CHF Challenge CHF01 - Anything Goes

Hello!  Welcome to Cornish Heritage Farms' first challenge (CHF01).  The design team will be working together to spotlight a different theme and would love it you join us for the fun.

The theme today:  Anything Goes!  Create anything you like with a favorite CHF set or image.

Beauty

It's a tough call, but Ornamental Beauty is probably an all time favorite of mine.  I stamped the large flower multiple times on Solar White cardstock with Versamark ink.  I heat set with clear embossing powder.  After it had cooled a bit, I sprayed the cardstock with two colors of glimmer spray (a brown and teal blue).  I distressed a bit with ink and added a few other lovelies to round out the design.

Simple and well, fits the challenge!

I'd love it if you stopped by to see what the other designers are posting today:

    Thank You

This was always a favorite set of mine, called Ornamental Beauty, originally designed by the beautiful and talented Julia Stainton.  I'm excited to share this project with you today with a hint of shabby chic.  I reused some corrugated cardboard, roughed-up and painted for texture.  And there's a bit of shimmer to my big ornamental flower from the Glimmer Glaze.

Thanks for stopping by and I'll be back tomorrow with another new CHF project.

    CHF Sneak Peek #1

Hello!  It seems very much like coming home today, as I write about a Cornish Heritage Farms upcoming release.  CHF was my first design team.  I was thrilled and excited... and more than a touch nervous about creating for them.  I stayed with CHF for years until the original owners closed their doors.

Today, the new Cornish Heritage Farms owners are prepping for the first rubber stamp release.  A few things to remember:

    CPS Sketch # 199 - The {Stamps} of Life

Hello!  I have a new CPS project to share with you today.  The sponsor for this week is The {Stamps} of Life.  I just adore the images in each set!  The font is just FAB!

    Be Mine

This was a fun and fast project for me.  The sentiment was stamped on the lined patterned paper from Tickled Pink (My Mind's Eye) paper pad.  I die-cut the heart with one of the Nestabilities heart dies.  The heart was brushed with glitter glue and then covered with vintage glass glitter for a sugar-coated shimmer.  It's a perfect Valentine sentiment too, don't you think?

Be sure to visit the CPS blog for more designer inspiration and details on how you can participate in this week's sketch!

    Thanks for visiting,
    Lisa

    CPS Sketch # 195 - The {Stamps} of Life... Take 2!

Hello! I'm back to share a second design for this week's CPS Sketch! This week our sponsor is the {Stamps} of Life! I really couldn't wait to create with this second stamp set (Holly4Christmas)... it's amazing in every way.  I love the font for the sentiments, the images, everything!

    Holly Jolly Christmas

I split the sentiment on my main panel (carefully inking - and covering the part I didn't want to be inked with cellophane tape).  I embossed and then colored with Copic markers.  The strand of lights was embossed, colored and carefully trimmed to adhere to the front of my card.

The holly leaves were pieced with some of the (perfectly themed - if I do say so myself) patterned paper and used as an embellishment.
    Thanks for visiting!

    Missing You...

Thank you to all the service men and women that support and keep us safe.  I can't thank you enough for all you do.

I created this card from the We Remember set from Cornish Heritage Farms.  I'm really proud of this set because of it's sentimental value to my family.

    Missing You

The card is so simple.  I left it unadorned, paired with Basic Grey Boxer patterned paper for the perfect masculine card.

The envelope image in this set is one of my favorite.  The actual envelope was one my dad had saved from when he was in the service - a letter from my mom about home.  I like the open lines on the envelope to add a handwritten message to cards.  My handwriting isn't the best, but it's so wonderful to be able to add something heartfelt, right on the front of the card.

    Thank you for visiting,

    Mirror, Mirror On the Wall...

Birthdays are just another day for me. But, I love to make them a big deal for friends and family.  A new release for Cornish Heritage Farms this Tuesday is an amazing set in the Rummage Bin line called A Royal Birthday.  Here's one of the projects I created with the set...

