Lucky Dip Week

We have another 5 Saturday month, which means just one thing...
LUCKY DIP WEEK
...and Lucky Dip Week means a Guest Designer
We are delighted to welcome our Sponsor  for this month, the lovely
Tara

Our topic for this challenge is
Little Ones
You may interpret this in any way you choose... babies, children, small elements on your card... whatever your imagination dictates.
Here are our examples!

I made it using the Tiny Hearts die from Paper Smooches die cut from cardstock blended with 4 shades of distress ink for a gradient effect.  Lightly drawn large pencil heart was then filled with my "little ones" and erased before finishing with a sentiment from Oh Happy Day by Avery Elle on vellum.

This one uses a newly released stamp and die set from
Clearly Besotted: Baby Shower
Uniko Studio: Sweet Baby sentiments
Ribbon & pearls from my stash

For a baby boy:  Kaisercraft stamps with an Avery Elle sentiment and some twine.

There are lots of 'little ones' on this card...the tiny hearts are the waste from a large die from Simon Says Stamp.
Even more are apparent here when the envelope is open.
There are lots of little gems too! The scalloped edging is from a Lawn Fawn die.
The envelope was created from a Spellbinder die, here's a little video showing how!
There are additional cards to inspire you on our personal blogs, just click on our names to be taken directly to them.
We are looking forward to seeing you!

Week 120 Theme

This week is theme week at Less Is More and we hope you enjoy the choice.  We know you will come up with some fabulous creations.  We want to see cards with

Cats and/or Dogs

We want to see cards with your favourite pet or both. We know you will all use your imagination.  Here are our cards for this week.

I'm really sorry if I've missed visiting you last week I had a nightmare of a week at work so have only managed one card this week.

After a very busy week at work I managed to put together this little card with a very cute image from Lili Of The Valley.  This is one of my favourites.  It's simply coloured in with FlexMarkers and mounted on to bright pink card.  The ribbon from Stampin Up finishes it off.  I even managed not to do any stiching on it!!!

Chrissie
First of all, I was delighted to see that you wouldn't let me get away with a card that was not exactly one layer last week... you've obviously all been well schooled!
Many apologies, but I did want to showcase another of our sponsor's images... I was summoned to look after a little man who had conjunctivitis and couldn't go to Nursery and so being at  my daughter's (with my hands full) I didn't have the opportunity to make another!
OK... grovel over!

For this card, I used an image from Rubber Stampede (£1) from the NEC a while back, and made a hugs and kisses panel using some Kaisercraft grunge letters. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches...well mainly! I used the word 'smooches' to make the word 'pooch' by masking the beginning and end of it and then adding the P with a pigment liner pen.

Another simple card using just a few die-cuts and a stamp. The cat and the window are from Memory Box (I think), the sentiment is from Paper Smooches. I cut a cloud shape to use as a mask when sponging the sky, which was layered behind the window. We used to have a cat who would sit for hours like this one!
There are a few more cat and dog cards on my personal blog, I'd love you to pop by to look at them.

We can't wait to see what you come up with!

Week 119 One Layer

This week it's everyone's favourite.. One Layer Cards and this week we would like you to use a
Coloured Card Blank
Yes that's right, none of your boring, white, ivory, black or kraft card blanks we want to see you add some colour.  Here are our cards for this week...

This is a watercolour stamp, which was first stamped using white craft ink and then the image coloured with watercolour pencils in a variety of shades on a dark blue base. The shades were blended using a water brush. I really love the effect.

This is another stamp from our sponsor this month Acid Drops and Whatnots. Having had  longstanding problems with my back, I can empathise with the sentiment on this one.
If you haven't yet checked out the wonderfully whimsical images available, do hop over there to have a look.

For my first card I am using the Need For Speed set from Stampin Up.  I simply stamped it using my stamp-a-majig and the coloured it with a couple of red flexmarkers. The Sentiment is also from a set from Stampin Up.

