For my project this week, I'm sharing a tag that I created (quickly too!) featuring Tim Holtz distress paint including the
new metallics! Not just that - but I'm sharing how-to with you as well. Since it is anything goes this week, I'm using a paper towel as a key tool to help me get the color results I want from my distress products. I love the results!
First, coat the tag with the distress paint color of your choice, and dry with a heat tool. Then coat generously with a metallic color and blot dry with a paper towel, removing some of the excess. If you want a bit more color, add another thin coat of the base color (
broken china in my case) and once again blot it off with a paper towel.
The paper towel is great because it adds texture and I love the final result! Of course, this is just the beginning! Now it is time to add texture.
I do love the new
Tim Holtz Compass texture fade - great for a tag! Once I embossed the tag I added ink in
black and
gathered twigs.
To add another element to my tag, I
stamped "air mail" and colored with distress stains, once again blotting with my paper towel to remove some of the color.
Now that these two elements are complete, it is time for some embellishing and stitching!
I used some of the new
Sunrise Sunset mechanicals and
chit chat stickers to finish things off - and I love the finished result. My tag looks so aged, and it reminds me to use my paper towels more often with my distress coloring! I hope you've enjoyed my project how-to, and that you'll join in this week's challenge too.