    Lying Mirrors:

The image itself is the vintage, delicate frame with the sentiment "do not Believe the Mirror it is Lying" inside of it.  To create the frame, I stamped the image with Black Soot Distress ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I carefully trimmed out the image and used a scalpel to remove the center.  I cut a small piece of metal sheet and adhered behind the frame to make my own mirror of sorts.  Then, to make the sentiment tag, I used cellophane tape to cover the frame portion of the image and inked the image.  I removed the tape and stamped on the tag shape.  Super simple!

The set will release on Tuesday, October 20th - so be sure to check out the CHF gallery for more inspiration.

    On the Desk

On the Desk is not just the pile and masses of scraps and stamps (haha!)... it's a new set designed by the fabulous Julia Stainton.

    Just My Type

This is a fast and fun design.  The Vintage Text Scrapblock adds the typewriter charm that works really well with the sentiment.  And what's prettier than Lemonade Basic Grey paper?

    We Remember...

Happy Memorial Day! It's such a special time to remember and honor those that have bravely served our nation and those that continue to do so.

I feel very blessed to share with you another creation from the We Remember stamp set from Cornish Heritage Farms. The set has so much meaning to me and my family - but I think others can use the images to thank, honor and remember those that serve.

I asked Carolyn Hartwig (heartwig on Splitcoaststampers) if she would like to receive a copy of the stamp set I created - and if she thought she'd be able to use it in her cause. You see... Carolyn has been working diligently since June of 2007 to collect cards to send to those in the millitary in Cananda so that they have something to send home to their families for special occasions - occasions that they are missing by being in other areas of the world protecting our freedom. To read more about Carolyn's work, please see this thread on SCS: Canadian Military Need Our Support. Carolyn has also raised awareness for those that have died while serving in this thread: Cards of Condolence for our Fallen Soldiers.

She graciously accepted and has a card design that I thought I would share here on her behalf.

    Bravery Honor Valor:
I just love this design! It's simple lines are perfect. And the top ID tag is popped up on the cardfront for added dimension.

As always, thanks for stopping by!

    In Remembrance and Honor

I couldn't wait to share more about the inspiration of this set with you. I hope you don't mind...

    We Remember:

The images on this project have a great deal of meaning for my family.

First, the "We Remember" sentiment itself is a tribute to memorials. In the 1990's, my family had the honor of seeing the traveling Vietnam Veterans Memorial in St. Louis. It was not uncommon to see people looking through the names for their loved ones, pressing a piece of newsprint paper against the Wall's granite surface and taking a rubbing of the name, as though they have a piece of their family back with them again. The sentiment is a tribute to this.

The second image is in honor of my father's cousin, Lt. Harold Dale Meyerkord. Dale was the first Naval officer killed in the line of duty. Because of valor in duty, he was remembered through the naming of a frigate, the USS Meyerkord.

The emblem image is from a patch from the Navy, which you can see at this link HERE in its original form.

Thanks for stopping by and letting me share,

    Thank you...

I thought I'd share with you a little bit more about how the We Remember set came together. All the images were created from memories and mementos from our family.

    Thank you for your service:

I just loved this picture. The handsome man on the left is my Grandpa. He was in the army in the early 1950's. I don't think he enjoyed any of it, because he missed his wife and wanted to be home. I can't blame him one bit (my grandma was a sweet and loving person). But, he sent pictures home that were smiling and lighthearted... with letters that told all about their minutes apart. In fact, one picture I found was of him reading a letter, and he wrote on the back of it that he's smiling because it's from his sweet little wife.

Grandpa is still just that handsome and one of my all-time favorite people in the world. I love you, Grandpa.

So... thank you for all those serving in the military. I can't thank you enough for our freedom.

    Thanks for stopping by,

    We Remember...

I am really excited to share this post with you. I've been working for a long time to create this (and had much to learn). And the date is finally here!

I have been lucky enough to work with Cornish Heritage Farms for the last 2 years. In that time, I've learned a great deal. And today, I'm proud to share with you my first stamp set.

    We Remember

This set is created in honor of all those that have served or are serving to preserve our freedom.

So many of the images have a great deal of meaning to me. With each project, I'll share with you the inspiration and meaning of the images.

One of my first projects is a sympathy card:

The symbolism of a single dog tag (or ID tag, as I think they are referred to now) is very significant. Each soldier is issued two tags, one secured to a shorter chain. When a soldier falls in service, one tag stays with them and the other is removed and returned to the family. It goes without saying that a loved one never wants to see a single tag come home without it's mate.