My second card uses the fabulous new set from Clearly Besotted, Honeycomb.  They are stamped onto a pale blue pearl card base .  The sentiment is from the same set.
I kept both cards really simple to ensure the colour was the main element.

We can't wait to see what you come up with!
Let's have a colouful week!

Week 118 Colour

Happy May!
A new month and a new Sponsor!
We are delighted to have Karen from Acid Drops and Whatnots as our sponsor for May.
Lots of you may not have seen the wonderfully whimsical stamps produced by this fun new company. We are sure you'll love the humour and fabulous images.

This is what they say about themselves
Acid Drops & Whatnots is the brainchild of friends Karen and Niki, who between them have over 30 years experience in the craft industry as designers, teachers, retailers and demonstrators. Their stamps sets feature a cast of characters to suit all occasions, humorous and fun, slightly tart, never cruel but definitely not sweet.

All our stamp sets are jam packed with images, quips, quotes and greetings providing excellent value for money. Designed to give you plenty of mix and match combinations within each set, the sets can be mixed and matched to give you an endless variety of card designs.

Our stamp sets are made in the UK from high grade photo polymer resin and are crystal clear and non yellowing. They are durable, tear resistant and have a naturally sticky back for good adhesion to clear stamp blocks and provide outstanding images.
For our
Colour Challenge
This month we would like you to choose TWO opposite colours from this Colour Wheel

My first card uses the colours Yellow-Green and Violet-Red and I have kept it very simple with a bright card base and a simple sentiment from Penny Black (Friendship T for Transparent).  The Butterfly is from Memory Box and the papers Stampin Up

My second card uses Violet and Yellow and some fabulous polka washi tape... The die is also from Memory Box and the sentiment from Stampin Up.  I've added some stitching with my machine too.

My first card uses stamps from Acid Drops and Whatnots' One out of Three Stamp set and the opposite colours Blue-Violet and Orange.
She's quite a cheeky lady here, as I chose to colour her as though she is wearing stockings and no drawers. She can of course be coloured as though she is wearing Harvest Festivals...ie large knickers, (where all is safely gathered in) and no stockings! She struck me as the type of character who just might have orange hair too!

My second card uses the colours Violet  and Yellow Green.
The stamp is from Rubber Stampede coloured with SU Markers before stamping and the background is also a stamp from Stampin' Up, now retired. The sentiment is from SU Teeny Tiny Wishes.

Week 117 - Sketch

Sketch #9

This week we have a sketch for you drawn by Jen.
It's simplicity itself, so to add a little constraint, we ask that the card stays in this orientation.  Remember we still want to see plenty of white space.

For this card I used my new handyman dies from Dienamics, piecing them with kraft and silver card to give a little greater authenticity. They are threaded on a length of kraft twine from Stampin' Up. The sentiment is an old favourite from a Happy Everything set from Inkadinkadoo.
The sentiment label was cut using a pennant die from Spellbinders, cutting part way through  from notched end then reversing it out of my Cuttlebug, turning the die around the other end of the sentiment and then cutting from that end to the middle and back.
There is a little tutorial for adapting die-cuts here.
This is a little different... I decided to make the bisected rectangle from the sketch into apertures. For these I used a square Nestie, cutting it out completely for the top aperture and cutting it part way and then reversing as in the above process to make the rectangle beneath. The leaves are from a super Memory Box die and this is its first outing! The sentiment is from Stampin' Up.

For my first card I have used my first ever embossing folder from Cuttle-bug along with a strip of ribbon and a button from Stampin UP.  Keeping it really simple.  I have also distressed the edges of the panel.

My second card uses my newest bit of stash, the  Mr Moustache collection from Pink Petticoat... I simply added the sentiment across the middle and cut out another moustache and raised it a little.  The fabulous matching papers decorate the inside.

We hope you enjoy this challenge and can't wait to see what you come up with.
