So glad to see that some of my sweet blog friends have found me! I still have lots to do on here, it's like learning all over again.
The closer it gets to Christmas the more I keep re-decorating. Every time I see a picture I like, I have to do some changing.
How many of you have been posting on Pinterest? I love that site but gee you could be on the computer forever with that site. But, oh the pictures on there, they are wonderful!
Very, very cold here today but the rainy sleet we got yesterday took a lot of the pretty snow away.
At least there is still some on the ground, so much prettier than without it!
Be back again this coming week!

It has been a very long time...........
This is my third attempt to try and revive this old blog of mine and make a post. I know it has been over a year since I last posted but I am running into many road blocks. Let me see if I can do this one. If anyone is still out there, please let me know if you see this!

Why I choose the name I did.
This post is in response to Karen's request http://mycolonialhome.blogspot.com that we post how and why we named our blogs.
First of all I just realized that I just passed my 3rd year of blogging.
I wrote my first post on September 1, 2009. I had no idea that it was that long ago.
A lot has changed since then.
I have always loved primitive and antiques and we used to go to auctions almost weekly. Well after awhile you need to let go of some of your collection so I rented space in several local antique malls. (That gave me an excuse to keep going to auctions)!
Then about 10 years ago I rented a space in a little antique mall that we could man ourselves. We could set our hours and lock up if there was a conflict. Along with antiques we also carried textiles, candles and other country accessories. Since the shop was small I made sure to keep it fresh and did a complete change in it's appearance every season. And so it was called Country Seasons. When deciding on a blog name that one was taken. So I choose Simply Country Seasons. And that is how it all started.

I made it the whole way to the finish line.
Saturday I went with two friends to the Quailcrest Farm Fest.
I kept forgetting to take pictures. Here is a picture from last year when I met up with Lauren from (Rugs and Pugs) in Alice's booth
(A day in the life). We are all the same except I don't have that much hair right now.
I also ran into Julie Butler from (Plum Run Creek) there.
My next post I will tell you how I picked the name of my blog from Karen's (My Colonial Home) suggestion.
Until then,
Linda

It has been so long but I am back and feeling great!
Actually I haven't posted since April. I think all of my Chemo treatments really took a tole on me. The fatique was something I thought I would never get over. Two different times my treatments had to be postponed and I had to go in for blood transfusions and once for platelets.
Finally in mid June I was finished and looked forward to being with family and friends for the 4th of July.
But the week before the holiday I was on a very rare outing with a friend and I fell in a store and broke my left shoulder. Luckily a smooth break right under the ball of the shoulder and didn't require pins or any surgery. Just lots of Pain in the beginning, a sling 24/7 and sleeping in a recliner for almost 8 weeks. When I was allowed I exercised it at home and skipped physical therapy.
Oh, BTW, you should see how many hats I have now. I started out with winter hats and now have a ton of straw hats and baseball caps and Fedora's! My hair is coming back pretty well now, maybe an inch long in some places. This has been a whole other experience.
Finally in August I was able to get around the yard better and pull some weeds. My husband followed me around everywhere, he was so afraid I would fall again. I gave him even more gray hair, if that is even possible.
Anyhow, after the shoulder healed I got back to rug hooking with a vengence (pictures to follow) and I have lots of fall outings planned. Favorite time of year like so many of you.
This Sunday I am doing a 5K walk/run (or sit) with my daughters and friends for the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Ohio.
I have so badly neglected some other forums that I am on and I intend to change that too. So many good friends that I have met on these groups have sent me hugs and prayers and I love them for it. I know it is why I am doing so well.
I found that it was easy to keep up with everyone on FB and if it was too hard to type or my energy was too low or even if my attitude was poor I could usually click LIKE easy enough.
I started spreading a little Fall around the house yesterday and picked up some Mums today. I have been so inspired by reading all the great magazines and seeing every body's pictures of your homes.
I will leave you with a pic of one of my finished rugs.

Finally a finish
Thanks to all of you who commented on my last post. I really debated whether or not to post about my illness but now I am glad that it is done.
Jan if you are reading this thanks for telling me about being a 20 year survivor.
Ovarian cancer is just not spoken about very often. We need to change that.

Well here is where I left off with my rug in September. I just drew a pumpkin on linen and began.
It took me till just a couple weeks ago to pick up the hook again.
I wanted to be ahead for next Fall!
Here is the finished rug except for the binding. Oh, did I tell you,
I don't think I am crazy about binding.
Gee, that is hard on your fingers.
I started on a pattern from Buttermilk
Basin called Saltbox Row.
Thanks for stopping by, will see you again soon.

