99 cents young adult romance: Young Witchcraft #kindledeal #99cents

3RD PLACE: Young/New Adult Short Story, International Digital Awards 2015

BLURB:

Rachel's secret would have Cotton Mather rolling over in his grave. She's been raised from an early age to use magic for good, despite her temptation to cast a spell against Phil the bully who can't stop teasing her.

Joe thinks Rachel is cool, especially when she weaves her healing magic spells on him, but he's got his own problems. It's not easy keeping Rachel safe from Phil's constant threats.

When Phil poisons Rachel, can love and little young witchcraft bring Rachel and Joe together or have years of Phil's bullying ruined their relationship for good?

EXCERPT:

Suzie bumped into Rachel's shoulder. Rachel nearly lost her balance, extended her leg, and regained her bearing. Thank the broomsticks Suzie's contact didn't start a bleeding episode.

"I'd be careful if I were you. Don't cross me."

"What you did was mean and you know it." Rachel squared her shoulders, despite the knots in her stomach.

Suzie narrowed her eyes.

"Is there a problem?" Joe approached, his arms crossed.

"You two losers deserve each other." Suzie rolled her eyes and walked off.

Rachel swallowed hard, pushing the hurt from Suzie's comment aside for now. Rachel glanced at Joe. "Anna's ankle is swollen. Can you help her out to her car?"

"Sure."

Rachel smiled her appreciation at Joe. He'd grown tall, over six feet and his green eyes sparkled like gems when the light caught them a certain way. His blond hair had darkened a bit to sandy blond, but he kept his hair in a nice neat cut. He often had a five o'clock shadow that she found incredibly attractive on him. Joe was lean and with thin muscles, and not an ounce of fat on him. He could tear up a refrigerator. Fruit, pizza, and celery were his favorite foods. He was as picky as a black cat about what he ate since he had a peanut allergy. Joe played on the football team as a tight end or a running back. His practice must have gotten over early tonight.

A part of her wanted to reach out for his hand like she did when they were kids, back when life wasn't so complicated, but something held her back. Hurt? Doubt? Lack of courage? She sighed. Her self-esteem had taken a big hit today, but she wanted to be a good friend to Anna so she brushed aside her anxiety. Now that Joe was here, Rachel could do anything.

99 cents contemporary romance: A Polish Heart #kindledeals #99cents #kindle

A Polish Heart
99 cent contemporary romance

BLURB:
Darrin Riverton, an architect from the United States is assigned to a challenging project which requires a trip to Poland. Sofia Buraczynski is assigned as his translator and his first sight of her heats his blood.

With Sofia as his guide, Darrin discovers Poland and many new things about himself, as well. When a chance is presented for him to remain in Poland, will he leave behind family and all that is familiar to follow his heart?

ENJOY THIS EXCERPT:

A tall, handsome man with broad shoulders, wearing a long-sleeved polo shirt, walked toward her holding a bouquet of poppies and orchids.

Her teeth nipped at her lower lip as she ran her eyes over this beautifully proportioned man, her body warming at the sight of him. He looked tough and lean, and his handsome face kindled with a sort of classical beauty she hadn't seen on a man before. His leonine stride radiated self-confidence. His hair was sandy blond in a short, neat cut and his cobalt blue eyes pierced her professional armor.

He stopped in front of her and held out his flowers. "Dzien dobry."

A wide grin crossed her lips and she dropped the sign she was holding. "Hello, Mr. Riverton."

A look of relief passed over his face. "You know, I practiced that phrase all morning on the plane."

"I admire the effort. Are the flowers for me?"

"Yes." His smile was full of pride.

Sofia took the flowers and held them up to her nose. "Freshly picked.

Thank you."

"You're welcome."

He paused and it grew awkwardly silent between them. Sofia realized for the first time in meeting a client, she had forgotten her professionalism. "Forgive my manners. My name is Sofia Buraczynski and I'll be your interpreter while you are here." She put the sign in her left hand and held
out her right hand for a handshake.

"I'm staying right here," Famke mouthed, as her eyes grew moist.
He cupped her cheek and his thumb lightly stroked her jaw, "Thank you," he whispered.
Famke leaned close. Chris lowered his head and she sealed her promise with a kiss near his lips, afraid if they actually kissed, she'd break the last professional barrier between them.
He slowly drew away and removed his hand, "What now?"

