Kukup
Woke up at 5.30am so that I can be at City Hall bus stop for my Division's day trip to Kukup. These are some of the places we visited in the one-day trip.
- Makan Breakfast at a coffeeshop at JB
Waited very long for our roti prata to come. Nothing spectacular.
- Batik Factory
Nothing much, just see how the prints get onto the batil, be it printed or hand-drawn.
-Pineapple Factory
Saw a real pineapple plant for the first time in my life! Quite like this stop, as you get to see the different kinds of pineapple, and that M'sia is doing R&D on different species of pineapple! A pineapple takes about 1 year from grow from the seed to fruit. Educational stop.
-Kukup
Went past a street selling traditional m'sian snacks and souvenirs on both sides. Din buy anything tho. Tour guide say Kukup is famous for their dry salted fish, dried shrimps and ikan bilis. But you can get such things in S'pore too leh. Took a ferry and visited a kelong. This is quite interesting, as we saw how they rear fishes, and even saw a horse-shoe crab! The shooting fish are interesting too, as when you put some food on the ledge/planks above them, they will shoot the food down and they did it really accurately!! The little boy who showed us to the kelong said there are about 2,000? people in Kukup, with more males than females. Took the ferry back to the main strip of Kukup. The sun was really scorching at this point. Really really hot and humid.
-Orchid Valley
Took a tram that brought us around this orchid plantation, quite a big place, but nothing much to see leh..only rows of orchids in pots from a far.
-Shopping at Juzco
We were given 2 hrs to shop here. Bought a Secret Recipe cake and did an express manicure for 15RM..
-Seafood lunch and Seafood DInner
About the same dishes - chilli crabs, spicy veg, fish, prawns, cuttlefish...most are spicy, i really shouldn't be taking them given my sore-throat.
Then it's back to the immagration - super duper stuffy at JB side..we use the thumb-print express to get our ways past quite fast at the Sg side. It's really glad to be home!
