Arranged Marriages

Had an interesting conversation with a Hindu colleague today during lunch. I asked him how he got to know his wife ( as I heard his wife is one hot chick). To my surprise, he said that he went thru' an arranged marriage.

To Hindus, they believe that a guy and a gal's family status should match, and that's not all. They believe in some sort of horoscope/astrology and you gotta match this as well. This is determined when a person is born, what are the planets that are aligned. They also believe that one should match what the other is lacking - if one is high on certain attribute, ideally the other person should be low. They believe that opposite attracts and the likes repell. He was born in a some what "inauspicious" hour and he's supposed to find someone who's also born around that hour. It's really tough, and it took his parents 3 years to find the girl. Once they found her, they grabbed her. As his wife was quite pretty, she has about 50+ marriage proposals, and eventually picked him!

So interesting, din know such things still exists. Maybe I should go to an Indian astrologer and have my fortune told, see who can match my horoscope and hunt that person down! (Only for me, I have to do it myself without my parents' help)

A good side of arranged marriage... =)

Secret

Caught Secret on Friday nite, really a very nice show. I like it. The twist is refreshing, cute actresses, innovative plot, nice music.. =) Very romantic, innocent love story. =)

Been really busy with school and work. One thing it didnt dawn on me was that I have to do homework! Totally forgot about the issue of homework when i signed up for the course. Anyway, it'd do me good..i keep telling myself. As for work, really behind time, need to catch up before my boss kills me now that the dinner & dance is over.

Leading a hectic life, sometimes i go to sleep without dinner (sob...) and my mum was saying I look thinner. I should eat more (and healthly of course). Dont have time to go for facial, hair treatment and shopping with my current schedule. Hope things will die off after i completed a few urgent things, and I can get enough sleep. Need to have better time management skills....

A Sense of Emptiness when its Over

Yesterday marks the end of the D & D. Finally, all our hard work for the past 2 months have paid off. The event went well. =) Finally a big load off my mind when the Grand Lucky Draw is over and the GOH takes his leave. Can feel that I can breathe better.

Time really flies when the actual programme starts. From the co-ordination of the VIPs thru' walkie-talkies when they arrived to the actual programme of the night. Once the speech and awards presentation start, other performance items begin to follow suit. And time just flies. It is important to make sure that one item follows another and each item runs well. Luckily I have a team of good people to help me. Feedback on the D&D has been good and I'm glad. =)

Another major event over. Talked to a wise director after the event at the foyer, and he talked about how he also organised major events one after the other in his past job, and that usually after a major event is over, the people will feel a sense of emptiness and do not know what to do after that. Afterall, they've been hyped up for the past few months and have worked furiously on the project. I do feel that too. Just like how I feel after a major exam, and after graduation.

But now, it's time to pick up the pieces of my life from where I left off - reply the long overdued emails, pay off my credit card bills and add new friends on my MSN. And go for my well-deserved facial soon. =)

Then Mon, it's a new chapter again - with other new stuff to look forward to. =)