In loving memory - for those that have served and fallen in support of our freedom...

Thanks for stopping by! I'll have more projects for you with this set. And for more inspiration, please stop by the CHF Gallery for some amazing projects. Julia Stainton has been hard at work!

    Thanks,
    lise

    Special note:
The dog tag image was created from my father's dog tags. Because I really didn't want to put the thought in my head about single tag, I used the Copic blender pen to remove ink and make this a generic tag without the name details.

Bringing in the New Year - In Style!

It has been ages since I had time to create with all the holiday and family events we had over the last 4-5 weeks.  So, on New Year's Day, I decided to chain myself to my stamping desk and bar the door.

One of my first creations was a desk set for my kitchen.  It's a feeble attempt to be organized.  But I HAVE to try, right?

    Granola Desk Set

The first portion of this set is a framed message board.

I stamped the Vintage Ledger Scrapblock™ on Simply Smooth White cardstock.  Next, I added "NOTES" to the top with the Playful Alphabet from the Kim Hughes Collection at CHF.  Finally, I stamped a couple of swirls from the Beautiful set from the Rummage Bin to complete the stamping.

It's all framed with Basic Grey Granola patterned paper - yummy!  And... I added a dry erase marker with a bit of magnet to the back of the frame so I could really leave notes for my family.  Very cool stuff!
The second portion of the set is a Jumbo Clip and a perpetual calendar - both to match.  Neither have any stamping on them, but I love the look of the dark browns and blues together.  Just what my kitchen needed!
    Thanks for stopping by!

Beautiful - and a personal note

I have a quick card I'd like to share with you today.

The Rummage Bin release last week was a fantastic set sized for inchie artwork.  I just love working with a 1" area.  Small, yes.  But packs a mighty punch!

Inchie Style (The Rummage Bin) by Cornish Heritage Farms

    Beautiful

This is truly a simply inchie style card at it's best.  The sentiment and the image are both from the set and work perfectly together to make a fast project.  I think this took about 10 minutes in total to create.  Nothing better than a fast card!

    Giving Thanks

It's that time of year in which we reflect and join family to give thanks for the year.  Hard to believe it's November, isn't it?  I created this card just for the joy of it and wanted to share with you.

I'm a frequent flyer at Ellen Hutson's store... you know what I'm talking about, right?  ;-)  Well, I saw this image and knew I'd make good use of it.

    Give Thanks:
It's hard to tell from the image above, but I embossed an oval from the Nestabilities set first.  I stamped the image with Espresso ink and colors with Copics and Prismacolor pencils.  I highlighted the whole thing with the At You Spicca pens too.  It is so shimmery in real life.  Overall, it's a simple card, but I love that the Harvest Candle image speaks for itself.  No need for pomp and circumstance.

So, what are you thankful for?

I appreciate anyone that stops by to share my creative journey.  You are a blessing.

Thanks, as always, for stopping by!

    Holiday Organization

I can't claim to be a perfectly organized person.  I go into every new endeavor with the intention of being organized.  A new school year starts and I purchase extra school supplies, only to forget where I tucked them.  Or keeping track of the family's appointments and schedules, only to forget to fill in the blanks... you know the drill.

    Winter Vintage Christmas Journal

I found this notebook at Target and only covered the front.  I sewed the plaid layer and the white lace to the main panel.  I kept the embellishments on this fairly simple since I'll be using this and taking it with me... I didn't want anything that would rip off or damage the cover.

I intend to keep notes on everything this holiday.  Things I'll be noting:
    • Shopping lists (colors, types, part numbers and sizes)
    • Menus
    • Holiday baking (cookies, cakes and candies - what we loved and worked well, so we can repeat)
    • Grocery lists
    • Schedules and Events
    • Card-making (dates to work, supply lists / shopping lists, design ideas)
    • Card list (mailing list, new addresses to note)
    • General checklists - I'm addicted to checklists... make the list and complete tasks!  Nothing better than a completed task.
How do you keep organized for the holidays?  I'd love to hear.

    Thanks for stopping by!