About this snippet:  Famke talks to her brother.

ENJOY THIS SNIPPET:

"Does Chris have a girlfriend?"
"No."
Famke poked her tongue against her cheek, but decided to continue, "He seemed a little sad to me yesterday."

"He had a skating accident last year. He and his partner were training at an outdoor rink and he stumbled on some uneven ice. She was in an overhead lift."
Famke covered her mouth with her hand, surprised to learn this, "Was she hurt?"
"No, Katrien was fine, but the way she fell, her blades cut him on the arm and on the side of his face. It took him several months to recover. She left him for a new partner."

About this snippet:  Famke and Chris talk ice skating.

ENJOY THIS SNIPPET:

"No, but I'm game to try it."
He opened his palm up, "Put your hand in mine."
             "Why?"
             "Please."
There was something in the tone of his voice, something which
implied he was looking for her trust, but there was also a hint of doubt. She slid her hand over his palm and he grasped her fingers, his grip firm, strong, and steady.
"Squeeze me back," he said, staring at her with such intensity, her heart tripped.
"All right," Her fingers clasped his.
"Good, our grips need to be similar so when I lift you, you trust me."

Hi all, I'm participating in the Weekend Warriors Snippet Sunday. This month, I'll be taking snippets from my Christmas romance, Gifts. You can find the Weekend Warriors Snippet Sunday list at:

About this snippet:  Famke meets her new ice skating partner.

ENJOY THIS SNIPPET:

Chris had always been tall, but slim, with a wild haircut and a very pale complexion. He was still tall, but now he filled out his clothes well with his muscular frame and broad shoulders. His hair was golden- yellow, but he'd found a cut that framed his face to perfection. She spied a scar on his temple, and despite the imperfection, it gave him a very masculine appearance. Oh, dear. Christian Jansen had become a very handsome man.

He approached, his gait emphasizing the force of his thighs and the slimness of his hips. She prayed a man that good looking wasn't vain and self-absorbed. She couldn't work with anyone who was like that.

Christian stopped and held out his box, "Hi. I bought you a gift."
She pointed to her chest, a bit surprised, "For me?"

Snippet Sunday: 99 cents: Young Witchcraft #wewriwa

Hi all, I'm participating in the Weekend Warriors Snippet Sunday. This month, I'll be taking snippets from my young adult romance, Young Witchcraft. You can find the Weekend Warriors Snippet Sunday list at:

About this snippet: Rachel tries to help Joe.

**3rd Place Winner in the 2015 International Digital Awards in Young Adult Fiction, Short Story**

ENJOY THIS SNIPPET:

Rachel drew in a breath and her shoulders relaxed. "Let me make sure it's not swollen." She lowered her voice, now filled with concern.

Joe sat sideways on the bench and crossed his leg over his knee. Rachel's delicate touch sent warmth pulsing through his entire foot. She turned her head straight toward the ground and her long hair covered the sides of her face, but Joe knew she did this to hide the glow in her eyes when she used her magic. Joe liked her healing touch. It always drained the tension from his body. Often, the sensation lingered and he would feel normal for hours after.

YOUNG WITCHCRAFT:

Rachel skipped down the stairs. She didn't quite understand it either, but Joe's friendship meant everything to her, wise or not. Rachel watched as Joe had his head down, staring at his ankle. Doug Kent, a fellow player on the bench, jabbed him with an elbow.
"I think Rachel's soft on you," Doug said. He tried to lower his voice, but Rachel still heard him. She stilled, curious what would happen next.
Joe looked at Doug and shrugged his shoulders.
"She's kinda' cute," Doug continued, "But she's not very outgoing."

About this snippet:  Rachel is torn.

**3rd Place Winner in the 2015 International Digital Awards in Young Adult Fiction, Short Story**

ENJOY THIS SNIPPET:

Joe hung out under the basket, jumped, and blocked a shot. Phil got the rebound and drove it down to their court. Joe now visibly limped. The coach called a time out and pulled him. Joe sat on the bench and rubbed his ankle, but didn't wince or frown.

Rachel sat on her hands. Should she go to him? Rachel drew in a long breath then ran a hand over her hair. Joe stared at his ankle and furrowed his brow. Broomsticks!
