Mount Panorama

I born and raised in Bathurst and have a affinity with the Mount. I used to drive around it all the time as a youngster. It's a bit of a 'thing' in town when you first get your drivers license. I was pretty stoked when it made its way into Forza. Also thought it would be a great way to test out the DVR on the Xbox One.

Indie Game: The Movie

This post is going to be a little different to my usual design and portfolio posts. I watched Indie Game: The Movie last night and it has really stuck a cord with me. Essentially it was like watching myself for the past 8 years. Now I've come no where near the success of the guys in the film. If anyone does read this will attest that the industry has had a real kick in the balls over the past 3 to 4 years. I've worked for many studios all but one are still trading. I've been and seen friends be made redundant. I've then scraped by trying to be an indie developer also and all the while never really gotten over the fact that I really want to make video games despite the external pressures and stress of life and thinking there has to be an easier way. I'm sure most of the people that will read this all have similar stories.

 I watched the film with my girlfriend and her sister and they found it really depressing. I actually found it very inspiring. They thought they worked and sacrificed too much. I was like I would kill to be in the trenches making a great game. They thought the guys in it needed metal help. I felt like I knew them as peers and contemporaries. I'm no critic and am actually pretty late to watching this movie but if you are a game dev, dating or family member of then this movie will explain a lot about what makes us tick.