    CHF Challenge - Quick Cards

Hello!  It's Monday again... and I've not been a very good blogger lately.  I think it's a function of time for me... type on my computer or stamp?  I know what my preference is!  LOL!

This week's challenge was quick cards.  I am the QUEEN of layers.  The more the better, actually.  Complex cards that take hours to create are my forte!  So this challenge is meant to give me a swift kick.  Sometimes less is more and quick cards are really what most people create.

My card today uses a few of the Primitive Beginnings images from Lesley Langdon's Rummage Bin line at Cornish Heritage Farms.  I really love these images!  They have a unique way of blending together perfectly!

    Est. Home:

This card has a few layers (you didn't think I'd go cold turkey, did you?) and has stitching.  But it was fast!  I think in total, this took about 15 minutes (maybe less).  I stamped the Est. 1862 on the Granola (Vanilla Bean) patterned paper with Black Soot Distress ink and embossed.  Then, I stamped the Primitive House over it with Vintage Photo Distress ink.  I did it in this order, because I didn't want the lines of the house to show under the Est. image.  I glued and stitched... voila!  Fast card!

My computer's been acting up... or I'd link everyone that participated in this challenge... their blog links are on the sidebar of my blog.  These are the girls that will have a fantastic quick card to share and I can't wait to see what ideas they have brewing.

CHF Challenge - Blog Header Creations

Hello.  No... it's not Monday (at least I hope not!).  I had wanted to join the CHF weekly blog challenge, which we roll out on Mondays, but it was just not possible.  Our weekend was out of control... OK...I know...  which ones aren't?  LOL!

Even though it's not Monday, I was in for this challenge.  Our weekly challenges do not have a time limit, so if you are looking for a great creative jump start, head to the CHF Forums for some fun ideas.  I've used the out of the box Blogger templates for as long as I've had my blog and I really wanted to create my own Blog Header.  And it's really easy.  Honest!  I wouldn't lead you astray!

    Here's what I did...

    1. I cut a cardstock base of 3.75" x 9.75" and a black cardstock matte of 4" x 10".  I stamped and created the image I wanted, which is a Fall scene using the Primitive Beginnings set, from the Rummage Bin Collection.

    2. Once I was happy with the base image, I took a picture.  You'd get perfectly straight results from scanning, but I couldn't get complete technical cooperation on this one... and well, it won't hurt if it's not exact (in my opinion).

    3. I used Photoshop to edit the picture (shadows, etc.), just as I would my card creations.

    4. Then, to add my blog name, I used the Text tool and a very cool font.

    5. Resize according to the blog Header size.  The template I had called for the width to be 750 pixels, which I found specified when I opened the Header to edit (this wasn't something I knew inherently).

    6. Upload the picture and Voila!  It's that easy.

Since I know many people use readers or other feeds, here's my new blog header:

    So what do you think?

I just love this set... it's so sweet.  I used Fall colors and plan to change this out with the seasons now that I know how easy it is.  So, will you take the challenge to change with us?
The other fine ladies that participated in this challenge are:

    Kristine
    Jennifer
    Lesley

Thanks and I hope you'll get the blog banner bug with us!  Post here and let me know if you do!  I'd love to see what you create.

    Thanks for stopping by,
    lise

    Rummage Bin Challenge #2

Welcome back to Stamping Stadium! LOL!!!

The amazing Lesley Langdon (designer and stamp artist) issued another challenge.I can't pass up the opportunity to take that on from THE Iron Stamper herself!!!

Grit and determination to create the unique with a special ingredient...

Today's ingredient: Use the Ledger Me set and specifically create a project using the Book: sentiment and Book Binding stamp.

I'm just glad this isn't timed!!!

    Book List Fridge Magnet:
I had this magnet file in my stamping room for awhile and this challenge was the perfect use. I made this for when we head to the library this summer. I don't always grab a reminder card at the checkout desk. If I forget, I plan to write the date on the card to remember when we need to head back to return our library books. The kids love to go and this will be a great reminder for me to keep us on track.

The inside card is stamped identically on both sides so I plenty of space for my reminders.

Thanks, Lesley, for a fun challenge. I hope this fits the bill!!!

    Until next time,
    lise
