I came up with this basic template to make eight cards along with several variations that you can make more out of it. You will need to first cut in 5"x12", the second cut in 5"x12" and the rest will be 2"x12". Then go by the cutting diagram.
This is a draft that you will see my handwriting after many whiteouts. I will work on my computer to get nicer drawing.
Tip: Punch out the focal image mat from the base layer that will be covered by dsp anyway.
Hope this will give some inspiration whoever wants to try.
UPDATE: Please click the template to open a new window with bigger clear picture.
Thanks for stopping by!
OMG!!!! I am so impressed!~
ReplyDeleteWow, I think this would be such a huge help in making cards and not wasting paper.

I've seen others do this, but yours is the best. The finished cards don't all look alike, there's so many variations and I can't wait to try it! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteAwesome Post Seongsook!!! Thank you so much for sharing! By the way, I use the punch out the solid focal image from your solid layer technique all the time, and I actually think I picked it up from YOU a few years ago. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your diagram and all your great work with us Seongsook. This is wonderful!

Great idea! I love all the cards you made from the one sheet. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYou amaze me. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI love that you made all these wonderful cards from one sheet. I will see if I can print off the samples because I can't read the dimensions and it gets blurrier the larger it gets. Great idea! TFS!

Deletei remember this from many years ago and thought how cool it is...but never went beyond that! i just cut out a sheet to see all the pieces and love all the cards i can get! i'm guessing in the 3x3 card, you also cut out the smaller square from the 3x3 piece since the blue mat will cover the hole?
ReplyDeletei also send cards in to OWH.....where are you in sac? i am in c.h.! i'll be subscribing to your blog now....

Fabulous template! I love sending cards in to OWH as well.
ReplyDeleteYou're good at this!!! Would love to see you come up with even more OSW templates. Your cards are lovely. I like that they're all different and use the designer paper so effectively. I Pinned your idea. More, please!!!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing! I've always loved OSW projects and your cards are beautiful! My mojo has been down w/ the stress of "end of the year" stuff with the kiddos! This is something I know I can sit and do and feel productive and will feel so happy to see my box for OWH fill up! Thanks for the inspiration :)
ReplyDeleteawesome OSW diagram! Thanks for sharing! I'm working on a set using this right now :)
ReplyDeleteSo wonderfully sweet of you to share this with us! I'll be adding this to my "must-keep" file!
ReplyDeleteI saw this through OWH and loved the idea. At the time, most of my DPs were single sided so I thought about using 2 well contrasting papers so that I'd end up with 16 cards. Yesterday I happened upon a stock of new papers at a shop and most of the packs were doubled sided. I just made my first set of cards. They are amazing. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing these instructions to make the most of a 12 x 12 sheet. Your results are fabulous and I can't wait to try it myself. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteThis will certainly help me!! I have "saved" (aka: hoarded!) a LOT of paper because I didn't know what to do with & it was so pretty! Now I can spread that "prettiness" around! Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing and inspiring! Thank you so very much for sharing this with us. Fantabulous!!

This is a fabulous tutorial! I was so inspired when I found it Friday (mentioned on Craft Test Dummies site). I used 2 one-sided sheets so my results were a little different but I got 12 cards with extra pieces. I also shared this with my mom and she was inspired too.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this great information and for what you do for Operation Write Home.
Goodness!!!!! This is awesome indeed, I'm in awe at how many wonderful cards can be done with just one sheet of 12x12 DSP. What a wonderful way to use all of it, simply fabulous. I'm a new recruit for the OWH organization and I'm very thrilled to be able to participate in sending hand made cards to all our Troops who are working so hard to preserve our freedom. Thank you so much for this wonderful and super useful template.

This is the first time I've ever seen a OSW. But can you please explaine what the last four notes (numbered 3-6) are referring to? Is it the size of the card base?
ReplyDeleteHi Aymes, it is referring to the size of 12"x12" double sized designer series paper.
DeleteThese have always been a puzzle to me, At last insructions that I have a chane of understanding. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
