My Blue Blog....for now

So I changed the color of my blog to BLUE.
Perhaps I too have my blue days, but not in a sad way-just colorful. Have a bluetiful day.

PAINT PARTY FRIDAY

Thanks Eva and Kristin. I will be by all your blogs as well. Thumbs up to you.

First of all, it will be Vincent's (Van Gogh) birthday this Sunday the 30th of March and I gave myself 9 days to try and do one of his self-portraits and got done ahead of time. It is finished as best could be done and have it here to post.

Here's wishing Vincent a very Happy Early Birthday in which he would have been 124 years of artistic life. When last I did his self-portraits, we got to know each other very well which is why I call him  "Vincent."

I didn't think I could paint Vincent on my Ipad, but guess what...I surprised myself. Tried drawing it on the Ipad first, and once started it was impossible to stop. This is my contribution to him on his day, March 30.  His demise was just too soon, a mere 37 years old.

Each time I feel myself being inspired by "The Man", life takes a different direction. I go through my Van Gogh books, watch videos about him, read the letters from his brother Theo, read Vincent's letters to Theo and I'm lost in a paradise filled with questions about him and his sickness. Sorry my post is so long:(

This link sickness is a brief description of what his sickness might have been.

Here is Vincent's own self-portrait

I also had to paint on canvas and used acrylics, gouache, Pitt pens, molding paste, some gel.

A MISSION FOR NINE DAYS.....

....Until Vincent's birthday.

9 DAY VAN GOGH MISSION
March 30th. is Van Gogh's birthday.

I want to paint him again so a self-portrait that he did of himself will be selected.

In honor of his birthday I want to spend these 9 days "trying" to paint his face. I hope to paint him on canvas.

Back in 2012/2013 I had a MISSION and that was to do 12 of his self-portraits and I did.

Now it's only ONE (1) painting and 9 days to do it in. That means I need a canvas, acrylics, and 9 days of studio time starting today. I haven't decided on the face yet, but will have to do it quick.

I picked a bad time to get inspired again by this man, because it is now Spring and the garden is calling me. None the less I will do what my heart is asking.

If I fail, one just picks oneself up again and try again.

Wish me luck. I haven't used acrylics for a long time. It's been watercolors, and the Ipad. I don't think these would do him justice. It has to be vivid acrylics or oils and I really don't want to use oils. I do have gouache and perhaps will try those paints.

I've chosen 3 portraits and am not sure which one it will be:

I've actually painted this one before so it won't be this one. My version is below.

It's a lot of fun to try and paint the master's and I'm not infringing as it's been over a hundred years. It's okay to "copy" the master's or at least try to. Many people do  and they do a great job of it.

WISH ME LUCK and if I can't do this because of other issues-it will be put off until it can be done. I do want to try and finish before his b/day though.

There is no mission that is impossible, it's very possible to be able to complete this 9 day mission.

Van Gogh repeated in 2014

One of my treasured accomplishments was painting 12 of Van Gogh's self-portraits back in 2012. Here is a repeat of that post. I've added music to it for your enjoyment.

Ah Vincent, how you filled my soul as I painted you.
I was completely lost with each stroke. So much I learned about you during this time. Thank you.
