhhh)...and hold it. NOisY!  It makes us laugh at the same time as driving us bonkers.  Oh, but we sure love this kid.
