You vs. the World

My new mantra for 2012

I came across the quote below this morning, and it really resonated with me.  Do you let others define your happiness and live as a victim, or are you living a life fulfilled and adding value to others? Leave comments below.

Tell everyone you know: "My happiness depends on me, so you're off the hook." And then demonstrate it. Be happy, no matter what they're doing. Practice feeling good, no matter what. And before you know it, you will not give anyone else responsibility for the way you feel-and then, you'll love them all. Because the only reason you don't love them, is because you're using them as your excuse to not feel good.

Garments

Jesse is on of my newest athletes in the Tu/Th 6PM Dick Nichols Relentless Outdoor Training class. She recently gave me her food log to look over and also showed me how the first few pages had motivational, thought-provoking quotes she had written. To preface, Jesse is an English teacher, hence her food log filled with quotes. I forewarned her that I would probably steal these quotes and include them on my blog since I am quote-obsessed.

"You are not inferior. You are not superior. You are simply YOU. You as a personality are not in competition with any other personality, simply because there is not another person on the face of the earth like you, or your particular class. You are an individual. You are unique. You are not 'like' any other person and can never become 'like' any other person. You are not 'supposed' be like any other person and no other person is 'supposed' to be like you."

"The word 'habit' originally meant a garment or clothing. Our habits are literally garments worn by our personality."

My garment is bright and colorful but does not fade or wear out fast. What does your garment look like?
