Our class has finished a unit on animals and we've been reading Charlotte's Web to see what it's like living on a farm in a fictional world where animals walk, talk, do back flips, and even spell words like "some pig", "terrific", "radiant", and "humble". Right now we are starting the chapter where Charlotte is getting too tired to create her last, fabulous, web because she's ready to lay her egg sack. Well, last Saturday I was out cleaning the yard and I had apparently upset a beautiful wolf spider with her egg sack. She came crawling out of her corner as fast as she could, dragging her large sack behind her. I ran in the house to get the camera because I instantly thought of our dear friend Charlotte and I wanted to show all of the students. This is what I got for us!

With spring comes outdoor fun! Our class played a friendly game of kickball with Mrs. Hendrickson's class in the middle of April. While we were out having our fun, the school had an earthquake drill. Both of our classes handled the situation well as we routinely lined up and met on the field to account for all students. GOOD JOB CLASS!
We've got some really great kickers in our class. Students were sliding into first base and having a lot of fun.
Students need some relaxing fun while they are preparing to take the end of level tests.
It's always great to see the children getting along. Here we have "3 peas in a pod"!
The Dance Festival was a blast! I think the 2nd grade students did a great job "stealing the show". The girls were so cute dressed up in their poodle skirts with matching ribbons in their hair and the boyS looked "spiffy" in their t-shirts and jeans. They couldn't have done a better job. Thanks to all of the parents that helped make it possible by sewing skirts and just by helping their own kids to get dressed up IN the costumes. THANK YOU!
As the song went, "Thank you very much, thank you very much, that's the nicest thing that anyone's ever done for me!"

Time for SEP's Again
This week we will be getting out of school at 1:15 every day because of SEP meetings. Please remember to keep your scheduled time (or contact me if you need to change your time). Come to the meeting prepared to discuss any concerns you may have about your child and his/her education. We will be setting some goals to help your child graduate from 2nd grade on grade level.
Next week (March 2 - 6) is Read Across America week. We will be celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday by doing different reading activities throughout the week. Watch for more information to come home regarding these activities.
Dance Festival is quickly approaching (March 12th) and we are looking for a couple of volunteers to help sew some poodle skirts that we are making for the girls to wear. All the material will be cut and ready to go, we just need a little help sewing. If you would like to do this, contact me as soon as possible so that we can get the costumes finished in advance.
Spring pictures are coming up! Tuesday March 2nd has been set aside for Spring Picture day AND Blankets of Hope day. This will be the last sewing day for the service learning project, so come and join us!

Manners Tea
I was impressed with the way your children dressed . . . AND smelled today! I was so excited to see the kids come in looking so nice. One of the boys mentioned that his "mom put some of dad's perfume on". The room smelled wonderful and all of the kids were in a nice happy spirit. The tea party was wonderful!
Before the exciting tea party, we also enjoyed the day by making cards, delivering Valentine's, graphing conversation hearts, and writing about what love is.
But, the highlight of the day was definitely the tea party. Thanks to the parents that donated for the event. You were more than generous and I couldn't have expected more than what was received. Thank you for caring. You are all great!