My life has taken a new path temporarily
This is the jewelry that I am sporting these days. Since I last posted about not feeling well I had emergency surgery in October for a ruptured colon due to diverticulitis which also gave me a colostomy.
This teal ribbon however represents Ovarian Cancer. A couple days after surgery I found that the path report showed that hiding there behind my abscessed colon was this awful disease.
I don't want to bore you with all of the details but after a short recuperation I began Chemo in November. I have had 3 treatments at 3 week intervals and now am awaiting another surgery in February to reconnect my colon and have a hysterectomy. This is all backwards but what the two surgeons felt was the best way to go. After that I will resume Chemo.
Many of you already know of most of this and I so appreciate all of your good wishes and prayers.
I have been wanting to resume blogging for some time but I just felt I needed to put all of this out there first.
I was losing my hair starting 2 weeks after my first treatment but now it has tapered off. I cut it short and sometimes can get buy without wearing a hat. Not when it is freezing out though! I am going to see about a wig soon.
My main problem I am dealing with as a side effect is the neuropathy in my hands and feet. The tingling in my fingers makes it hard to feel the keys on the keyboard, pick up a needle or even hold the hook to pull loops. But I have been back to hooking lately. I will post pic of what I have done soon.
Thanks to all of you bloggers who have been posting so regularly, I don't always comment but oh do I enjoy reading all that you show and tell!
I will see you soon.

I have been side lined this week
Just when I was getting the hang of my new "toy" I missed the whole last week of September in bed sick!
Still working on filling some photos in my albums. I just finished this Sunflower one from Needl' Love. I think I was standing on one foot on a slope when I took this........the rug really does look straight in person!
I need to get busy on some winter designs.
Hopefully will be be back real soon.

This post has to be quick!
Oh, boy you should see me trying to manuever on my new lap top computer..........not pretty! I am trying so hard to get used to doing this without a mouse. Plus everything on this screen looks so different.
Yes, trying to learn some new tricks here.
I don't even have any pictures loaded on here yet and I hate to post without them.
Going to Malabar Farm tomorrow for The Spirit of Friends Show. I was there last year and loved it.
If any of you are going and you recognize me please say hello.
I will be back tomorrow, hopefully.

It's time for a new computer
So sad but true.........my old computer is dying. I picked out a new one today.....a laptop and I should be able to pick it up tomorrow. We recently changed our cable service and now have wireless so the timing was right. I love downloading pictures and have just reached my limit on the old one.
I have been having trouble uploading them and that is my excuse for not posting in such a long time!
I plan to pick my Bittersweet this week and then I can take some pics of my plain and simple Fall decorating. I just tried to load a picture but it just wouldn't and I am too impatient to wait any longer.
I will be back in few days with some Fall at my house and a couple of hooked rugs that I have finished.

My Sheep Hooked Rug is Done

Just a quick post to say that my very first hooked rug...........Lexington Proddy Sheep is finally done and hanging up!
I am officially "hooked" on rug hooking. I got the pattern and took the class for this rug from
Alice at her studio.
I have another one on my frame now plus I am binding a little mat sized one that I did with some scraps. Have a couple more planned to do........
see I told you I was "hooked"!
We are having a break in our weather today, only supposed to go to 88 degrees.
Will be back soon with some more photos.
Have a great day everyone.

Dog Days of Summer

Well, it has been here at our house. First, because of this week's awful heat and second because we have two of our Grand Dogs this week while their parents are vacationing.
Gracie and Summer
After playing in the yard for awhile they try to see who can be first inside to the air conditioning.

I know a lot of people are starting to wish for Summer to be over and for Fall to arrive but as hot as it is......NOT ME! We had such a cold long Winter this year that I am not ready for it again anytime soon. I love Fall but I know what comes after that!
When it is this hot I just stay put and stay in where it is cool. And I have been working on my rugs. I am putting on the binding on this rug right now.

Then I will finish this one. Pictures to follow when they are finished.

Try and stay cool this week end.

We meet again.....Finally!

I don't know where the past months have gone but..................they have disappeared.
Since my last post I have had far too many Doctor visits and repair work done on this body.
No...not any face lifts or lipo.........just routine maintenance.
Are any of you due for a mammogram or Colonoscopy? If so, get them done!
Remember back in May when Linda and Audrey from APP traveled to Susie's Shop Bittersweet Treasures in Rochester NH and this was the prize for the winner of the drawing?
Well, I was the lucky winner and here is this fabulous bird house in my yard. Thanks again Susie for drawing my name.

I have always loved collecting little shoes and now my obsession is into garden shoes too.
I love planting old work boots..big or small. I even have some little Mary Janes with hens and chicks too.

My new passion is rug hooking and I was able to go to the hook in at the Kingwood Center in Mansfield that so many other have blogged about. Soon I will post some pictures of my humble beginnings! Yes, Lauren and Alice....I really will!
Until then.........bye for now.
